Transitioning:

Moving forward, there's been no significant discussion about the new
roles to be filled and those who have volunteered to fill them.

This is the final call for discussion on this topic. If there is no
more, let's proceed to the Call For Votes.

I would like to get this part of the process complete so we can move
on to breaking in our new Moderator with the 2007 incarnation of the
lists.
. . . . .

I'm planning on removing the survey on Friday to tabulate the results.
I know that several who attended DLV 2006 have not taken this. Please
do so if you have not already:

Thanks, Nora. I wasn't aware of this happening. :(

In general, I agree that breaking up the group on parallel tracks is a
good thing. If we look at Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of DLV 2006,
all were multi-tracked and with one exception everything turned out
quite well.

I really think that the Eating Out Night concept worked well. The only
problem is that it takes (at least) one volunteer for each venue. The
good thing is that the load on each volunteer is minimal.

What might work well this coming year is to have two EON type group
meals, one with smaller groups in a number of places like we did in 2005
and 2006, and another with larger groups in 2-3 places.

Now, as to breaking up the group alphabetically ...

<warstory>
Years ago at another event we did just this, although we broke the group
up alphabetically by first name, or at least tried to. I was the one who
had to keep the headcounts and rosters for each venue. It was a total
nightmare! :( I was deluged with "but I wanna eat with so-and-so"
requests all day, which resulted in a chain reaction of switching back
and forth all day long. The end result was that many just showed up
where they felt like it at the time, one venue was overloaded, the other
had vacant seats, and we really had no means of enforcing things.

The conclusion was that any involuntary "assignment" of a person to a
venue would not work.

Now if somebody wants to try it ... :)
