Yes, you got one of these just the other day, but a lot more material has
come in and we still have some planning on some major items to do.

Ok, looks like Flex is a good candidate for a Pre-DLV thing. I've seen
it, never stopped in. Out on Charleston about Arville, I believe.

Comments? Do we wanna pencil this in? (See other comments below.)

Milano's is a place that we may very well outgrow. Fortunately their
early-evening weekday business is slow. I intentionally put this as the
very first item, as it will get the smallest crowd of all of our
activities.

The food is very good, however, and our people love it.

>As for the tenative schedule, did I miss something here (which I
>probably did)...is going to "Hidden Woman" included, or is that part
>of the mall crawl?

We don't know. That's kinda one of the loose ends. I have written to
Leona but have not received a response yet.

Update: Mail receiving error. Resent, received response. She is open to
about any option we can think of, within reason, of course.

We probably don't wanna do this as part of a mall crawl for a number of
reasons. First, to be equitable to both the t* boutiques, we need to
give HW a slot as the primary activity of that time period, as we have
promised to GB.

I have a feeling if we did HW during a mall crawl, we would probably get
distracted there and crawl no further. :)

Let's discuss this and let her know what we would prefer ...

I see a few options here ...

First of all, I put the Mall Crawl in there on Saturday as kind of a
place holder, hoping somebody will schedule something new and exciting
as a daytime activity on the day that we will have our largest crowd.

Saturday afternoon has been mentioned as a time we could do a HW Open
House, with the Mall Crawl as a second-track option for those who want
more of a "civilian" experience.

Wednesday afternoon is still open, ditto for Friday afternoon except the
golf will overflow past noon, and a HW Open House would fit either
afternoon as well. We have a Glamour Boutique Open House scheduled for
Thursday afternoon.

My only concern about a Saturday HW Open House is that I have a feeling
that they (HW) may be overwhelmed by hairstyling and makeover requests
that afternoon and evening before the show (assuming we go to one, that
is).

So, the big question is, do we do HW on Wednesday or Saturday (or even on
Friday aft.)?

Comments? Ideas?

Speaking of T* boutiques, how is Glamour Boutique doing? Haven't heard
much about them lately? Anybody know?

I sure don't know if they are the same or different. I do know the area
of Trop/Pecos and that should not be too hard to find for anybody.

Ok, scratch that one off the list, actually, let's keep that on the
standby list in case we're really stuck for a place some evening.

Personally, I would think ordering off the menu would be fine, unless
there's a big demand for something else. Comments?

>Any problems filling up the loose ends of the schedule at one of the
>same places we went to already....like Goodtimes or Hamburger Mary's?

Those two don't concern me. What really concerns me is lack of plans
for Saturday evening.

Is Cobalt still around? I had heard it closed, or was closing, I think
that was mentioned on this list.

+>My name is Leona Floming. I just opened a tranformation boutique called
+>the Hidden Woman at 610 E. Sahara # 7 Las Vegas.

+Hi, I'm Annie, one of the organizers of the yearly trip we call Diva Las
+Vegas. I understand you have been in contact with Leah, one of our local
+people, and she has passed on info about your shop to us.

+Although we have never met, I've heard about the shop, and everything
+I've heard has been very positive.

+As you may or may not know, DLV is quite different from the majority of
+the t* community events that go on, such as Southern Comfort, Cal
+Dreaming, etc. We call it a "vacation, not a convention" and the theme
+has worked quite well. We get people from all over the transgender
+spectrum, from those just peeking out of the closet, to those who are
+post-op fully transitioned, to flamboyant drag queens, and even a few
+admirers.

+>I carry everything you will need from make-up to wigs to gowns to
+>breastforms and all the accessories. I also have a complete make-over
+>salon.

+>I would like to find out any information I can on being a part of dlv
+>i.e. offering discounts, having groups visit the Hidden Woman. Offer my
+>make-over packages and so on.

+The first thing I want to do is to get you on our mailing list. This
+will keep you in the loop as to what is happening, all the things that
+are planned, etc. Mailings will usually come out each Sunday.

+The most important thing you can do you have already done, and that is
+to be there for our people. I *know* you will get walk-ins throughout
+the DLV period, which is from April 30 thru May 5.

+Leah has said that you would be interested in doing some things for the
+DLV people, and I'll summarize and comment here.

+1. I think a good idea would be to designate one day as your "open house"
+for the DLV people. I see two possibilities. One is Wednesday, which will
+not see the greatest number of people, but will give you more one-on-one
+time with the people who show. Second is Saturday, and Leah said you
+might want to do some kind of instructional makeover thing. There also
+may be a demand for some instructional wig styling.

+2. Individual makeover sessions, both transformation and instructional.
+I see the demand for this occuring primarily on Saturday, since that
+will be the big evening out on the town, but I'm sure there will be a
+demand on Thursday (evening we go to La Cage) and Friday (Annual Mixer)
+and others. Leah had said you could do hotel "house calls" and I think
+there will be a demand for this.

+3. A discount would be nice, as an incentive to get our people into
+your place. We don't expect you to give away the store, <g> but I'm
+sure the added sales would more than make up for a modest discount.

+4. Leah had mentioned that you may be willing to receive packages for
+our people, so they do not have to worry about the baggage inspections
+that are now occurring at the airports. This would be a very nice
+gesture and I'm sure it would drive business your way, I mean, they
+have to enter your sales floor to pick up their package. :)

+5. Participate. You're most welcome to attend any or all of our
+activities. We have a super group of people. Since there's no charge
+to register, please feel free to show up any time you want.

+Anyway, let me know what works for you, and we will work it into our
+schedule of activities.

