Bugs are a hot-button item for any hotel. A call to the desk will
usually get you a room change immediately. If you don't feel like
moving, they will send somebody to spray when you are away. Usually an
adjustment on your bill will be in order, especially if the hotel people
verify there are bugs. The last thing a hotel wants is to get the
reputation of having bugs.

But anyway, I think we can assume bugs are not regular guests there. :)

I've been in touch with Tiny, and they are excited about having a larger
group do the show next year. I said I would be in touch when our plans
have become more firm.

They seemed to be friendly, or at least t-oblivious when we were there.
The wait for a drink person (at the machines) seemed to be a bit longer
than it is most places, but this was only one time. Showroom staff and
bar staff were friendly.

Schedule issues:

The (few, fortunately) negative comments I heard about activities and
scheduling this past DLV seemed to echo two opinions:

1. Too many activities in too short a time. Not enough time to get ready
and get there. Back-to-back activities with no freshen-up time.

2. Too many moves. Schlepping people from one venue to another to
another did not go over well with some.

Regarding item 1, instead of setting hard-and-fast rules on how many
activities to schedule (which will be broken just as soon as somebody's
pet activity comes along), let's consider, when scheduling anything, the
time periods before and after, and the circumstances. For example, golf
will take more freshen-up time afterwards than dinner.

Let's also consider more multi-tracking if we have more activities than
we have reasonable time. For example, slumber party OR karaoke, instead
of slumber party AND karaoke.

As for item 2, unless we concentrate most major activities in one
location (OMDB) there will be some moving and some transportation
issues. Hey, this is Diva Las Vegas, not Be-All! We can do a number
of things to ease the crunch, including:

1. Leverage locations. We had a very good segue planned for Friday, from
Carluccio's to Goodtimes, but plans fell thru. Another suggestion was to
dine at the same location as a show, or to end an activity with a meal
at that same location.

2. Adequate timing when moving. Again, scheduling.

3. More coordination and cooperation regarding rides. We've had a
suggestion to make it a policy that those needing a ride to anything
gather at the valet park are of their hotel 30 minutes before an
activity start time, and drivers drop by to take on passengers at that
time. Another suggestion was that those wanting to participate in the
driver/rider program should stay at one of the suggested hotels.

Same here. I was happy with the room, the food, and the service, except
for one incident of an overly-ambitious housekeeper, which did not
repeat.

>3. The venues were all OK with me. Flex, Goodtimes and Sashas, should

Agreed on all of those.

>4. I brought two formals to dlv2002 because I thought you had to wear
>one to get into the event that was cancelled. I can't remember the
>name, Outrageous, or something like that!

That was the Metamorphosis Fantasy Ball. We learned rather late that the
thing was cancelled. I dunno if it has ever happened, but it is/was
supposed to be a monthly affair.

Now, if you want a reason or excuse to wear that formal, we did have
several where that would have been appropriate, such as both production
shows, the limo tour, or even such a thing as the Boardwalk Reception.

>Anyway, I was dissappointed that I did not get to wear a formal!
>Perhaps we could schedule something where a formal would be
>appropriate?

There's always gonna be a demand for dress-up activities, so you can
get the other one out in sight next year, if not before. :)

>5.I do not do well after midnight, so I enjoyed the afternoon events.

>6. Las Vegas is definitely the place!

Yes! Sure, they tried turning Las Vegas into Disneyland, but all they
got was a sleazy Atlantic City. :) (Maybe that's why I could never find
the entrance to Club 33.) Fortunately they've been turning it back into
Las Vegas lately.

There have been no serious suggestions to move DLV elsewhere or rotate
it between cities (ala the late Fall Harvest) since 1998. I'm happy to
say that it's a dead issue now!

>7. At my age, *social* does not necessarily mean *party*. Some of the

>that you had not been so busy and that we could have enjoyed a quiet

At any age, social does not necessarily mean party, and party does not
necessarily mean loud. :)

There is a recurring theme in the feedback, and that is that semi-quiet
social time is valued by our people. If you look at the survey results,
the ratings of such things as the Annual Mixer, Pre-DLV, etc. reflect
this. They are not nearly as "exciting" as many of the others, but our
people enjoy them greatly.

>I will respond as best I can to this list, but I am camping at an R/V

Well, have fun while you are out of touch. :)

Mindy, do you care to comment on this incident? I'm sure there will be
no objection if this report is passed on to management.

>I stayed at the Aladdin and it was only $65 a night. The rooms are HUGE

>Just a suggestion

$65 is very reasonable for the Aladdin! How did you get this rate? I'm
assuming it was a weeknight rate. Travelocity is showing $139/75, which
is again, very reasonable, imao. If those rates carry over to the DLV
dates next year, I think that will be a possibility.

Telephone support:

Burning question ... Is this something we want to offer, primarily for
those who do not have Internet access.

For DLV 2002 we had one person attend who does not have Internet access.
One of our volunteers did the phone traffic. It seemed to work but I'm
sure this person was somewhat out of the loop.

Cat, who did the phone communication with the one person, has
un-volunteered for DLV this year due to other commitments.

Second burning question, is there anybody here who would like to
volunteer to take and make phone calls on behalf of DLV?

Possible RHPS shakeup:

Word going around in RHPS circles is that the Paradise 6 Theater has
been sold and the new owners are about to renovate it (about time) and
turn it once again into a first-run house as opposed to a discount
theater as it has been for the past several years. Therefore the use of
this for a RHPS venue is at least in question.

What this may mean for DLV is that there may or may not be a new theater
and/or cast playing in Las Vegas in April/May of 2003. I'll keep an eye
on this (and I know a few others will too) and report what I hear.
