Org List:

This is the DLV 2004 Organizational Mailing List (dlvorg@geekbabe.com)
Replies to this message will be forwarded to the DLVORG list and not
the DLV-Announce or DLV-Discuss list.

Ongoing activity database of proposed and scheduled activities on line:

Checking things over:

Yes, going out a bit early. Lots of things happening ...

Less than a month to go!

Activity sign-ups continue to come in. Looks like about 60% of the
original batch have done their sign-ups.

As some know, there are more issues with receiving the sign-up mailings
this year. This applies mostly to those who use either Hotmail or Yahoo.
Those two providers have their default spam filters sent in a way that
has classified many of these as spam.

I'm planning on sending a special mailing out tomorrow with the second
batch of sign-up mailings, explaining to check spam/bulk/junk folders
and to write in if not found or in case of trouble. I'm also going to
recycle those who have not responded yet into the second regular batch.

To be sure we're not missing anybody, this year I will send a personal
note to anybody who is due to be cancelled for non-response to the
activity selection. This note will be carefully tested against both
Yahoo and Hotmail to be sure it is not classified as spam, and will not
contain any URLs with variable information, which is apparently what is
triggering the spam filters.

If you want to see how many and who has signed up for your activities,
use the link above. This is updated hourly.

As of this time, the NSD trip (no surprise here) and Hamburger Mary's
are full. As I was checking the list, I find that I had somehow spaced
off signing up for HM, so I find myself on the waiting list. :)
. . . . .

I would like to ask everybody to look over the schedule shown below, and
please pay particular attention to activities that you are in charge of,
and look at the times and let me know if anything is not right. Also
look for things that end before your activities or start right after
them to identify any potential no-win time crunch issues while we still
have time to deal with them.

Another thing to look over, please take a look at the map at the URL:

http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/dlv2004/maps/

Please let me know if I'm missing anything. I think I have all activity
locations in there, with Desert Rose and Sams Town indicated with
arrows due to map size.
. . . . .

Large Final Mailing<tm> goes out on Monday the 26th. That's just 3
weeks away. If anybody has anything to be included, please speak up.
I'll be posting portions of this for proofreading shortly.

Another load of laundry:

Mindy? High tea? Any details yet? I am showing 19 currently signed up for
it.

Leah? Any news about Hidden Woman?

Has anybody informed Las Vegas Lounge that we will be invading their
facility on Tuesday the 4th? I know we have some regulars/occasionals on
the list here, so I'm asking any and all to please give them a heads
up.

MCC thoughts:

First of all, as I was checking some things I pulled up the LV MCC's
page and found out that, according to the web site, services begin at
10:00am and not 10:30am as we've had on the schedule. I have adjusted
the schedule to show 10:00 (meet at 9:45) pending confirmation.

Can those of you who are more familiar with LV MCC please confirm that
10:00am is the correct time for services?

Am I also correct that there is some kind of a social hour following
services?

(I'm moving this from off-line to ORG to keep everybody in the loop.)

(Partly from conversations ...)

As of this hour, we have 12 signed up. The magic formula says that you
should expect 7.8 out of those 12 to actually show up :) with 3+ weeks
still remaining.

It's really up to you if you want to assemble at San Remo and carpool
or meet directly at MCC, but please let us know so the assembly time
(if needed) and the instructions in the Large Final Mailing<tm> will
be correct.

>Since there may be eight or ten of us, I think I will alert the pastor.

This is your call, but my hunch is that there will be 10 or more
realistically. The numbers seem to change almost hourly, since there are
people signing up and changing all the time.

>You are right on with the dress code. It is a denin crowd, but a skirt
>and top will be appropriate.

>It is a serious worship and not a show, so we must show respect for the

I would *HOPE* that our people would realize this. I think that such a
thing as a religious service would not attract those who want to abuse
the dress guidelines.

>This is a very good opportunity for Diva to make a good impression on
>the local community.

>I have found worshiping the Lord while enfemme to be a very rewarding
>experience. I hope that others will share it with me.

I would like to use the two above lines as quotes for the activity
highlight in an upcoming general mailing.

Thanks for the update, Tootsye.

Restrooms at the Venetian:

The unisex restroom would be a good idea, but this one seems to be a bit
out of the way, and I'm sure a guard would spook some of our people. :)

Thanks, Anya. Hopefully we can encourage the group to use the out of the
way restrooms between the show and the limo tour ... appropriately, of
course.

Limo tour prepayment:

Tootsye, Jamie, how do you want to handle those who will not arrive
until Thursday and want to go on the limo tour? Do you want them to
request prepayment instructions, or do you want to consider them to
be good for the money? Your call. Lemme know. :)
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Roommates and Big Sisters:

Diane, can we get a report on how roommate matching is coming, please?

Nora, Jenni, how is the Big Sister matching coming?

Bowling update:

Michelle (NV) writes:

>Hi Annie its done Sams Town. i reserved it for 1 oclock. 2$ a game i

Ok, thanks, Michelle. It's on the sign-up with the details.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Capacity limits:

As you know, we're expecting a full house this year. NSD filled to
capacity within 2 days, HM is full, and a few others are approaching
capacity with about 30% of the sign-ups still outstanding.

Let's do a sanity check on the points at which we consider a few things
full.

I don't have a limit down for MCC. Do we need one? I don't expect a mob
at this one. Diane? Tootsye?

I'm setting the capacity of the Rhyolite side trip at 25. Anything more
than that I'm sure will be a mess. That's about the most I think I can
guide safely and comfortably on a trip like that.

I'm also setting the Hamburger Mary's capacity at 50. Last year we had
significant fallout on this, but we will have an adjusted estimate this
year based on the fallout rates we've seen the past few years.

I set the bowling capacity to 20. Michelle, is that realistic? Let me
know if you want this adjusted up or down.

Hard Rock dinner. I show this as capacity of 50. Deb? Ginger?

Art Tour. Sarah? Do we need a capacity limit on this? (Again, sorry
about leaving this off of the original sign-up screen.)

Mindy, I have golf down as a capacity of 32. Is this what you want for
this year?

Also, Mindy, I have 50 down for both the Pity Party and Garden Party.
30 down as the capacity for High Tea. Are these numbers realistic?

Gun show. Gina. As of now I don't have a capacity, but there are far
more sign-ups for this than I expected. Do you want to set a limit?

Those activities not mentioned we've already discussed or have a solid
limit already set.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Oops, Art Tour, my mistake:

I inadvertently left the Art Tour sign-up off the sign-up screen. Sarah
had stated "sign-up requested but not required" so I don't think any
harm or short-signup will result. It's been corrected. Sorry 'bout that.
