Org List:

This is the DLV 2005 Organizational Mailing List (dlvorg@geekbabe.com)
Replies to this message will be forwarded to the DLVORG list and not
the DLV-Announce or DLV-Discuss list.

Ongoing activity database appears on the web at:

Things to come:

Historically this is the slowest time of the year for DLV interest, so
don't be surprised if this list skips one week or more between now and
the end of the year.
. . . . .

Currently on the plate are the following:

1. Remaining hotel nominations and discussion.

2. Ongoing activity discussion, including bars and facilities.

3. Pin project. Please take a look at:

http://www.geekbabe.com/annie/pinfin1.png as it's the final production
art, monochrome, with the colorized version at:

http://www.geekbabe.com/annie/pinfin1c.png

These are both 300dpi images, and will show up much larger than actual
size when viewed with a web browser. If you want to see them actual
size, use a viewer that supports 300dpi.

The project is moving along quite nicely and it looks like the actual
order will be placed in the next week or so.

Last call for comments, objections, etc.
. . . . .

If there are any items that need to be brought up regarding the
strategic aspects of DLV 2005, now is the time.

Our next milestone is the vote on our suggested hotels, which this year
will also call the question on the Event Hotel proposal.

As we've done the past few years, around Thanksgiving (third Thursday in
November in the States) we'll wind things down on the ORG list until
after the holidays. During that month the only items that will be sent
out are those of some degree of urgency.

Also in November and December I'll be asking the people on the list here
to help shake down and debug the on-line registration functions for DLV
2005.
. . . . .

For those who follow these things, our general mailing list has now
dropped below 500 members due to unsubscribes and undeliverables. It now
sits at 499. My guess is that it will grow to the 550-575 range by DLV
2005. This is just a guess based on trends.

And, for those who care, the Pinkfest list just broke 100 a few days
ago. :)

Bar update:

Michelle (NV) writes:

Actually, that will be my pleasure. :) :) {ducking and running} :)

This is yet another new one.

Zodies? As in "what's your sign?"?? Sounds so, uh, 70's. :) :) :) :)

What is the overall climate? You said "Tgirl bar", so do you mean aimed
at the t* community as customers, or aimed at the admirers or what?

Dance floor? Is the atmosphere quiet enough to allow conversation?

Any entertainment?

Food service?

This is a definite possibility for a DLV gathering.

Thanks for the updates, Michelle.

Looks like we may have several new places from which to choose next
year. Looks like that makes 2 opening in the Triangle District. If
even half of these new places materialize and stick, we'll have a
good selection for DLV 2005.

Nominations, FSE, Monorail:

Diane writes:

>Morning,

Hafa Adai :)

Ok, the nominated hotels as of this time are (in order of nomination):

Sahara
Boardwalk
Imperial Palace
San Remo (Hooters)

>Was up in Vegas on Thursday for a show at the Fremont street experience
>(Across from the 4 Queens hotel). It has alot of people milling at
>night for the shows and shops - It might be a good evening stop for
>those who want something different. The USAF TOPSinBLUE show was
>wonderfull and was up on the 6 million light bulb screen.

FSE has been suggested over the years as a DLV outing.

I really think it would scare the heck out of a fair percentage of our
people to be turned loose down there. Plus knowing how our group tends
to gravitate toward each other in one mass, the group is gonna attract
attention.

However, we won't know unless we try it. :)

>Talked to the cabbie about the monorail. It's be up and down (in terms
>of operating). Doesn't sound like something that should be counted on
>for transportation.

I've been following this closely, as another group I'm active with has
an interest in such things. Latest reports are that they are selecting
outside parties to analyze the situation, and it will be weeks if not
months before the thing is operating again.

Conspiracy theorists are having a field day with this one. :) :)

Bars and Secret Garden:

Some of it is good, but some of it is the same old hash, rehashed.

There are a few sea stories, and a few interesting pictures of various
urinals and such.

LOL!

Ok, Friday 11am it is. :)

Hey, I resemble that remark!
