Resuming:
Now that most of the hotel issues and other minor items are
behind us, we need to begin with our in-depth planning for
the big event!
The big news is the probable loss of one of our key intended
venues. See below. The good news on this, if there is anything
good about it, is that it happened 6 months out and not two
weeks out! We've had a running history of venues closing or
otherwise falling through at very short notice! :(
Anyway, for those of you who had or have ideas for various
activities, now is the time to look over the schedule and
start selecting timeslots.

That's just ducky! :(
In today's economy, a formal eviction is usually a last
resort, when all other means of settling the issue have
been tried and are exhausted. Around here, vacant rental
business property tends to stay vacant for some time and
I'm sure that things are the same or worse in LV. I'm
sure they held on as long as they could, and that Mister
Land-Lawd gave them some slack, as people are not exactly
beating down the doors of rental agents in these times.
In other words, I'm not holding my breath for a re-opening.
Oh well -- so it goes. Let's put on the thinking caps and
enumerate alternatives. A few that come to mind immediately
are:
1. PT's. (The one on Sahara, about 6th.)
Will this hold 100 people?
2. Escape Lounge.
I can just hear the groans from the "Mainstream Mainstream"
crowd if we seriously consider this, though. :(
3. Alexis Park.
What's the situation look like over there? Any conclusion
on the attitude issue that was reported a year or so ago?
Those are the ones that come to mind immediately.
Comments and suggestions, gang?

Starting the schedule:
This is the "skeleton" we've presented before, filled in
with details taken from our conversations between July
and now.
Let's go over each day, first as a summary, then with
details, notes, questions, etc.
This first reading really concentrates on evening things
but some "anchor" daytime activities are noted too. If you
plan to be coordinating daytime things, please be thinking
of where your activity would fit, and don't be afraid to
jump in and claim a timeslot. It will usually be FCFS!
Anyway, let's review things as they appear to be falling
in place ...
Sunday, April 18:
12:01am: Rocky Horror Picture Show (Onyx Theater) - sv
10:00am: Religious services (Metropolitan Community Church) - sv
7:00pm: Dinner options (Various)
9:00pm: After-dinner common gathering (TBA) - mv
That's the summary of everything that was discussed for
Sunday.
12:01am: Rocky Horror Picture Show (Onyx Theater) - sv
Marisa is the one who proposed this. Marisa, do you want
to take the lead on this? It could probably be no-host but
since it's an early activity it would be nice to have a
friendly face there to greet the DLV people.
10:00am: Religious services (Metropolitan Community Church) - sv
We haven't had this on the official schedule since 2005 and
when we have, we've always had a hostess lined up to welcome
the DLV folks.
Jamie? I seem to recall that you were one of the hostesses
for this in previous years. Are you willing to take this one?
7:00pm: Dinner options (Various)
This is our "soft start" first evening.
As we discussed, early Sunday evening would be smaller group
things. About anything that's been discussed as a dining
venue would probably work.
9:00pm: After-dinner common gathering (TBA) - mv
Big question is where! Ideas?
. . . . .
Monday, April 19:
1:00pm: Lunch With Ginger (TBA) - ms
6:00pm: Happy Hour (TBA) - mv
7:00pm: Dinner (TBA) - mv
8:00pm: Welcome Meet and Greet (TBA) - mv
In detail ...
1:00pm: Lunch With Ginger (TBA) - ms
Ginger? Location? No hurry on this, actually.
6:00pm: Happy Hour (TBA) - mv
7:00pm: Dinner (TBA) - mv
8:00pm: Welcome Meet and Greet (TBA) - mv
As noted above, we need a venue for this. Any and all
suggestions will be appreciated. It would be nice if all
three of these (HH dinner welcome) could happen in one
convenient location, but that is not an absolute
requirement.
Thoughts?

