Going once:

We're almost halfway thru August. There hasn't been much discussion of
the proposed DLV 2001 dates (May 2-7) except for several one-liners
saying they like the dates.

If anybody has any objection to the DLV proposed dates, please speak
up now while we have time to discuss it.

Activity thoughts:

>> Question: How many are going to want to go wig shopping? Is this
>> something people will intentionally come early for? (And you think
>> YOU analyze things to death. :)

>Wig shopping is probably not exciting enough to get people to come early
>for. It is just something fun to do. The reason to do it early is to

>expensive, although I have bought from Serge's before with great
>results. They have always been friendly and helpful. I look at wigs a
>lot more than I buy them. :-)

My approach to shopping (or rather taking a vanload of t's shopping) is
somewhat different. It's been my experience that not everybody wants to
shop for the same thing, but many will be up for a shopping trip on
such an event like DLV. I'll drive them to one or more malls, outlet
centers, etc., tell everybody to meet at a certain place in two hours,
and then gently encourage them to shop individually or in groups no
larger than 3. Some will shop and get things, others will window shop,
others will just get used to being out in public. This has always
worked out quite well.

Maybe we could have drivers going to different places, and let people
choose what they would want to go shopping for. Some might want to go
shopping for wigs or jewelry, others might wanna go to Belz, and maybe
others might like to try the new large outlet center down at Stateline.

>Wednesday and party with the pros.

>Still, after a year hiatus, the power of the time warp will undoubtedly

>The real question is: are others bored with it? RHPS defenders and
>detractors need to speak up!!

Well, I've seen it in theaters between 50 and 60 times (which is very
low for a true RHPS fan) and I never get bored with it. Each show is
very different, when the live cast and the audience are taken into the
whole, plus the group you go with. The LV cast is innovative enough to
keep it from becoming stale.

I think as long as there is a local LV cast, I'll always get a group to
go down there. The RHPS fans in the group love it, and those who have
never seen it get to do something totally different.

>> Actually the rates are about $40-50 per hour plus tip for a stretch
[bobbitt]

>I like your limo rates better than mine. I'm riding with you. :-)

Just tell the driver I said to give you "my rate." :) :) :)

Seriously, that is now the going rate, but this is gonna have to be
planned in advance and everybody's gonna have to be ready to be picked
up at the scheduled time. Yeah, I know I'm the Time Bitchess, but in
LV, you know the way things slip ...

>> I think Kenny Kerr may be dark on Sunday.

>##%$#@!#$%^&* Tina says something very unlady-like. You are right.
>The Plaza web site says that Kenny Kerr is dark Sunday AND Monday.

Yeah, I kinda remember that from '99. :(

>Still, I think we want to avoid an FI show on Saturday night so that we
>can get out of the closet more.

I really think either a FI show or a legacy show will draw the people on
Saturday nite.

>Plus, I just don't think I can stand to
>see Frank for a 3rd year in a row.

I dunno, I've seen Frank now for 4 years running, and have never been
bored or disappointed, although I do agree ... that ...
  ...
... >I just think that Kenny is so much
>more a complete entertainer. YMMV.

I tend to agree. However, the La Cage show last May was a very strong
performance, IMAO, and those who did go to Kenny Kerr as well said the
show had slipped quite a bit.

>This schedule monkey wrench is going to require further thought.

We might wanna either strive for a happy medium or have two alternatives
for people. Although we always want to encourage people to get out in
the public places, doing so will scare the hell out of many of our
newcomers. Two people mentioned to me they were very nervous (one used
the term "scared sh*tless") going to the Riviera to the show.

One idea would be to have two late-nite gathering places, one in a
familiar and, yes, safe place, and another in something like a strip
casino lounge. Those who are comfortable with it could go to the casino
and those who are not could go to the "safe" place.

Besides, our people consistently say they really enjoy such places as
Keys, Goodtimes, and Las Vegas Lounge.

Comments?????

>We've had mixed results at the Riviera over the years. I have been in
>the big lounge there while dressed many times, and have always received
>good service.

