This mailing:
Late note ... this mailing is several hours late mainly due to the fact
that I was out of town and did not have *any* net access last night.
There are a few new items which have been received, and they will appear
in the next mailing.
Things are moving right along fine. Keep those activity ideas coming,
gang. Don't be afraid to suggest things that haven't been done or
tried before.
Oh, in case there's any confusion, this is the DLVORG list. The other
one you received (or should have received) is the regular DLV monthly
update. This time the schedules happened to almost coincide.

Annie in Las Vegas:
Due to a strange set of circumstances, I will be spending the night of
September 16th (Sunday) in Las Vegas. If anybody would like to get
together, please let me know. (e-mail: annie@annie.net) We could even
do something like get a group together at Keys if there is interest. Let
me know if you are interested. I'll be in Las Vegas Sunday evening and
Monday morning (September 16-17).

RR and schedule:
>>Is Red Rooster still around. Did you ever find out? (Just curious :)
>They definitely don't use their old Web site URL and their old phone
>numbers don't work. I've asked several people but never found out just
>exactly what happened. The one thing I didn't do in 2001 was drive
>over to see if the building and associated properties were still there.
>I might do that in 2002. The biggest difference between Red Rooster
>and commercial swing clubs like the one in the Commercial Center is
>that the people who ran Red Rooster did it because they were truly
>interested in fostering the swinger scene, not just in making money.
>It had a really comfortable, welcoming atmosphere where the owners took
>a personal interest in you and that you were enjoying yourselves.
...
>>Only radical thing I did was to plug in the FI show on Thursday
>>evening.
>I like that idea very much. Since girls really like the FI shows, I
>think it will help to get people to come out to DLV earlier in the
>week. I know that some girls can only get away for the weekend, but I
>hope that this earlier start will encourage more to come out and stay
>for all week, thus boosting attendance at the events earlier in the
>week (particularly Tuesday and Wednesday).
>With that idea in mind, do we really want to refer to Tuesday as a
>"pre-DLV get-together"?
I dunno. I think I was the one who started that term a few years back
when we realized a number of the people were gonna be in town one day
early. We had a pre-DLV thing at Goodtimes on Thursday and then our
usual welcome thing there the next day on Friday.
>Maybe we should call it the "DLV Debutante
>Ball" or "DLV Coming Out Party", or something equally interesting.
>Something to stir up interest in attending. Any thoughts?
Well, I'm not really married to the "Pre-DLV" name, so if you or anybody
can come up with something else, why not.
>Comments:
>I like the existing title of Wednesday as the "Welcome Celebration".
>The main event on Saturday is the Legacy LV show or newer artsy show.
>Without trying to pick the show now, any ideas on what people want to
>see? I am particularly interested in seeing what qualifies as an
>"artsy show". I hope that girls think adventurously.
I used the term "artsy" to mean something like Mystere or Blue Man Group,
the latter being one of my all-time faves of those I've seen in LV. "O"
or DeLaGuardia (soon to close) would also fall in that category.
Legacy, of course, refers to any of the several remaining headliner or
variety shows, Folies being one example, others being Splash, Wayne
Newton, etc. Things like S&R, EFX and LOTD really don't fall in either
category (IMAO) but they might be of interest to our group.
We're gonna have to decide as a group which show it's gonna be, whether
it's an arbitrary decision, consensus, or call for votes. Also, somebody
is gonna have to "adopt" the activity and do the necessary legwork to
make it possible for our people to go. As we've seen before, some shows
(like Kenny Kerr) are trivially easy, but others require a lot of hoop-
jumping to get our group sitting together.
Any volunteers?