+You were not open yet the last time I was in Las Vegas, but if I get in
+town between now and DLV, I'll certainly stop by. I do get into LV
+occasionally on business, but not on a regular schedule. The way it
+looks now I won't be coming in between now and just a few days before
+DLV.

+If you have any questions, concerns, or ideas, please let me know. My
+e-mail is: annie@annie net and my personal web page is:

+Thanks,

+annie :)

Ok, I'm gonna put air tours in there for Thursday morning. Gina, is this
ok with you?

>We will be arriving the weekend of the 27th and leaving Monday or
>Tuesday after DLV, so we'll be there for everything.

I still don't know my schedule yet. There is a chance one of our vendors
will even pick up my N+I tab this year, but that's not in stone yet.
I'll probably fly in either that Sunday or Monday early. Dunno when I
will be leaving yet, though.

I'm planning to send out a note about photos to all who register, sent
just before DLV in the "War and Peace" mailing. I want to make it very
clear that photos will be taken, it's ok to opt out, but very uncool to
cheerfully pose dead-center and later request to be blacked out.

If anybody wants to see my first draft, please let me know.

One thing I've noticed at Goodtimes is they seem to put out a variable
number of tables on different evenings. We could probably ask them to
put out more if needed. Of course, there is a certain advantage in
getting people to mix if there are not enough seats for everybody.
There's also a lot of tables and chairs in that room toward the front
that we use for photos.

The place physically has more than enough room for the largest crowd
we've ever seen and then some.

Never been there, but, with two recommendations ...

If anybody has any objection to a preliminary selection of Flex for the
Pre-DLV thing, please speak now or forever ...

-----8<------->8-----

>Not to create confusion, but is Hamburger Mary's just a restaurant, or

Bar and restaurant, if I am correct. A cow-orker briefly described the
chain to me that way.

> 8:30 DLV Cocktail Party at Boardwalk
> 9:30 DLV Gambling Night at Boardwalk
> 11:00 Karaoke at Goodtimes (come sing your Blondie tunes)
> Later Slumber Party (and swap meet)

This could work. Another option is to have the Boardwalk reception and
gambling on Thursday (no meal planned that nite) prior to La Cage,
with those not going to La Cage continuing at the tables and machines
at Boardwalk. Comments, gang?

>I think we should accept Boardwalk's offer (originally transmitted via

>In essence, the DLV Cocktail Party is that night's DLV welcome
>reception.

Let's get some feedback from both Mindy and from the other DLVORG-ers on
this. One problem I can see is us trying to move the crowd to too many
places too fast. With those who are fashionably late to dinner, 90
minutes is cutting it close. I can see a subgroup of them (especially
those who are new/shy) just wanting to hang around HM's until either
Karaoke at Goodtimes or the pajama party up the street.

Mindy, is this offer still on the table?

Also, while we are on the topic of the Boardwalk, we have yet to see
any black-and-white hotel rates for the Boardwalk. When might we
expect this?

Comments, gang? Is this the one we wanna do on Saturday?

More importantly, volunteers to make it happen?

>La Femme tickets are $49, which is a decent price for a Vegas show.

Yes, quite decent, actually, especially for a large-scale Saturday
evening show!

Dress suggestions:

Yes, it is. :)

But I would much rather read this than pr0n spams and Nigerian swindle
drek.

>I just wanted to start by saying that your suggested dress code piece
>is excellent.

Thank you {blush} :) One clarification. I didn't intend it as a "dress
code" but more of a set of guidelines or suggestions, some subtle, some
strong.

Yes, yes, and yes. :) ... and then some.

What I call the "groupie look" is hard to describe, but when you see it,
you know it. Kind of a combination of outfit selection and poise, or
lack of such. What Densie calls the "Walter Matthau Look" is kind of a
subset of this, the stereotypical dude in a dress look. We do have a few
examples of this each year. I'll point out one to you if/when I see it.

Hotels, limos, etc.:

From now on, whenever I have any significant correspondence regarding a
vendor or something I'm gonna copy it to this list, to keep everybody in
the loop and to be sure everybody's on the same page.

Aiko and Yvonne, I dunno if you've booked a limo(s) yet, but I took the
liberty of asking for a price here, I figured it could not hurt.

{begin included text}

+Hi Bob,

+I'm not sure which is the correct e-mail address for you, the one I have on
+file is different from the note I'm replying to, so I'm sending to both.

+>this is bob in las vegas,, mindy recommended me to you
+>please give me a call 702-365-0008 for rooms, limos, dinners, mountain
+>picnics, and more......

+>check out my web site www.gamingdestinations.net

+>call for reservations

+Here's what we need, Bob.

+First of all, we would like you to give us a quote on the best rates you
+can give our people at the Boardwalk and the Imperial Palace. DLV runs
+from Tuesday, April 30, thru Sunday, May 5. Some will be coming for all
+of that period, some for part of it, some will extend either before or
+after or both.

+Second, we've tentatively decided on a Saturday trip to the LaFemme
+production show. What kind of a deal can you get for us for tickets?
+I'm estimating about 30 or so for this, but the exact number will not
+be known until shortly before the event.

+Third, we have a limo tour scheduled for Thursday evening. I'm not the
+one coordinating it, and I don't know if those who are have selected a
+company yet, but we would appreciate a price quote for 1-2 limos for
+three hours, beginning about 11:00pm or so, the exact time being when
+the later La Cage show gets out that evening.

+Fourth, you (or Mindy, maybe) has said that you have discount air and
+air/hotel available. Can you please give us some example prices for both
+air (arriving April 30, leaving May 5) and air/hotel for that period. We
+have people coming from all over, but if you want to price one example,
+you can use Omaha (OMA), Detroit (DTW), Kansas City (MCI) or Atlanta
+(ATL) since I know we have people coming from all of those.

+Any questions, please let me know.

+Thanks in advance,

+annie :)