Tuesday, April 20:
1:00pm: Lunch With Mary Beth (TBA) - ms
7:00pm: Eating Out Night (Various)
7:00pm: Milano's option (Milano's) - mv
8:30pm: Mainstream-Alternative Night (Various)
8:30pm: Big Show (TBA) - ms
8:30pm: Affordable Show (TBA) - ms
8:30pm: Pub Crawl (TBA) - sv
And in detail ...
1:00pm: Lunch With Mary Beth (TBA) - ms
MB? Location?
7:00pm: Eating Out Night (Various)
We spoke of making Tuesday the traditional "Eating Out Night"
followed by multi-track options, named "Mainstream-Alternative
Night" for lack of a better name. :)
7:00pm: Milano's option (Milano's) - mv
I will take Milano's. We will need 3-4 other options in
here as well. Just about any dining activity which has
been discussed over the past few months would fit here
if you wish to do it in a smaller group setting. Almost
any other dinner type thing would work here as well.
8:30pm: Big Show (TBA) - ms
8:30pm: Affordable Show (TBA) - ms
These are really place-holders, but those who wish to
coordinate show-type activities can be thinking ahead
as to what would work. The timing of this can be adjusted
to actual show-start times. You may recall that last year
we had one show option which had an early start, which we
followed with its own dinner option.
8:30pm: Pub Crawl (TBA) - sv
Lisa, you have first refusal rights on this one. If you
don't wanna take it, I will take it.
. . . . .
Wednesday, April 21:
1:00pm: Lunch With Ginger (TBA) - ms
6:00pm: Happy Hour (TBA) - ms
7:00pm: Dinner (TBA) - ms
9:30pm: Limousine Tour (TBA) - ms
And in detail ...
1:00pm: Lunch With Ginger (TBA) - ms
Ginger? Location?
6:00pm: Happy Hour (TBA) - ms
7:00pm: Dinner (TBA) - ms
We spoke briefly of doing a repeat of Trevi as the feature
dinner activity on Wednesday. Is this what we want to do?
Comments on this one?
9:30pm: Limousine Tour (TBA) - ms
JoAnn and I have spoken briefly about this off line. We will
need a couple more volunteers to help out on this. Mary Beth,
Marilyn, Edy, and Marcia will have first refusal rights on
this one.
There's also room for one or more alternate-track activities
in this timeslot. Something like the Pity Party would fit,
or about anything.
. . . . .
Thursday, April 22:
2:00am: Charles Bar (Bellagio) - ms
1:00pm: Lunch With Ginger (TBA) - ms
5:00pm: Night Of The Soiled Doves (CR) - mv
6:00pm: Local Happy Hour (TBA) - ms
7:00pm: Local Dinner (TBA) - ms
In detail ...
1:00pm: Lunch With Ginger (TBA) - ms
Ginger? Location?
5:00pm: Night Of The Soiled Doves (CR) - mv
I'm assuming that this one is about as solid as anything we
have.
6:00pm: Local Happy Hour (TBA) - ms
7:00pm: Local Dinner (TBA) - ms
NSD has limited capacity, and we will be in need of one or
more alternate-track activities for Thursday. We're not
only limited to HH and dinner. After-dinner activities of
just about any type would work.
Again, I think it would be nice if we could have some kind
of a common post-NSD thing, attracting both those who do
NSD and those who stay in town.
. . . . .
Friday, April 23:
1:00pm: Lunch With Ginger (TBA) - ms
6:00pm: Happy Hour (TBA) - ms
7:00pm: Final Dinner (TBA) - ms
9:00pm: After-dinner options (Various)
In detail ...
1:00pm: Lunch With Ginger (TBA) - ms
Location? Location? Location? :)
6:00pm: Happy Hour (TBA) - ms
7:00pm: Final Dinner (TBA) - ms
9:00pm: After-dinner options (Various)
Here is the biggie.
We've discussed doing this with a larger HH and dinner and
then have multiple activity options following.
Once again, the Big Burning Question<tm> on the HH and dinner
is where?
Bahama Breeze is bound to come up as a possibility. I do
like it, but I think it's important that we select a venue
which will encourage maximum participation.
As for after-dinner options, about anything will work. Dancing
at Paris would be one good option. A Pity Party type thing
would also work. Ditto with a Jam Session type thing. Just a
strictly social bar thing, mainstream or alternative, would
work as well.
What I don't think we want this year are cop-out "no host"
suggetions like we had last year.
Thoughts, gang?
