Only 39 days left, gang!

Show and schedule notes:
On the subject of the FI show, it appears to me that the majority of
the people on the list have either no opinion, or an opinion not
strong enough to say something about it.
Out of over 100 on the list, we got maybe 6-7 or so responses, only one
of which could be considered to be vocally opposed to changing. Most of
those who wrote did prefer one over the other, but added that they would
be willing to go with the group to see whichever show was agreed upon.
We do need to start firming up things, as we're getting closer and
closer. :)
In light of this, I would like to suggest that unless we hear no further
strong objections, we take Cactus Rose Club up on their offer to
coordinate a Saturday group going to Frank Marino/La Cage, and make
that our "official" DLV FI show for DLV 2000.
As I said before, my primary objective is to keep the group together as
much as possible, and it's my opinion this is the way to go to do just
that.
As far as the legacy Las Vegas show, we've had a number of responses,
with Splash appearing to be the favorite, but with frequent mention
that either show would be ok.
Therefore, let's let Tina (who is coordinating the legacy show trip)
make the decision between the two and we consider her choice the
"official" DLV legacy show.

Schedule has been tentative so far, yes.

Yes, we will have "official" recommended activities.
We could do a call for votes, but it does appear to me that the momentum
for the FI show is with Frank Marino, and by declaring that the official
DLV activity, we have a better chance of a unified group that night.
>That does not stop any group or
>groups doing their own "thing".
You are correct. If some people *have* to see Kenny Kerr, and do not
want to see Frank Marino, there's nothing that says they can't do just
that. I do agree, however, that we should have one "official" activity
that we recommend to all our people.
It's also possible for people who want to see Kenny Kerr to go with us
on Saturday to Frank Marino, and go on some other evening to Kenny Kerr.
>Since I'm going to be in Las Vegas for nearly a week before DLV anyway
>(at N+I) I would like to know with some certainty what events will be at
>DLV and I can go to any others prior to that.
Yes, now is the time to firm up the schedule and tie up a few loose ends
so we have a definite plan before the big event happens.

That is very true. Shows do cost $30-50 or so now, but the ones we have
on the slate are by far not the more expensive ones in Las Vegas.
(Siegfried and Roy and "O" are now in the $100 range per person.)
They should be in the range of affordability for most everyone.
There will be a number of other low-cost activities, but you are correct
that the welcome get-together (and the pre-DLV thing) will be a very
worthwhile activity that is very reasonable in price.

IMAO, shopping is one of those things you learn by doing, and there
is no substitute for simply doing it.
What might be a workable option in your case is to talk to those who
are experienced in-real-life shoppers and ask very specific questions.
Then, you might ask to accompany somebody who has experience, and
observe, either in boymode or girlmode.

Hmmm, do you know where these are located? Anything close to the
Strip or some of our regular hangouts?
Several years ago (like 1994 or so) they had the Cyber-City cafe
by the Target store on Maryland. I was there once, and it was a few
bucks per hour. They closed in 1998 or so, iirc.
They had a very good reputation as far as GLBT-friendliness.
They also tell me (the ubiquitous "they") that Tropicana has internet
kiosks in their lobby, and the Sahara will have them Real Soon Now.

This seems to be the way quite a few feel about this too.

{..biting tongue avoiding the tired "nudity is illegal" line} ...
I have yet to see anybody who is appropriately dressed (in either mode)
turned away from a showroom. Both Tropicana (Follies) and Riviera
(Splash) are reputed to be two of the more GLBT-friendly properties in
Las Vegas. Just about anything from casual to dressy (either boymode or
girlmode) will be appropriate in the Tropicana or Riviera showrooms.

Thanks for the clarification on what you had in mind. Yes, I agree RHPS
is not for everybody, and this gives an alternative. I would also like
to remind everybody that there are other clubs in the immediate area of
Gypsy, such as Angles/Lace next door, and Freezone just down the block.
