Getting down to the wire:
There are two items of major importance in this mailing, first the final
Saturday schedule, and the item that appear in the "extracurricular"
heading below, which actually has to do with Saturday as well.
I'm also flushing the queue of everything else of significance that has
come in since the last mailing.
First, the Michael Cagle Show is still without a venue, and it's time
to think of the possibility that this may not occur.
I want to have a drop-in replacement ready to go should this not
materialize.
Unless somebody proposes something else, I'm planning to replace the
Michael Cagle Show with the following sequence of activities, should
Michael not have a firm location by the LFM deadline:
Saturday, May 8:
[daytime activities not shown here]
6:00pm Happy Hour (San Remo "show" bar.)
7:00pm Dinner (San Remo)
8:30pm Farewell gathering (Flex)
Yes, I admit this would be somewhat of a ho-hum ending to an otherwise
very eventful week. I'm definitely not married to this, and I would
encourage any of you to propose an alternative, yes, something a bit
more exciting.
Comments?
Suggestions?

Thanks, Diane. I was unaware of any MCC having a Catholic-style mass. I
always regarded MCC as in the Christian/Protestant/Trinitarian branch of
the great taxonomy of religious organizations. Due to this, I'm going to
remove the term "Protestant" from the activity highlight going out in
the next general mailing.
I agree that the 10:00am service will work best. I will be arriving
about that time, so I will not make it, however.

High Tea Update:
>name of the tea room is cobblestone corner tea room, cafe and bakery
>address 6115 w. tropicana ave
Thanks, Mindy. I'll get an update out on the next mailing and an update
on the map and final schedule.

Pity Party clarification:
>i have run into a problem i dont know how to handle and perhaps you can
>help..
>it has gotten back to me that at least one person on the pity party
>list assumes that since she has agreeded to model and perform she
>shouldnt have to pay the party costs..
IMAO, this is a misunderstanding on her part, as you have never stated
that performing or modeling was a free pass into the activity. We have
never stated this in the mailings or on the sign-up screens, I know.
>well the party is pretty close to the nut and the 20 doller donation is
>required..
I agree. Either you have to make all pay, or increase the admission for
those not performing.
>i just dont know how to post that without sounding like a bitch.. "
>little help needed" as to how to make it clear that all attendees to
>the pity party need to pay.
I will make an announcement in the next general mailing. I'll be
pleasant but firm on that point.
One thing I want to see this year is that no activity organizer or
sponsor takes a bath. That's happened too many times over the past
couple years.
Also, those signing up have been told over and over that the sign-ups
are in most cases considered a reservation, and that payment is
expected. If you (or anybody) has an trouble getting payment from a
no-show, let me know and I will assist as much as possible.
I see no issue at all from assertively requesting payment from anybody
who has signed up for something where the cost was clearly stated.

Gun show anyone w/FFL:

I am also going to forward this to the Discussion Forum, as if there

not be coming out frequently enough between now and DLV to allow
this.

"Extracurricular" activity after DLV:
I would like feedback on this item as soon as possible, please.
Ok, gang, to make a long story long ... :)
On Saturday, around noon, the following message came in to the approval
queue for the DLV Discussion Forum.
+To: dlvdisc@geekbabe.com
+Subject: Closing DLV Party on the 8th
+From: Joanne <dlvdisc@geekbabe.com>
+Hello my name is Joanne from the YS Network..
+Opal Gemstone and I are having a closing party for Diva week on the
+8th. if you would like to attend ? Please RSVP here
+http://{removed} We look forward to seeing you all.
+Hugs
+ Joanne
BEFORE YOU CLICK ON THE ABOVE LINK, please be advised that it contains
nudity, including arousal and penetration (fellatio). Do not click on it
if you do not wish to view it. (Due to this, the archived copy of this
message will not contain the link.)
Because of this content (reasoning and administrivia on request) I
obviously did not forward the message to the approval process.
My first question to you, the DLV organizers, is: Are any of you aware
of this activity? (I see it hit some of the Yahoo groups this weekend.)
In particular are any of you acquainted with Opal and/or Joanne other
than being a casual site user? I'm not gonna bite anybody's head off for
responding affirmative, send to me confidentally if you want, and I will
respect such confidentiality, but as you'll see below we are having
trouble getting any response from them, and somebody acquainted with
them could help out greatly.
. . . . .
Joanne is not registered for DLV, at least under that name, or under
anything that I can quickly match up.
Opal Gemstone registered for DLV in early April, validated, and signed
up for activities all without any exception to procedure, however when
she did so, she marked all optional activities with a "no" response.
ebabz.com is obviously a tranny porn and meatmarket site. It appears
to be connected to another site called yourspecial.net [sic] with
similar content. Both (and others) appear to be fronted by a firm
calling themselves Paradigm Studios out of a mail drop in Diamond
Bar, CA.
. . . . .
As you can probably tell, I have mixed feelings on this.
My concerns, which are shared by two of the other ORG people here who
are also aware of this are along these lines:
1. Timing. A minor consideration. Things like this are typically very
late in the evening, but the web site does (did?) not state the times.
2. The "image" that any connection with this event would have on DLV.
3. The photos on the site. Since they show arousal and penetration, they
fail the "Miller Test" in some communities (not protected expression),
and we (geekbabe.com) cannot link to them under the Terms Of Service. A
quick off-the-clock conversation with my attorney tonight confirms this.
We can't link to this, or include it in any mailings. I am in fact
bending the rules a bit by posting the link above in this mailing list.
4. The use of the DLV logo. With it on their page, some may get the
impression that the two events are in some way connected or endorsing
each other. Although I have allowed (encouraged, actually) participants
to use the logo on their personal pages, a quick off-the-clock exchange
with the shar^H^H^H^Hattorney confirms that I/we can claim copyright on
it and insist they remove it. He did add that enforcing this would most
likely be an exercise in futility unless we had $$$ for legal expenses.
5. The non-response from Joanne and Opal to my attempt to contact
them. See below.
. . . . .
On the other hand, I do believe that there would be and is interest in
the DLV contingency for such an affair. This is not unlike the interest
there was in the Metamorphosis Fantasy Ball (which never happened) in
2002.
Something like this could be a relief for a possibly-anemic Saturday
lineup of activities. NO, I am NOT suggesting we place this on the
schedule as an official activity. I'm saying that it could draw enough
people such that any Cagle-replacement activities would not have to be
as large or intense.
. . . . .
Very shortly after the attempt to post occurred I wrote to Joanne with a
copy to Opal (copy on request). I expressed the concerns about timing,
site content, and image. Mail logs showed that both messages were
delivered to the respective mail receivers successfully, so I can assume
receipt.
As of this mailing, no response has been received. The "footprints" in
the web log show that they frequently checked the discussion forum to
see if their posting appeared, so it's very obvious to me that they are
simply choosing to not respond.
Anyway, I do not want to take any action, such as demanding they remove
the logo, or agreeing for some kind of limited exposure at DLV, before
we get a clear consensus (or vote, if necessary) of the ORG group here.
Please let your thoughts and feelings be known. Thanks, gang.
