Long mailing, sorry. Lots of things are happening.
Please be sure to carefully read the "Deadlines and cutoffs"
draft item below.
Also, please look over this week's Laundry List. It's short
this week, but we are at the point now where everything on
it is becoming time-sensitive.

Two reports were received regarding the activities on the
sign-up page being out of order with respect to the times
on the schedule. This has now been re-ordered so that the
entries on the sign-up page now follow the order on the
main schedule.

Latest numbers:
As of Thursday morning, 136 sign-up responses are in. 44
are still pending. The second batch of reminders and the
first batch of "cancellation pending" notices just went
out this morning. 8 more registrations are in various
stages in the pipeline and 2 validations are outstanding.
A total of 162, including 26 SOs, are validated and
reconfirmed as of Thursday morning.
Total predicted turnout still appears to be converging
somewhere in the 170s.

Please, if your name is called, respond and give us some kind
of status report. This is becoming more and more time-sensitive
as we enter these final weeks until DLV.

Pre-DLV gathering:
We've had no objections raised to using Las Palmas for the,
Pre-DLV gathering on Saturday, and no alternative suggestions
have come in.
Let's consider this to be a done deal.
No-host, no theme other than Quality Social Time. No official
start/end times, but we'll announce that DLVers will most
likely start arriving 6:00pm-ish.
Going twice, gavel raised and ready to strike. :)

Activity sign-up status:
As of Thursday morning the following activities are in a
waiting list state:
Makeover Tips, both sessions. Both of these have a waiting
list that's significant.
Sunday Irish Pub dinner. This has been hovering at and above
the 30 limit for estimated turnout. Susan, if you want this
threshold raised, please let me know.
EON Milano's. Waiting list is becoming significant.
Limo Tour. Short waiting list as of this morning.

We're keeping an eye on the following:
Imperial Palace Auto Collection. 26 signed up, predicted
turnout is 20.6. As per Marisa's request we're keeping
this open at any sign-up level.
Beginner Open House, Monday. 22 signed up, 15.2 show-up
estimate.
Welcome Dinner. 106 signed up, 79.8 predicted show-up.
No plans to mark this one full at any level.
Art Tour City Center. 29 signed up, 21.7 predicted to
show up. Ditto. No plans to mark full, regardless.
Quiet Evening At Home. 20 signed up, 14.4 predicted to
show up.
Trevi Dinner. 39 signed up, 29.5 predicted turnout. Ginger,
unless I hear otherwise I'll put up the "full" sign as the
predicted turnout approaches 40.
Murder Mystery. 19 signed up, I realize that 20 is a hard
stop. Holly, unless I hear otherwise I'll put up the "full"
sign at 20.
Art Tour Arts Factory. 23 signed up, 18.3 predicted to
show up. No plans to mark full.
Level 107 Lounge. 35 signed up, 25.1 predicted to show.
Marisa, unless I hear otherwise I'll put up the "full" sign
when the estimated turnout approaches 30.
Bahama Breeze Dinner. 105 signed up, 82.9 predicted to
show. Alanna, Susan, unless I hear otherwise, we will mark
as full when the predicted number hits 90.

Thanks, Vivian. We'll definitely use you, since the one who
has been taking the lead on check-in at the major gatherings
may have some conflicts this year.
All I would ask is that you show up early, and "early" in
this case would be at the posted Happy Hour start time of
6:00pm. As you know, our people tend to run fashionably
late. :)

That is exactly what we're looking for, thanks.
For Trevi, in particular, it might be a good idea to look
out in the common area and see if you see anybody who looks
like one of ours wandering about. Out people tend to be
very shy in asking for directions and information and we
had one particular report last year about the difficulty
finding the group at Trevi.

this one, will not be with us this year, unfortunately. :(

I think the biggest need for greeters and check-in
hosts and hostesses will be at the Pre-DLV gathering
above and at the HH/Dinner/Welcome on Monday. If you
could be "fashionably early" for those, it would be
appreciated. :)

If you can give us location and time information, we can
put it on the schedule ... but ...
.. providing (you saw this coming, I'm sure) that in order
for us to announce it or put it on the schedule, we do need
to have a commitment from some volunteer to be there at the
posted start time to welcome the others.
This year in particular, we don't want anyone walking in
cold anywhere and finding nobody there!
I know that you (Nora) have an iffy schedule this year, so
if anybody wants to act as greeter/hostess at this, please
write in and say so. This would count toward voting status.

Well, not to admit my real age, but I do remember when the
film came out. I never recall actually viewing it. IIRC it
was "adults only" at the time. (LOL, not what you would find
at the Saturday matinee at the Albemarle.) :) :)
The reference to it I remember most was on one of the late
night talk shows, probably Carson, may have even been Parr
or a guest host. Somebody walked on stage in obvious comic
drag and the host (Carson?) said something like "Oh, good
evening, Mr. Lemmon, I didn't know you were on the program
tonight!" :) :) :) Of course the audience roared! :)

Normally we have the Admin. Committee proofread the general
mailings, but since this item is of particular importance,
I'm asking everyone here to give it the once-over and scream
if anything does not look right or if we're omitting any
critical deadline, cutoff, or milestone.
It's *REALLY* embarrassing when errors leak out! :(
This will be going out in the next general mailing, either
Saturday or Sunday, pending some other items.

Sunday, April 11 (time flies! one week from tomorrow!), will
be the last batch of activity sign-up mailings. You must have
a validated registration by Sunday, April 11, at about 8:00am
CDT in order to sign up for many of the optional activities.

Monday, April 12, at about 11:00pm CDT will be the cutoff for
all on-line activity sign-ups and changes. After that time,
participation in activities which require a sign-up, if
space is available, must be arranged with the activity
coordinators in person during DLV.

Wednesday, April 14, at about 1:00am CDT will be the cutoff for
general registration for DLV 2009.

Thursday, April 15, will be the deadline for payment for the
Murder Mystery Dinner Theater. See activity sign-up screen for
payment instructions.

Friday, April 16, is the deadline for golf payment. See golf
payment information on the activity sign-up screen.

On Friday, April 16, we will begin holding any correspondence
received for a response after DLV has concluded. We cannot
guarantee a timely response to any items submitted by e-mail

Saturday, April 17, will be the deadline for cancellations for

have changed since last year.

after April 17, must be made in person at the activities
designated on the activity sign-up screen.

payment for the English High Tea. See activity sign-up screen
for prepayment info. Payment in person may be made at any major
