DLV proposed activity - funeral:

Densie writes: (no editing, first person, no quoting)

Here is the activity that I am proposing, and a brief overview.

Suggested dress: Wear black. GM or BM. Dressy attire is suggested.
Goth is OK, but not too punk, please.

10:00 pm Group meets at a designated place, where we will line up the
hearse, at least one limo, and cars which will participate in the
precession.

The guest of honor, of course, will be the corpse. I will arrange for a
volunteer, and a couple of alternates, just in case. Unlike a real
funeral, it is possible for the deceased to become ill or have other
obligations.

Dressed and made up appropriately for her funeral by our volunteers, she
will be placed in a casket. The lower door will be left unlocked, and
the upper door removed, so that she doesn't get claustro.

10:30 pm Precession begins to the graveyard, which may be real or
mocked-up, depending on what I can arrange.

10:45 pm Depending on the size, the entire precession, or some of it,
will go through the drive-thru of a MacDonald's. Hopefully, this will
top the Del-Mar incident. Bring your cameras.

11:15, we arrive at the cemetary. Pall bearers (boy mode, if we have
any, otherwise girlz will do) take out the casket and place it on a pyre
of some sort.

11:30 pm Graveside funeral service begins. Whomever wants to can say a
few words over the deceased, throw some flowers, cop a feel, or
whatever. (Unlike a real funeral, you should probably OK what you plan
to do with the corpse before the event, because we definitely don't want
her to get up and object).

Midnite A surprise. Party to follow. Bring booze, or whatever.

Some people, instead of just exercising their rights not to participate,
will throw a fit over this activity. Don't let them sway your decision!

The last activity I proposed that raised a stink, one of the people who
objected the most vocally was someone who has not attended the last few
DLVs! So if you want to go, don't let anyone talk you out of it. I
know that some of you have a very dark sense of humor, and you're going
to have a great time.
. . . . .

Thanks, Densie. What evening do you want this to happen?

Comments, gang? :)

This Saturday:

(Kind of a re-run of what was sent out in a separate mailing, but ...)

If anybody's in the Las Vegas area, you're invited.

6:00pm at Suede, 4640 S Paradise (strip mall, corner of Paradise and
Naples, old Sashas/Tramps building).

Drinks, dinner, conversation, entertainment du jour. We may wander on
to other places depending on mood, etc..

Hope to see everybody there. :)

Event Feedback - 2005:

Joann writes (no quoting, first person, no editing):

To Advance the Dialog for the 2005 Event Schedule--

All of the following ideas need volunteers, but first I think, we need
to get some new exciting ideas going so we can get people to want to
help out... We need to avoid the 'same old'---

A Wedding Event-- This has possibilities if the attendance is limited [
like any wedding event] for each of the three(3) activities:
bachalorette party-- wedding-- reception. The price of admission would
vary for each segment with the bachalorette party on a Monday, the
Wedding the next late afternoon, and the reception the following
evening. This would give an opportunity to 'theme' it over three days
and against other events.

The NSD event, I believe, needs to be downsized and not have the dinner
event but rather have 'snacks' and limit the sign-up for the location,
plus do as suggested and have the two(2) venues---

And regarding the Funeral--- that has great possibilities if it becomes
an Irish Wake with scripts and assigned roles. And it needs to be at a
real Funeral Parlor... We should do a "Mash" [TV show] scene where the
corpse comes alive ['a male stripper'] with a follow-up place for
everyone to go afterwards... like Zingers.

Also the evening dinning out night ['main stream'] was well received and
should continue, but again some 'direction' -- Maybe with each 'venue'
having a total limit of 15 persons for three tables . However, to get
'more drama and group comfort' have a 'group-of the-whole cocktail
hour' beforehand at a location with people signing up at the cocktail
hour with the 'dining host'. Cocktails at 5pm with dinner at 7pm.

Also we may wish to continue a second Show Night without the Limo
Event. This gives another 'dress-up event' and maybe not as large of a
group.

Some addtional ideas so that the 'fun in vacation' continues...
. . . . .

Thanks, JoAnn. I'll respond when I have some time to think. I'm on the
road and I want to get this mailing out without being too late. :)

Densie used to have a web page that said "The first part of funeral is
fun ..." so I guess that's covered. :)

Speaking of the DelMar, I drove by there last night. One big totally
open dirt lot! Not a hint of the place or the antics that happened over
the years.

Oh well. Margeth, I can't help thinking of you. :) :) :)

A tautology is a proposition that always evaluates to true. Yes, a
check will be fine. Thanks. :) :) :)

The way it looks now, there's about a 95% chance that I *will* still be
in Las Vegas the weekend of Sep. 30 - Oct 2. Film at 11.

One thing we should never forget is that this is supposed to be fun,
both planning it and participating in it. :)