Limo and such:
>I could be wrong...please let me know if I am... but I didn't see it on
>the tentative schedule... please don't forget about a possible 'limo'
>ride. Or was it decided not be added this year? ... if so please ignore
>this email.
Well, I won't ignore this in any case ... but the limo trip remains on
the suggested list, not scheduled at this time. It may or may not make
the actual schedule, depending on if somebody grabs it and "adopts" it,
meaning agrees to do the legwork to make it happen.
Tina, who coordinated this last year, has specifically volunteered to
not do this again this year, in order to concentrate her efforts on
something new and different. I wonder what that will be ...
... I shiver with antici ...
... {SAY IT!}
Pation!
>I was looking at the tentative schedule, and to avoid conflicts with
>other popular activites on certain nights, it could be a activity right
>after the FI show set for thursday(? cant remember and I don't have the
>listing in front of me).
Yes, the FI show has been tentatively slotted in for Thursday, and yes,
a limo tour could easily follow, IFF somebody {hint} steps forward to
{hint} agree to coordinate it.
>This might draw more people to attend this event, at least for those
>who go to the FI show. I think a key part to the success and fun of the
>event was that as the ride was progressing going up and down las vegas
>blvd, the group was able to find fun places to go see ... stop there...
>and take groups shots...along with learning the history or significance
>on why we stopped there.
I thought it was just a very nice relaxing ride. I thought it might drag
on after a couple hours, but no, it seemed like it was over just after
it started.
>I'm just thinking on the spot here...but we could have traditional
>photo stops each year to certain well known locations.
Yes, we stopped at the Delmar, in remembrance of one particular
incident, and I suppose next year we could stop at the 4 Queens in
remembrance of another, if we {hint} get to do it again this coming
DLV. :)
>I hope you are doing well!
Oh yes, at least much better than in Feb. of 2000. <semi grin>

Ok, thanks. I'll keep that in mind in case I ... :)
>The owner of the Primm mall was on the news quite a bit when the

Yes, I wonder if this will saturate the market. I know that smaller
outlet mall just south of Belz is struggling. On the other hand, Primm
does get all that El-Lay to Las Vegas traffic. (And so does Barstow.)

Some Karaoke (hmmmmm, is "karaoke" a common or proper noun?) MC's will
have a list of their popular stuff. You can always go ask "do you have
any ...?" and such.

Ok, one vote for Frank noted. I do agree with your point, and think we
should probably alternate, assuming we continue to do one and only one
FI show each year.
How is Kenny doing out in Summerlin? Anybody know?

T* shops:
>>Glamour Boutique has just opened a shop in Las Vegas, just up the
>>street from Keys. ...
>Hey, that makes two shops in Vegas just for T-girls. Do you think,
>maybe, that DIva had something to do with this phenomenon?
Well, probably not directly, but I'm sure DLV in a minor way has
contributed to the overall T* scene in Las Vegas.
The people who run both Glamour Boutique and LVFT realize that there is
a major market, both local and transient, and that Las Vegas is a great
place for T* people. There are LOTS of them locally, and maybe these
places will start pulling them out. We want to continue to reach out
more and more to the local people.
I know there are others doing more or less what we are, but it seems
we're the ones who have the most obvious footprint on the web. I know
there have been a couple attempts to get mainline t* conventions going
in Las Vegas, none of which has really taken off.
Bottom line ... let's ride the wave. Maintain close relationships with
LVFT and Glamour Boutique, just as we have with such places as Vegas
Girl and Bare Essentials. We can be a good source of clients for them,
both local and fly-in, and they can provide us with contacts, again
local and transient.

Coasters:
>>I agree about the coasters being abit much for an organized event
>>simply due to the family theme oriented environment that coasters draw

>>>>I also wonder if anyone other than me might like to do roller
>>>>coasters and sky diving?
[clip]
>When you did the trip to the Roller Coaster, how exactly did you
>do it, logistically-wise? Did you go when there wasn't a big
>crowd of kids? Any problems?
We didn't do a trip for the coaster per se. We did a walking/driving
tour of the south Strip area starting at NYNY. This one was very well
attended.
Some were in boymode, some in casual girlmode, some in gg girlmode.
One wore a dress (Nichole) but she pulled it off very well, did not
look at all out of place.
Some did go on the coaster, but never a large group. As I was lurking
around I noticed Bunny on line. She was dressed in tourist-from-Peoria
mode and was not getting ANY attention at all from the kids in the
area. Photo of her waiting at:
http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/dlv99/outnabout/d990104.jpg
No problems at all.
