Late-breaking items:

In case you wonder why this mailing is a few hours late, I stopped the
batch that was to send it out last night so I could include a few late
breaking items from Las Vegas.

We had a nice get-together last night at Keys. As you would probably
figure, DLV was discussed quite a bit. There are a lot of things
happening, both in the good news and bad news columns.

First the good news ... :)

1. Glamour Boutique is open and is already doing a good business. There
is a chance, not definite yet, but a good chance, that they will be
willing to bring makeup artist Jamie Austin to the Las Vegas store for
the DLV week! I told them that we could not guarantee any minimum number
of sessions, but that makeovers, both general and instructional, would
definitely be in demand.

They also want to host an "open house" type thing for the DLV people.

2. RHPS. A new Las Vegas cast is forming, consisting of KT (the GOOD
Frank), the couple that does Riff/Magenta, and others, including Anthony
from Glamour Boutique. They had hoped to have a theater by H'ween, but
it looks like that will come shortly after.

3. Dinner at Keys on Wednesday is a go. They love us there. :) Thanks to
Leah for making this happen.

4. Dinner on Friday at Carluccio's is also a go. Thanks again to Leah
(in unison "thanks, Leah") for coordinating this.

5. Golf is a go for Friday, and there seemed to be quite an interest at
the table last night. Thanks to Mindy for coordinating this.

6. Freezone has apparently seen the light and it is reported they are no
longer being anal about their facilities.

Now from the bad news department ... :(

1. Las Vegas Fantasy Tours has closed. I stopped over there yesterday in
the afternoon just to say hi, and found them not there. Last night
people confirmed that Robyn is indeed moving to Oregon. We wish Robyn
the best on her ventures.

2. LV Lounge has indeed slipped even more. Rumor (unconfirmed) that the
place may be up for sale. I'm gonna definitely yellow-light this on the
list.

3. Rumor that one of the smaller shops our people have liked may be also
going out of business. I'm going to drop over there this afternoon and
check this out.

4. Hard Rock Casino has apparently become t-unfriendly. I'm planning to
spend some time playing there this afternoon to see if I can sense any
of this.

5. Michael Cagle has disappeared. Not seen or heard from for some time.

Moving right along:

We've got a little over a month to go until this list shuts down for the
holidays. We've made FANTASTIC progress. It seems like the majority of
the things are planned and in place.

I think we should have our schedule mostly set by the holidays, which it
is to a certain degree now. There are several items that can be moved or
tweaked if necessary, but I think most of our big things are now in
place.

Let's take a few minutes and look at the holes in the schedule and the
things that will have to be decided upon and put in place.

Holes in the schedule:

1-2: Wednesday-Thursday afternoon. I'm grouping these together since they
are both options for a number of things. I want to move the "Mall Crawl"
to one of these if somebody will {HINT} suggest and plan something
more exciting for Saturday afternoon.

The skydiving thing would fit in either afternoon.

Ditto for Star Trek thing over at the Hilton.

3: Friday afternoon. We have golf scheduled in the morning, but we should
have something as an alternative. Mall Crawl is a possibility for those
who are not golfing if {HINT} somebody plans something for Saturday
afternoon. Skydiving would fit here, but I'm sure Densie and Tony will
want to do both golf and skydiving. Star Trek would fit here too, but
Friday would have more of a crowd (spelled k-i-d-s) than Wednesday or
Thursday.

Blanks to be filled in:

There are some things we have to decide upon regarding a few of our items
that have blanks still in place.

1. Saturday Evening Show. This is probably our biggest and most important
outstanding item. I think it's time to open discussion on what show we
want to see. We will also need one of us (that's us, the people reading
this right now) to step forward and "adopt" this.

2. Sunday afternoon side trip. I'm thinking something closer and not as
all-day than Rhyolite or Grand Canyon would work best here. Something
scenic and relaxing such as Valley of Fire. Comments?

Loose ends, dangling suggestions, etc:

1. North rim Grand Canyon trip. Looking at the schedule, If this is to
happen, it would be an all-day thing, starting in the early morning, and
possibly running into the evening hours. I think it's safe to say that
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are out. Wednesday or Thursday would be
ok as an all-day thing, but I think there is a risk that people would
be late for, or not have time to get ready for the evening activities.

Somebody (Michelle?) suggested this as a pre-pre-pre DLV thing on the
weekend before or the Monday before. This might be the best option.

2. Boating and waterskiing. Densie, where do we stand on this? Last
report I can find was there may be mechanical issues.

LV Lounge feedback:

>>>So, I left. On the way out a gentleman who was standing near the
>>>jukebox told me, "I wouldn't take it so hard - that s*** has been
>>>happening a lot around here, lately."

>>Comments?

>Yes. I'm afraid I must concur. Las Vegas Loungs is not as friendly as
>it used to be.

Thanks. :( We don't have any activities planned for LV Lounge for DLV
2002 and from the feedback, we probably will not be planning any.

We have a winner:

Congratulations to Rhianna, who is the first to register for DLV 2002.
Rhianna's registration came in at 12:53 CDT last Sunday.
