Dates:
As everybody should know by now, the dates are set. May 2-7 will be Diva
Las Vegas 2001. Web pages have been updated, and we're now on the IFGE
t* events calendar for next May.
Just a few more one-liner comments about the dates came in. All in favor
of the May 2-7 timeframe.

Schedule:
Here are the various activities and events that appear to be in stone,
or at least those where the stonecarver is hammering. :)
Am I missing anything where the day/time was certain? I know, for
example, people want to golf, but looking back at all the proposed
schedules, it is all over the place.
Those of you who love to plan things, go to it. Lotsa holes here.
Wednesday: 5:00pm Dinner Someplace casual

We want to have this mostly filled in around the first of the year. We
should probably set as a goal to have all the broad strokes painted by
Thanksgiving or so, since most everybody's attention is scarce around
the holidays.

>Why is it that we're always meeting in bars?
To put it briefly, because our people enjoy them. Especially for after-
hours, I'm at a total loss to come up with an equally appropriate venue.
>What alternatives do you
>have for those of us who don't drink?
Alternatives to alcohol are soda, bottled water, juice, coffee, O'Douls,
and all kinds of others. Just about any bar drink can be made "virgin",
every bartender knows what a Virgin Mary/Virgin Collins/Screw A Virgin
(yes, that's the name of the drink) is. I had many of those this last
trip. (the drinks, that is :)
Alternatives to bars are few for such things as the welcome get-together
and after hours. We've discussed the meeting room thing to death, and
most seem to be opposed to it.
Personally, I don't think we have too much bar time, and there certainly
is no pressure to drink, or to overdrink.
None of our daytime activities involve bar time. No bars at Valley Of Fire,
Hoover Dam, or Belz Mall. :) Sure, every casino/restaurant/showroom will
serve alcohol, but that's optional.
>Seems like you would think it's a done-deal for bars, now your're
>just talking about what kind and which bars.
I see the thread (which has died down quite a bit) to be a healthy
discussion not about bars alone, but of venues and activities,
specifically deciding between those which are known to be t-safe and
those which cater to the general public.
From a personal standpoint, this past DLV I was still recovering from a
fairly serious medical incident. I could not have any alcohol, period,
and I never became bored, or felt left out because I was not drinking.
I did learn (before DLV) to avoid substituting alcohol with Coke/Pepsi
because it would give me quite a caffeine buzz after a couple hours.
