Schedule and such:

Lots of good discussion this week. We also got some suggestions on
filling many of the holes in the schedule, which is included. I'm gonna
make that the starting point for the continuing proposed schedule that
goes out on both lists as boilerplate toward the end.

Keep those cards and letters coming, gang. We're about 1/3 of the way
thru the year to DLV 2001 and we've got a great start.

Thanks everybody!

Bar thoughts:

>Regarding "hanging out at bars" late night. This beats IHOP or
>Denny's!!

Well, around here anyway, places like IHOP and Denny's are typical
after-bar meeting places, after the bars close. Of course in Las Vegas,
since bars are 24x7, they probably don't see that much after-bar
business (and probably like it much better :).

If I may digress, back in the early 1980's, when RHPS was showing at a
local theater (now closed), two favorite after-RHPS places were nearby
IHOP and/or Big Boy (both now closed).

If anybody has thought a group of TG people entering such a place would
attract stares and glances, think of what happened when a crowd of about
25 or so assorted trannies, goth types, and various other people in RHPS
costume, (several of whom were under the influence of something) entered
right at the peak of the after-bar influx.

Add to that the tendency of RHPS people to interact with the audience,
and you can imagine some of the fun with the "normals". :)

I don't remember anybody ever being asked to leave, but I thought it was
close one nite when a certaing GG in a Magenta costume stepped up to
another table (occupied by "normals") and said something to the effect
of "Hi, I'm Magenta, can I take your f...ing order!" :)

I agree with you there. I haven't heard any complaints of music too loud
at any of the places we have been frequenting. Anything I missed?

Ok, what I'll start doing is posting the schedule, as complete or
incomplete as it may be, at the end of each mailing.

>Regarding the Folies show, the 7:30 show is covered, so I am suggesting
>the 10 PM show because of its higher glam factor.

Sounds good. Many shows are now doing an earlier "family" edition and a
later "adult" edition.

>We were discussing alternatives to bars in a previous message. Well the

Now that's something new. I see this as a possible alternative for those
who don't want to do Kenny Kerr (or whatever we decide on for Sat.)
We've had suggestions of rock concerts before, but never anything like
this. I don't really see this as an alternative to bars, but an
alternative to the officially suggested show of the evening.

OUCH! I guess they regard non-drinkers and trannies as "overhead", huh?

I've heard of some bars doing that, but they are very few and far
between. Bottom line: I don't think they want our business. I'm curious
if that's the case for everybody, or if selectively applied. I have a
very hard time believing they would charge the regulars. However, I'm
not so curious I'm gonna go back there. :)

This past year I did not have any alcohol to drink, and I noticed
several others were not drinking as well. I saw no pressure on anybody
to drink, and I didn't see anybody being out of place for not doing so.
I did turn in somewhat early a few nites, but that was because I was
still recovering and needed the rest, not because I was not drinking.

>Is this perhaps an issue involving people from AA who want to avoid bars

Perhaps, but another group I was with had several AA members who would
come to our after-meeting at the bar and have soda/coffee/water/whatever.

Lots of non-t social life involves bars too. It's a favorite after-work
activity for many people, especially Friday afternoon, and also a
popular weekend activity.
