This mailing covers several topics, other than the HRC

Thanks to all who sent in updates and suggestions.
All who are of voting status should have now received the
special HRC ballot e-mail yesterday. If you are of voting

Hotel scoreboard:
No hotel nominations have come in for about a week. Ditto
for any hotel discussion.
It's now the 18th of November, and we're due to announce
our suggested hotels around the first of December. Let's
keep the floor open one more week for hotel nominations,
and summarize call for hotel votes on Wednesday the 26th.
Again, I would like to see one and only one round of hotel
suggestions this year, meaning that come January or February,
we don't add more suggested hotels as we have on occasion in
the past. With our Hotel Hostess program this year, and the
need to recruit volunteers for it, we have a further need
for planning and consistency in our hotel selection process.
Anyway, here are the way things currently stand:
(in order of nomination)
Sahara: Nominated, seconded.
Paris: Nominated, seconded.
MGM Grand: Nominated, pending second.
Please consider this to be "next to last call" for any
seconds on the MGM Grand and any additional hotels to
be nominated.
Still no nominations for the Imperial Palace, and I am
somewhat surprised at this. Ditto for the Stratosphere.
MGM fans?
IP fans?
Strat fans?
Alexis/Tropez fans?
Others?

Viva Elvis:

Comments, gang?
This would be a good fit for the "Big Show", penciled in
on Tuesday. (The name "Cirque Du Soleil" will most likely
preclude it from being the "Affordable Show" option.) :)
I can also envision it fitting as a local second-track
option opposite NSD on Thursday, or even as a third-track
against the Limo Tour and QEAH on Wednesday.
Thanks for the suggestion, Mardi. :)

If it doesn't work, it doesn't work, and we appreciate
the idea and the effort.
Please keep us informed if you do come across something
along this line.

SOs?
Bob has "first refusal rights" to host the primary
featured SO get-together this year, but there is
nothing that says that others cannot be planned.
If you or any other SOs have any specific ideas, please
feel free to bring them forward. Remember, we're not in
any way constrained to any venues or themes. Think far
out of the box if you want!

You're very welcome, Kat. It is very much appreciated! :)

Thanks, Kate.
All it takes for this to happen is -- you guessed it,
for one of us to "adopt" it and put it on the schedule.
Tracy has suggested this, but she has not responded
to the confirmation of the intent to host(ess) it, so
as of this time it's essentially up for grabs.
There are several places on the schedule where I think
it would fit.
Tuesday is the obvious one, for dinner and after-dinner
entertainment or whatever. I think this would be the
best fit, schedule-wise.
It could also work as a local (well, kinda) option on
Thursday against NSD, or as a third-track option on
Wednesday. It might even work for an option for Sunday
evening dinner.
That's the good news.
>It is not a cab ride away though unless you consider a

This is the major factor - distance - which precludes
it for use for any major DLV function. You or anyone
who coordinates something there may want to work out
the details for carpooling and/or shared taxi rides.

Art Tour and High Tea:
JoAnn writes (first-person):
>Mary Beth, Sarah, JoAnn, Marisa, Randi (others?):
>Erotic Heritage Museum? Art Tour? Time preferences?
Sarah --JoAnn here-- Sarah, you have been the Coordinator
here for the past few years so we need for you to step up
here and give your preferred day and time for this event.
And Randi, you have been a frequent participant and I would
hope you step and be the Assistant on this event and give
your inputs.
I would suggest to go for the Erotic Heritage Museum and if
a new "mainline exhibit" comes to town later we can try to
include it in the discussed 3 hours{time slot [whenever it
starts and ends for a late lunch].
Let's have some dialog here from you all.

>English High Tea. This is now officially an "orphan", since

>Anybody feel like grabbing this one?
It has been such a great event enjoyed by a limited group.
Hopefully some of the other past attendees will step to host
it. Lets pick a day and see if we can get a volunteer host
in the next few weeks.
Let's place it on Friday at 3pm as a "place holder".
I would be an assistant host. Could we have reservations
done through GB?
. . . . .
Thanks, JoAnn.
I have it on the schedule for Friday afternoon, primary
coordinator as TBA and you as assistant. Is this to be
at the Four Seasons again, or is the venue to be decided?
Yes, I'm sure this could be done through the GB for the
payment.
As to the EHM and Art Tour, see MB's note below.

Thanks, MB.
The 3:00pm opening time makes it very difficult to put
this into the "Art" tour, which usually runs from late
morning into early afternoon.
Depending on what their closing time is, I might
suggest a Tuesday evening timeslot for this, perhaps
combined with its own dinner if the hours of the
EHM don't sync with the normal Tuesday dining options.

Very true. Anyone who attends Rocky Horror will almost
certainly be "cool" to any kind of gender presentation.
However, and this has been noted by a number of our people
back when we used to do RHPS in past years. Many RHPS fans
are teens or twentysomethings with goth/punk and very
unconventional styles and they can indeed look and sound
intimidating, especially to those unfamiliar with the RHPS
scene.
>If there is any DLV interest, even just two or three,
>I'd be willing to serve as "greeter" at the theatre.
Thanks, Norma! I'll put this (back) on the working schedule.
I'll be there, and I'm sure others will be too, assuming
this follows a traditional pre-DLV gathering of some kind.
>Note that scheduling for something like this is a done
>deal. It is there at a day and time for anyone
>interested.
Well, the only public showing there is happens to be at
midnight on Saturday/Sunday of DLV week at the Onyx Theater,
so this is really the only place we can put a public
showing on our schedule.
. . .
>(2) Private viewing.
>I could bring along my video tape if someone would find

I really think the experience is much better in a theater
setting, and if the Onyx performance is actually gonna
happen on Saturday/Sunday of DLV week, that's the best
way to go by far.
Let's continue to watch the situation as we get closer
to zero hour, and if it looks like the Onyx showing
may not occur as planned, you can then go for a backup
plan for a video showing.

Thanks, Norma. :)
>I don't see it on the calendar, though. Maybe I missed

Nope. It's really up to you and Paula and staff.
I might suggest either Wednesday or Friday, since neither
of them have any commercial activity in the daytime yet.
Just let me know when you have a timeslot set.

The 2009 Limo Tour was not the best. We tried a few things
that just did not work, we had misunderstandings of payment
deadlines, and there were some logistic/routing issues
during the tour.
We've done some preliminary off-line discussion on how to
correct some of these already.
Payment will be helped out significantly by using GB to
handle prepayments. However, there will still be some hard
deadlines.
We'll be going back to some of the things that we know have
worked well in the past for this coming year's tour.
>just my own thoughts but i well be there at dlv to do what i
>can to help.
If you would like to help, please watch for the notice for
volunteers for the Limo Team. My guess is that this will be
coming out in January/February or so.
Last year's Limo Team members (Marcia, MB, Marilyn, etc.) do
have "first refusal" on this, but there will most certainly
be room for more help if you would like to volunteer.
