Thanks for the report. I think this may be a viable option. Tropicana
is indeed less expensive than most of the others in that neighborhood
and does not have as many kids as the others as well.

I'll sure ask Tiny on my next note, but I'm sure it's free-for-all with
hotel parking in the various lot areas around the property. I remember
parking for the casino/show was very easy. I'm sure they have valet at
the main door.

Ok, I'll put CGT on the schedule for Thursday, with the understanding
that it does not preclude any other plans for that evening.

It might be a good idea to avoid the Triangle district for any feature
activities for Friday and Saturday due to parking.

I'm sure you will want to do the dance thing on Friday. We'll mention,
as we did before, that parking may be a challenge, although, IIRC, Gipsy
does have valet parking.

There's nothing here preventing you from sending a multi megabyte file
attach via mail to the annie@annie.net (or annie@ivgate.omahug.org)
address. Any of the DLV list addresses will mangle (truncate) binary
files beyond recovery. After last DLV some people sent as many as 20
megabytes in a single attach.

>Now I am looking for a site to how this slide show. I remember you
>mentioned putting it on the server you use, whats that address again?

We can put it here on the DLV site, assuming it is within somewhat sane
limits. We'll announce the URL to this list first to get feedback before
opening it up to the general public. If it looks like it's gonna cause
a bandwidth issue, we may have to move it.

If you send it in, I'll get it on line and announce it to the list.

Badges:

Jena writes:

We'll put you down to help. Thanks. (You won't get out of it now. :)

I have a source of a large amount (not inexhaustable, but sufficient)
of the badge holders. I actually recycled a good portion of what I took
back into this supply, and it should be available this coming year.

I did the actual badges on a Deskjet printer. Standard card stock. One
pass in color for the DLV logo, another in black for the names from a
text file from the registration info. I did most of them a week in
advance and shipped them out in a box of all kinds of stuff, and I did a
late run right before I left for the airport to catch those who
registered late.

The most tedious part of this process is the stuffing of the cards into
the badge holders.

If you wanna take over any or all of this, I'm not gonna fight you for
it. :)

Hotels:

I've been doing a lot of thinking about this hotel thing, too much,
probably. :)

Specifically I was thinking about Yvonne's proposal of just suggesting
all which have been nominated, and rate/rank/detail all.

I was thinking it might be appropriate to call for a vote on Yvonne's
plan separately, ahead of a vote for the various properties, when I
realized that part of her plan, that being detail and ranking, would be
a good thing no matter which way we go. I then realized that Yvonne's
proposal could then be covered by the existing vote plan, and that is
those who want to see all hotels listed as suggestions, vote yes for
all of them.

One round of voting can cover many issues in one shot, such as
concentration vs dispersion, open listings, any special interests,
etc. For example:

1. Those who think we should concentrate more vote for one and only one
property.

2. Those who thing we should steer the group to one certain geographic
location, vote for those hotels in that area.

3. Those who favor Yvonne's plan, vote for all of them.

4. Those who have litmus-test issues (like political connections) with
properties, don't vote for them.

As for detail and ranking, we do have a lot of comments and opinions on
most of these places, plus the satisfaction and comfort scores from our
survey. We also have pointers to independent opinions on all of the
properties, such as bigempire/cheapovegas, ratevegas.com and such.

>Other than that, I think all the returnees know where they prefer to
>stay.

True. Looking back at the survey, most of our people were indeed
satisfied with their hotels, so I suspect most of the returnees will
stay put at where they were last May.

Shows and such:

Leah writes:

>The Weds and Thurs nite thing I am a bit confused about..... were we
>not planning on doing shows on Thurs and Sat again? Not sure.

Saturday is definite. Showgirls of Magic, San Remo. I don't think we
risk any major changes or closures here since they are expanding into
Reno as well.

As for Thursday ??????

>I am guessing that CGT and Sasha's were one in the same originally
>since that was the venue.... if we split those activities then we will
>be down to one show on Saturday?

Sasha's and CGT were originally one item, one evening at one place.

Wednesday and Thursday are still very much up in the air. We still have
the Improv thing at the Greek Isles scheduled (barring any changes or
closures, of course) and that would certainly count as a "show" but I am
hoping that one of us would indeed plan another show for Thursday.

>If that conflicts maybe Michelle would be willing to hold her event at
>Sasha's that night (Weds) instead of Thursday? I think we are running

>Could we combine Michael Cagle and CGT?

What I would like to do WRT Club Girl Talk is keep it on the schedule,
whenever it is, wherever it is. As Tina said, it may move again in
day/time or in venue.

>Problem there would be the socializing time...... after Cagle's show

>offense to Cagle's show in the middle of it?

I would like to let Michelle and the CGT people be the ones to make any
decisions if and when/where to move CGT if they want to do so. I don't
know how many regulars they have and how much of a routine they have
established and how much disruption it would be.

I do think CGT and DLV can reinforce each other if the timing is right.

>Right now I see it as strictly Club Girl Talk only on Thurs.... no show
>that night.

As of this day, hour, minute, and second, that is very correct. However,
I'm hoping that one of us (>>HINT<<) will coordinate something like a
show that evening, which would seque quite well into the limo tour,
which is planned but not scheduled yet.

>Weds. is Cagle's show and dinner I suppose then on your own. Is this
>correct or did I overlook something?

Yes, the Improv at the Greek Isles. I see this as a possible two-track
option.

>Maybe early dinner and Cagle at Sasha's then off to the show from there
>on Wednesday? Cancel La Cage? Stay at Sasha's for the whole night?

I see remaining at Sasha's or going to the Greek Isles or (whatever) as
multi-track options.

>Bet you are sorry you put me on this list now, huh? lol

Nope, very glad to have you here. :)

Getting together:

There's a good chance that I will be in Las Vegas on business during the
first part of the third week in December. I'll send out a note both here
and to the main list as this is firm and as the date approaches. I would
love it if we could get a group together for maybe dinner and drinks
some evening.
