Timeframe:

As most of you know, our Call For Comments on the proposed DLV dates
will expire in a few hours. Very few comments have been received, and
all that were received were in favor of the timeframe. No objections
to the proposed timeframe were received.

Therefore they (April 23 - 29) will be marked on the web site as final
and sent out in the general mailing, which will come out late tonight or
tomorrow.

Since the dates are now final, I initialized the working schedule and
seeded it with those activities which are more or less solid as of this
time. If there's anything that appears to be missing, please let me
know. Of course, everything on there can be assumed to be in pencil as
of this early date.

TG wedding at the DLV:

Well, the go-ahead really has to come from the group here as a whole and
not from me personally. I don't have any objection to it.

Comments, gang?

As for the best time, only one of the weekday evenings has anything on
it already, that being Thursday with the Limo Tour, although that's
not a totally done deal yet.

It would probably be best to avoid the two weekend evenings, so I would
say that Tuesday, or Wednesday would probably work the best.

Yes, I understand that we don't have the proverbial fat-cat father of
the bride acting as sugar-daddy for the whole affair here. :)

>They are flexible as to what night it can be held and know that they

>Please let me know how you feel about this so I can let them know.

I would say to have them pick a day, and suggest either Tuesday or
Wednesday evening, so we can tentatively place it on the schedule. There
may be one or more multi-track activities up against it, but I think it
will be popular enough to draw a very good percentage of our people.

I'm assuming that the gang will be invited to the ceremony as well as
the reception. Am I correct?

Any plans for a bachelorette party the evening before? :) :) :)

DelMar and getting together:

It would be great if you two can fly in. :)

The best guess as to a good time for something like this would most
likely be the weekend of the 23-24-25 of September. See some more
notes below.

Back in the early days we had a group that mostly knew each other on
line. Now we have a more diverse and divergent group.

I've still had fun every year, although I do admit I miss the atmosphere
we had back in 1998-1999 or so.

Let's face it, this past year (2005) many things did not go as well as
we expected. I won't re-recite the litany, but all of us know it too
well.

I believe that 2006 will be the (first) year where we see a decrease in
attendance from the previous year. I don't see this entirely as a bad
thing, nor do I see an overwhelming bail-out on the horizon.

I would like to focus the attention on making next year as great as
we can make it. I think we know a few things to not do, and I think
we have a good start on a few of the rough spots we had this year.

>Losing Margeth's attendance was a major blow. I hope she's really

>so far away! We miss her.

I miss Margeth too.

There are quite a few of the early DLVers I miss as well.

We do have to realize that circumstances don't always allow those who
want to attend to do so. :(

>No more Del-Mar, sob sniff, and did I mention boo-hoo? Has anyone tried
>to scavenge a souvenir from the site?

Hmmmm ... Maybe Ebay has some paraphernalia ... just checked, there are
artifacts from Del Mar Motels in Santa Barbara, Wauseon, Ohio, and
Deland, Florida, but none from LV.

>Ah well, maybe we just go out and party like we used to. Then maybe

I'm all for more "party" type activities, but we have to remember that
many of those memorable times were quite spontaneous, totally unplanned.

Get-together in September:

Nora writes:

>Please let me know when you will be here.

Since as of this time it looks like the project will be expanded
slightly, I may be spending more time in LV than I originally thought.

I'm going to try to steer things so I'll be there the weekend of the
23-25 of September. Details are still being worked out.

As of late yesterday, the carriers are not giving us hard dates for
facilities, but the middle to end of September appears to be the
ballpark timeframe.

>I suggest going to Suede. I think you will like it.

I'm assuming this is the new Sashas/Tramps place, correct? I'm sure
that will be fine. I had just suggested Steven Davids because I was
pleasantly surprised at the place, but if you think Suede will be a
better choice, I'm sure I will enjoy it.

I'm sure I can make it over to Steven Davids some other night if the
group would prefer Suede.
