This mailing:

Thanks to those who took advantage of the early activity
sign-up. We did give the back-end processes a good shakedown.

All of the first batches of activity sign-up mailings have
now gone out, and responses are coming in.

As of this morning, 82 have responded at least once.

96 sign-ups are still outstanding, which is a very normal
and expected number for this point in time in the process.

The next batch, and the first batch of reminders, will be
going out on Monday.

The activity which has the highest sign-up so far is Friday's
Bahama Breeze dinner. Very close to a 100% participation rate!
I think we've adequately addressed any concerns about this one
being poorly attended! :) Monday's wc dinner is a close second
as far as the numbers go. i foresee a very heavy turnout at
both of our major gatherings!

The only activity so far which has filled and gone into a
waiting list state is the Monday Makeover With Stacey session.

Update: The second Makeover Tips With Stacey has been flipping
in and out of the full state this morning as sign-ups come in
and are updated. I have left the "full" sign up for now.

The Irish Pub option for Sunday is by far the most popular of
the Sunday dining options, and I have a feeling that it will
be the next activity to fill to capacity.

PT's Pub is the most popular of the EON options on Tuesday
so far.

Many others have quite respectable sign-up numbers so far.

One item of particular note is that so far this year, nobody
has yet submitted a null (no optional activities signed up)
entry. Everybody has signed up for at least one item. This
says a lot regarding the appeal of our slate of activities
and the capturing of our attendees' interests.

Primary coordinators should receive a special mailing which
contains the link to the activity sign-up reports. If you
have a need for this and don't receive it by tomorrow
morning, please write in and scream. :)

Please don't be discouraged if your activity shows low or
no sign-ups yet. Activity sign-up is less than 1/2 over and
there are many, many sign-ups yet to come in.
. . . . .

I think we handled the past "crunch time" very well, and most
everything was well covered. Activity sign-up is off to a very
smooth start, and I thank all involved for helping to make it
that way. :) Good job, gang! :)

Over the next two weeks or so our primary job is to fill in
the blanks with missing information, smooth out the details,
and get ready to enjoy DLV ourselves.

It's still possible to add activities to the schedule, if
anyone wants to sponsor them, as long as they can be on a
no sign-up, just show up basis.

We will have another mini-crunch-time just before the Large
Final Mailing goes out as most everything will need to be
absolutely solid as of that time.
. . . . .

Thanks to all who have written a "What is a ..." item for
the Discussion Forum. Please feel free to write one on your
activity if you have not done so already.

Frank Marino and Las Palmas (possible Pre-DLV):

Nora writes:

>I spoke to Amy last night about the Frank Marino show and

>only have a limited amount, about 20, but judging from the
>past that should be adequate.

Thanks, Nora. I think that will be a far more convenient
method, as opposed to having them track you down.

As of this morning you have 29 signed up, and the machine
says that about 22.5 of them will follow through and
participate.

>As you know there are also may other places that offer
>discounted tickets

Yes, this is the type of show that frequently appears at
the discount booths. I'm sure the guy who runs the booth
at O'Shea's next door to the IP will have them.

Let's consider this one to be on the short list for a major
activity next year. Thanks for the report.

>I know that we have not thought about an opening or closing
>event using an ethnic restaurant but it is something we can
>consider for the future.

Actually, I consider tapas to be quite ethnic, and even Bahama
Breeze, while not hardcore ethnic (Jamaaaaca, Mon?) is most
definitely regional. I have a feeling that Firefly will be
very well liked.

We've also used Carluccio's as a major activity venue.

I don't see anything wrong with an ethnic place for a major
gathering, except of course if it's so exotic that many of
our people would not care for the food. Those who don't like
the cuisine anywhere can, of course, eat elsewhere. We've
always observed that about 2/3 of those who show up at any
major gathering will be dining with the group, and the other
1/3 or so will be drinking and socializing.

>There is also a full bar so happy hour is not a problem.

>We can even consider it for the pre DLV get together and
>evaluate at that time.

Well, since we're over the big hump of activity sign-up,
I don't think it's too early anymore to be thinking of
some kind of a Pre-DLV gathering for Saturday.

My only concerns are that we designate one and only one
location for Pre-DLV, and that the planning of such an
activity not in any way drain resources from the main DLV
schedule of activities.

So far this year we've had PT's Pub on Sahara and Firefly
mentioned as possibilities for the Pre-DLV gathering. I
consider both of these to be viable, and based on your
report, Las Palmas to be a third.

Comments, gang?

Would Las Palmas be to your liking for a Pre-DLV thing?

Any other comments or suggestions?

>Last month they hosted a huge GLBT luncheon so size should
>not be a problem.

Well, if they hosted a big GLBT luncheon, both size and
attitude should be no problem. :)

Thanks, Nora. :)

Fashion Show confusion:

Edy writes:

>More confusion here.

>We need to specify which end of the Mall if we want to gather
>as a group.

Ok, I promise I'll get this right eventually. :)

Help me out here. :)

I'm looking at the FSM property map, and I'm showing on
the lower level, zone D, outside of Dillard's as having
California Pizza Kitchen, Johnny Rocket's, and Luciano's.

Is this the area you mean?

If so I'll get an appropriately-worded description on the
main schedule. Please let me know.

Makeovers with Stacey:

Ginger writes (from a conversation):

>Change the Stacey makeover to 9:30 a.m. with a limit of 12
>or Monday and Tuesday. They are bringing in several "Beauty
>Ambassadors" and are planning on doing lots of personal
>work on the participants. This should be a great opportunity
>for those who want to go mainstream with their makeup in a
>private way.

I have the changes in. The only issue is that there are several
sign-ups in already with the posted time of 10:30am.

>As long as they can get up a little earlier they should be
>OK as there is nothing before. They will get lots of personal
>attention!

We'll be sure to announce the time change in this weekend's
general mailing, and make a bold note of it in the LFM.

>I'll give you the places for lunch when I get time -- my
>life has been out of control with work, etc. the last few
>days and I just now got on the Internet tonight.

Understood.

Whenever you get the locations in, please let me know. Things
like this will not become critical for about 2 weeks.

High Tea sans tea:

Kathy writes:

>hi this is kathy an love to go to the high tea, what well
>it cost if i dont drink tea .

Well, uh, Marilyn can comment for sure, but I don't think
there is the option for a lower price if you will not be
drinking tea.

If you just don't care for tea, I can't speak with authority,
but the four seasons may have some alternate beverages which
are available, or may be available if you $ay the right thing$
to the $taff at the time. :)

NSD status:

As some may have heard, the state of NSD 2010 is uncertain
as of this time due to pricing and coordination issues.

JoAnn and I are in agreement that any further discussion on
this issue needs to be taken off line until we can gather
more information on a possible "re-plan" for the activity.