I have to say from a personal standpoint that I've had nothing but good
luck at the Riviera over the years. I stayed there at DLV 1997 and again
a few other times. Every year we've been there at least for the show,
and I know some have played in the casino with no problems.

People have been to the buffet (myself included) with no hassle at all.

Last December I was in Las Vegas for a (non-t*) conference (which
coincided with the Rodeo Finals of all things) and I stayed at the
Riviera and finished up most nights there in the casino. I noticed not
even a hostile stare.

The catcall incident is the first and only cold-prickly I'm aware of
at the place.

>In 2000 on Sunday, a small group of us met there and
>listened to the Elvis impersonation band before going to Splash.
>(Everyone was supposed to meet there to pick up their Splash tickets,
>but there was a communications breakdown.) There was an incident where
>a rude tourist took my picture without asking permission. She had been
>laughing and pointing at me prior to that. She was several tables away,
>so I don't think that the others at my table moticed, but it was still
>bothersome. (Also ironic, since I love posing for pictures. If she had
>only asked, I would have given her something really worth
>photographing.)

Unfortunately in any lounge, there will be people who are not limiting
themselves to one small glass of white wine. :)

>And, of course, we ran into the well-documented catcalls the night
>before going up to see Frank. Julie was leading the way up the
>escalator and I was 2nd in line behind her. The ushers were well-placed
>and gave us directions each step along the way. On the 2nd level, there
>were people lined up to see the Crazy Girls show. That is the group
>that made the comments and whistles. Bothersome and embarassing, but
>I've heard much worse.

And ... unfortunately the ones who will be in the line for Crazy Girls
will not be the ones likely to limit to one small glass of wine, either.

My feeling is that a group of 25 solo gg's, all dressed to the nines,
would elicit a similar response from the Crazy Girls queue. GG's take
that crap all the time, especially from a line of horny males, many of
whom are under the influence, lined up to see a T&A show.

>What I'm trying to say is that we run the risk of rude comments anytime,
>but we shouldn't let that stop us.

Yes, one fact of life is that there will always be more equine derierres
than there are equines. And yes, whenever we get a medium to large group
of t's in outfits that tend to attract attention, the probability that
some south-end-of-a-horse-heading-north will do something approaches 1.

Many of our people can blow this off and forget about it, but those who
are new or uneasy in public can't. It will be interesting to see if the
two who I knew to be uneasy at La Cage will be back next year.

>We need those major "out" activities
>for the experienced girls, and the LV Lounge, Keys, and Goodtimes "in"
>activities for the less-experienced.

Again, we might wanna think of alternative activities for those who
are not yet comfortable in mainline places. Two "tracks" so to speak.

>Perhaps Monday night (the bi-bi night) is another good candidate night

>> None of the responses objected to the dates.

>Hey I have an idea! How about the week of May 9th through the
>14th! (ducking)

Seriously, if you or anybody has any problem with the schedule, now is
the time to bring it up. If the May 2-7 definitely locks you out, let it
be known. I don't want that to happen!

Personally, either the 2-7 or 9-14 dates will work for me, but comments
so far favor the 2-7 dates by far.

>Sorry I'll have to pass on this one ;-) I do however have a wig which

Wig shopping is something that will not appeal to everybody, especially
those who use their own hair. Personally, I prefer shopping for such
things when I'm able to be 1-on-1 with the salesperson, and not with a
large group.

>> >Monday: Aft Golf, side trip, etc.

>hehe beat the heat and do golf in the am...

Yes, as everybody knows, it can get very hot in May in Las Vegas. This
past year it was unseasonably cool, however. Highs around 100 are not
unusual at all that time.

>> >You'll also notice that I didn't put a lot of detail in regarding

>I am the same way, I like one group dinner as a semi formal thing but

If somebody wants to take the initiative of planning a semiformal
dinner, it can happen. I'll leave it to those who consider such a thing
to be a priority to plan it.

>Well that's all the time I have...time for work....I'll try to stay up

Been invited. Schedule conflicts both times.

>...I'm off to see the wizard ...Hugs

Oh Toto, I don't think we're in Kansas anymore ...
