A late mailing:
This mailing is going out a bit late, and I apologize for it, but you
will see from the last item that some snags have developed and we need
to get some discussion and some collective ideas going.

I'm doing something I very rarely do, and that is to leave a few
submissions out. These were really along the line of "I agree" to some
previous items that have already been settled.

I would like to ask everybody to please give our schedule a once-over
and look for any errors or omissions, or timings that don't appear
to be workable.

Various activity notes:
As everybody knows, activity sign-up started last Friday. As of this
time about 70% of them are filled out, the first reminder will most
likely go out before this mailing reaches you.
These are literally coming in as I type. Most everybody on the ORG list
has already filled theirs out. Thanks, gang! :)

The Slumber Party will most likely be filled with those who sign up for
both the LGTP and SP. As per Sarona, they will have priority over those
who sign up for the SP only, who will most likely all end up on the
waiting list.
+Tuesday, April 26:
+ 5:00pm Night Of The Soiled Doves II (CR - MV)
The price for the NSD II has been set at $15, which includes a DLV
2005 Commemorative Pin. Pins left over will be sold for $5 after
NSD while supplies last. NSD will include informal goodies such as
pizza and/or deli tray type stuff. Cash bar, of course. :)

Bertolini's is leaving the others in the dust on this one, with over 20
signed up so far. I talked to Michelle on line the other night and she
says that yes, she's willing to coordinate a larger crowd if needed. The
conversation went kinda like this:
A: There are right now over 20 signed up.
M: Holy {whatever}!
A: With the fallout rate, maybe 12 of them will show ...
M: {pause, looks at list}
M: I know most of them, and they will ALL show!

All of them are getting a fair number of sign-ups, so I think all of
them will work out fine.

Edy is currently going thru the motions of getting this together. We
hope to have the exact price and details shortly. Lorraine will be
receiving the baton on this one as Edy has to leave Wednesday morning.
Lorraine and Edy, please don't hesitate to ask for help on this one if
you need it.

This has been expanded to two parts as I think everybody is now aware
of.

Although I don't think anybody here has to panic, this one totally snuck
up on me! When the sign-ups started coming in, I watched this and on
Sunday it appeared to be filling, but not very fast. Then on Monday
after I got home from work I checked it and it was FULL, overflowing
actually.
I quickly put the full sign up, but unfortunately there are some who
have not gotten the word that they are on the waiting list. We'll be
making an announcement as to where things stand in the general mailing
this Sunday.
I don't think that anybody who signed up by Monday will not get to go.
There will be drop-outs and no-shows and the projections show that those
will most likely be safe. Besides, there are some who have already paid,
and I'll get with Jamie to have their place on line adjusted to show
their pay date as their sign-up date.
Sorry for any hassles on that one.

The Zingers situation:
I would like to ask all of you to please read the following carefully,
as several activities appear to be impacted, and one major one is at
risk, as is our risk for a "fizzle out" ending for the second year in a
row.
I would like to open the floor and encourage discussion and ideas for
solutions, focusing any discussion on the present tense and resolution,
as opposed to history and the personalities involved.

Here's what's going on.
The major item is that it appears that Zingers will not be available
for the Michael Cagle Show on Saturday as previously agreed upon.
There are other items, details follow, that affect other activities
as well.
Quite honestly, I am not at all happy about this, particularly the fact
that they waited until now to let us know, after repeatedly assuring us
that things were on track and everything would be to our liking.
Here are the Zingers-based activities and where they stand as of this
time:
1. Welcome Celebration, Sunday. Of all of these, this appears to be the
one that is still on track.
2. Pity Party, Thursday. Zingers has apparently added karaoke on Thursday,
and the timing is such that it would start right in the middle of the
Pity Party. The last I heard, our Zingers reps were trying to negotiate
a delay in the start of Karaoke, but this is not confirmed at this time.
3. Annual Mixer, Friday. We requested a period of "quiet social time"
prior to the nightly entertainment. It now appears that additional acts
will start earlier, cutting into this time severely. They appear to be
unwilling to bend on this one.
4. Michael Cagle Show, Saturday. Again, additional entertainment is the
reason that they said the facility would not be available at the agreed
upon timeslot. They have implied they are open to possibly rescheduling
at a different day/time.
That's the way things stand at this time.
Speaking freely, I am perceiving a radical change in attitude toward the
DLV group from the Zingers staff. We were repeatedly assured that things
would be as we desired, and here we stand 2+ weeks away with some major
snags and what appears to be an unwillingness to go forward with plans
that were agreed upon some time ago.
Anyway. Here are my comments on the 3 items that are impacted, and I
would like to hear any comments or ideas that any of you may have.
Pity Party. This late in the game I think we should try to work
something out with them to delay the start of Karaoke, with Mindy making
the final decision as to how to handle this one.
Annual Mixer. We need feedback and ideas on this one, the sooner the
better. Do we want to move this one (back) to Goodtimes for quiet
socializing with a later move to Zingers for Lou Martinez, or do we want
to keep it at Zingers for better or for worse, working around the
entertainment du jour?
Cagle Show, I see the following options:
1. Move to another day at Zingers. The only evening we have that
would possibly work is Monday, and I don't want to do that. It's
not one of our prime evenings.
2. Michael stated that he may have another facility which we could
use for his show on Friday. As of this time we asked him to please
look into this. No report yet. This may impact the Annual Mixer,
but I think that would be workable.
3. Another facility was suggested to us off line. One of our
people has been asked to make contact, but as of this time it's
too early to even announce it as a tentative plan.
4. Cancel the Cagle Show. I don't want to see this happen.
The one thing I don't see is an option is moving the Cagle Show to one
of our other prime evenings, as that would most likely trigger a
recursive reshuffling of several activities after sign-up has started.
I see us having Friday, Saturday, and possibly Monday to work with in
this little game.
I want to at all costs avoid a weak ending to DLV!
That's the way things stand, gang. Comments, suggestion, discussion,
and ideas would be appreciated.
