Special mailing:

This is going out early due to the volume of mail.

One more feedback item we do need is your preference for the legacy LV
show on Sunday, either Follies (Tropicana) or Splash (Riviera). Please
see the notes below and respond with your preference.

We've had a number of comments regarding the FI show situation, all
which are in this mailing. Comments are varied. You can read them below
and respond/comment if you like.

From my own personal standpoint, I want to do what will keep the group
together, but I'm right now at a loss to see what that is.

With our current model for the event, it's not necessarily a Bad Thing
to have part of the group going to one show, and part going to another,
but I think it would be nice to have most everybody in one unified
group, especially for some of the major evening activities.

Anyway, read the comments, give feedback on your opinions, please.

Does anybody local to Las Vegas have any other recommendations?

Friday, maybe?:

>Say, how about doing one of the shows on Friday.

That is an option, but imao, the timing would be much too tight.

>If it doesn't
>start till 9:30, we can still meet for our welcome thing
>at 7:00 and have plenty of time.

Actually, for real-world Las Vegas, that is not nearly enough time.

I think one of our most important activities, even though it's probably
not the highlight of the weekend for everybody, is the welcome get-
together on Friday evening. One of the primary purposes of DLV is to
meet others, and get to know them. We need to have time to do this,
early in the event. We also need to have this as informal and as
easygoing as we can.

Although the welcome get-together will start at 7:00pm, and some people
will be there like clockwork, some even early, many will be "fashionably
late" either by choice or by chance. We'll have people popping in from
about 7:00 until after 9:00 or so, and that's not necessarily bad, it's
just the way things work in real life.

In order to make a 9:30 show at the Riviera, with decent seats, we would
have to have everybody there by 9:00 at the very latest. That means we
would have to allow at least half an hour to get there, if not more,
Friday evening traffic can be murder, so that means the welcome
get-together would have to break up or fracture shortly after 8:00pm. I
don't wanna see this happen.

I agree, the seats were not the best.

If La Cage is indeed the choice, I think the best idea is to be sure
everybody is there early so we can get something that's not so
landlocked. That's a smaller showroom over there at the Riviera (it is
not their main showroom, it is a smaller one upstairs, Splash is playing
in their main showroom) and the "VIP" section does fill fast.

Group dinner on Friday:

Vicki writes:

>If you want to have a Friday dinner at FreeZone I would be willing to

That sounds great. Thanks. I'll get this on the schedule. It should
probably be 5:00 or 5:30 at the latest so we don't get in a bind with
our big welcome thing that night.

>I looked at the preliminary schedule again. I think Gipsy (sic) is

Since I'm not the one coordinating the Gypsy thing, I really can't do
anything about it, but keep in mind that Freezone is right down the
street from Gypsy and Angles/Lace, so if people want one of the others
instead of Gypsy, it's a very brief walk to either of the others.

Hmmm, which event was this? I know there was one a couple months back,
but I was not aware of one recently, and I try like heck to find out
about these things.

>I know you realize that with
>so many girls in one place not everyone wants to do the same thing at

Oh yes, I'm well aware of this, as we are finding out more and more. :)

>Based on this fact I have a suggestion. It is to set up
>some type of system that would let those attending sort of "sign up" for

Well, for things like Gypsy and Rocky Horror, it's more like "show up"
instead of "sign up" as there's no advance headcount needed, and nobody
even needs to make up their mind in advance, except in cases where a
ride is needed or something like that.

We will need advance headcounts for such things as the shows, and the
group dinner and such, though. We will call for these toward the end
of April.

I've been to Freezone and liked it. Haven't eaten there yet, though.

I know that Gypsy can get quite zooey on the weekends, but I think the
person planning the trip there had this in mind. :)

I have seen the other places in the Triangle district, Angles/Lace and
Freezone, get quite crowded some nights also.

>We also went to the Las Vegas Lounge on Karen, near Keys. This is TS

I was at Las Vegas Lounge around the holidays, and it looked like it has
potential, but it was just opened then. I'm sure we'll have people go
there in May. They indicated that they did want our business, and should
have the food service part open by then.

Legacy show will happen on Sunday, but we now need to get a concensus as
to which show to see. See note below.

>I do agree with the sentiments expressed earlier in the year that seeing
>2 FI shows is overkill. We heard a lot of the same jokes both nights.

I do agree the shows are very similar. From a personal standpoint, it's
hard to choose one over the other from last year's performances. IMAO,
both were good, and worth seeing again. However, concensus of the group
said that Kenny Kerr was the preferred of the two shows for DLV 99.

>I would hate to see the group split up on Saturday night for the shows,
>since we are already splitting up for Rocky Horror versus the Gypsy (and
>that was my idea!!).

Yes, I would prefer to do what it takes to keep the group together for
the Saturday evening show, whichever it may be.

>Still, it may be the only way to accomodate the

>How large a group of people from Phoenix are we talking about?

Dunno for sure, but I know it will be a significant number of the people
at DLV this year.

Most of the feedback has been good, and hopefully things will converge
a bit more as we get closer to May.

Ok, let's do that now.

**NEED FEEDBACK**:

Tina has volunteered to coordinate this, so please, let's help her
decide which show we're gonna go see. She's suggested two, Follies and
Splash.

Both are long-running Las Vegas style variety production shows.

Follies Bergere, Tropicana, Longest running production show in Las Vegas
history. $40-50-ish.

Splash, Riviera, Long-running variety show with impressive effects.
$40-50-ish.

Please let us know which one of these you prefer. Just hit REPLY to this
message and say so.

I really don't like this one. Sounds to me like it would result in a
three-way split. :(

Yes, and it's on the schedule. Thanks.
