Org List:

This is the DLV 2006 Organizational Mailing List (dlvorg@geekbabe.com)
Replies to this message will be forwarded to the DLVORG list and not
the DLV-Announce or DLV-Discuss list.

Ongoing activity database appears on the web at:

Shaking down the system:

It's getting close, gang. Next big job is to shake down the activities
sign-up page for this year. Please use the URL below and sign up our
test attendee for anything and everything and look for errors and
issues.

Coordinators, please eyeball any activities you are involved with and
check carefully for all errors.

I want to launch the e-mails around 2300 on Sunday.

[URL removed from web archived copy]

A couple notes:

1. I've temporarily marked NSD as full to test the waiting list logic.
It will show up as full on this test, but will not when we roll this out
this weekend, at least for the first couple minutes, that is. :)

2. I have the Garden Party on there in anticipation. It will be changed
if necessary. It's not final yet.

Please be on the lookout for:

1. Missing activities (those that need a sign-up or a headcount, that
is.)

2. Schedule errors. Wrong day, etc.

3. Spelling, grammatical, typographical errors.

4. Factual errors, wrong price, wrong payment info, wrong cutoff, etc.

5. Logic errors. Our test attendee arrives Tuesday and departs Saturday,
and therefore should generate a warning for anything signed up on Monday
or Sunday. Errors should be generated for activities that overlap as
well.

6. System errors. Error messages, long load time, slow response,
incomplete page loads, format errors, etc.

Laundry List:

As you'll see below, there are a couple proposals for additional
activities.

If we're going to add any which require a headcount or a sign-up, we
need to do this NOW. This coming Sunday is the ABSOLUTE DROP-DEAD date
for activities that need a sign-up.
. . .

Michelle, can you also please confirm if your movie outing is still
happening? If so, how do you want to work out the details? Do you
want a sign-up for this?
. . . . .

Garden Party? Tootsye? Any news? If anybody's in touch directly with
Tootsye, can you please give her a nudge. Thanks. :)
. . . . .

All: Local NSD alternative? Cindy has volunteered to host a drink-out at
Goodtimes at 9:00pm, but we'll probably need something that starts
before that, either Goodtimes or elsewhere. Ideas? Volunteers?

Dance Instruction:

Diane writes:

This can be done thru the activity sign-up process. I can add e-mail
addresses to the info you get.

>b. the type of dance that they would like
> (majority will rule)

You'll get a lot better response on this one if we add checkboxes to the
sign-up screen, as opposed to a blank, or (worse) asking for dance types
to be sent by mail.

Can you please give me the dance types you want to offer, so I can add
this to the activity sign-up screen. Thanks.

Thanks, Jamie. It should all be on the sign-up page now.

E-mail normally is not on those reports, but I can make a report for
you that includes it.

Kinky Boots:

I do think there would be some interest in getting a group to see this.

However, I think there are too many ifs at the current time for us to
put it on the schedule. If you (or anybody) wants to see this happen,
please research it some more and propose something once it's known that
it will be appearing during DLV. Thanks.

Lucky Chengs:

Ladies (gentlemen), Nora reports on this possible dinner-show which
we've discussed here before.

Nora has done the preliminary icebreaking, but she will not be
physically present to do the follow-up work.

This looks like one where we will definitely need a headcount, therefore
it will have to be included with activity sign-up.

If this is to happen, we need a volunteer (does not have to be local)
to take this ball and run with it, and we need this to happen by
this coming Sunday. Not Monday, but Sunday. :) Preferably before that.

Thanks, Nora.

It's really up to whoever chooses to adopt it as to where to put it on
the schedule. I think Tuesday as a NSD alternative would work, also as
an "alternative" option for Wednesday, or even as an option on Sunday,
although I don't think Sunday would get the best turnout. Hard Rock will
definitely happen on Sunday, but not everybody will do it.

Takers?

Blue Ox:

Thanks, Mindy.

Let's call this one definite then. Between you and Kate I think we'll
have this covered.

Yes, we can give you an approximate headcount a few days in advance and
you'll be able to see the running headcount as soon as activity sign-up
starts.
