Houston, we may have a problem:
This is an early mailing containing one item only. Please look this
over and comment.
I don't know how this possibly escaped us, but in anticipating the hotel
vote, I checked the rates for both the Sahara and the Imperial Palace
and found them both astronomical for the April 23 - 29 period! :(
Checking with Travelocity, I found rates at all other Strip area hotels
to be high for the scheduled DLV week as well. :(
Checking further, looking at the LVCVA web site I'm finding that we have
scheduled DLV 2006 to coincide with the NAB (National Association Of
Broadcasters) Convention, now one of the largest in LV, and one that
most definitely drives hotel rates upward.
My thought is that the hotel rates will absolutely >>KILL<< our turnout
over the scheduled period. :(
Do we want to consider a reschedule?
If we are to reschedule, I do think we need to act as quickly as
possible to let people make or adjust their plans accordingly.
As I said, I sure don't know how this slipped past us. When we
originally proposed these dates I know I checked LVCVA and found
nothing major over the then-proposed DLV dates at that time.
We do need everybody's input on this issue as soon as possible.
