Feedback needed:
In this mailing, there are some issues on which we need feedback from
those who are attending or who would like to attend.
Please pay attention to the **NEED FEEDBACK**: items in the following
message.

Vegas Girl Wigs:
>Say, did you know Vegas Girl now has a web page
Uh, nope, but I do now. :)
Just took a look at the site. It's a bit hard to navigate, imao, but it
does show a lot of what they carry, and does have a page specifically for
CD/TG types. Thanks.

Time to try it:
>My wife and I are very interested in the Las Vegas vacation. I have
>never been out in the public but my wife says it's time. I would love to
>try it.
DLV is one of the better opportunities for a first time. You can ease
into it if you like, perhaps, such as boymode for some of the more
visible daytime things, and en femme for some of the evening activities.
>My problem is I'm a little on the tall side. 6'4". (at least I'm
>thin:) Anyway, what do you think? would I be able to have fun with
>others and not be harassed?
You'll definitely be able to have fun with others. :)
I know we've had people in that height range before, and throughout the
history of DLV we've had no incidents of harassment. The key to avoiding
trouble is to not go looking for it. Dress for each activity in a way
that's appropriate for time, place, and circumstance, and be a lady.
If you should find yourself feeling uneasy, there are people who can
talk with you and help you get at ease, and if you need an escort from
your hotel room on that first time out, others will be more than
willing to do that.

More dress shop:
>>>>>I found a store that sells large sizes and has no problem with cd`s or
>>>>>t.s.`s they are very friendly and helpful .. Im sorry i can`t remember
[snip]
>>>Now this is what I've been thinking of for most all year. Is there a
>>>way we could make a group appointment, after hours, and get some place
>>>like this to ourselves.
>>
>>I'm sure that there will be at least one group shopping trip again this
>>year, and personally, I think simply including this place (if we can
[chomp]
>If I may butt in here. One thing I want, or rather need to do is to
>learn how to shop en femme. I'm so totally petrified of going in
>a shop here local, the I know I'll never do it, either en femme or
>en drab.
>
>That leaves Diva as my opportunity to do this.
And it's a good opportunity, lots of places ready with everything you
need, all of them ready to take your $$$. :)
>On one hand, I feel an appointment where everybody there
>is CD might be less traumatic, I don't think that's what I
>want to do. They say I pass ok, and I'd like to try it just
>as a member of the public, but I admit I'm scared to death
>worried about making an ass out of myself or something. I
>get shivers up the spine thinking of some poor salesclerk coming
>to me and asking May I Help You.
That's perfectly understandable, and you'll find the nervousness goes
away very quickly.
What I might suggest is that you start out by shopping in one of the
more "impersonal" places, such as Wal-Mart/Target/etc. or the shops at
the outlet mall, where the staff will not be as up close and personal as
in the private shops and the full-service department stores.
Also keep in mind that those sales people, as intimidating as they may
seem, DO want to help you. They want you to find something you like, so
you will buy it, and they want you to be satisfied with the goods and
service so you will return and spend more $$$$.
You might consider easing into the shopping thing, starting off with
window shopping, like in a mall, progress to actually browsing in the
stores, perhaps then buying things at a place that has central check-
out, and then when you're comfortable, such things as the private
dress shops and the full-service department stores.

Frank Marino show:
>one of the activities that I and several of our members want
>to see while in town is Frank Marino's show at the Riviera.
We've seen that a number of times, yes, it is good. It's also very
"ok" to attend en femme. (Remind me to tell you the story overheard
in the Riviera buffet. :)
>I know
>there are some open times in the evening on the tentative schedule.
Yes, still quite a few open slots ...
>The Cactus Rose Club and I would be happy to coordinate, or "host" this
>outing,
Thank you, and we accept your offer. :)
>preferably on friday or saturday night.[ Most of our group,
>unfortunately, is having to leave to go back to the Phoenix area on
>Sunday, due to work committments.]
It will most likely have to be Saturday then, since Friday is the
traditional welcome get-together, beginning at 7:00pm, and that will
still be too tight for the 9:30 show. (Trust me, time flies in Las
Vegas, and time gets very tight, even with the best of plans.)
We've tentatively scheduled a session of Kenny Kerr (the other big FI
show in town) for Saturday, but since there seems to be a demand for
this from your group, we can reschedule the Kenny Kerr show unless there
are strong objections.
***NEED FEEDBACK***: Any objections to doing this (scheduling Frank
Marino for Saturday evening and moving Kenny Kerr to another night),
please speak up now!
>I checked with the Riviera, and show
>times are 7:30 and 9:30, with prices of $28 for gen. admission, and $36
>for VIP. Group general admission rates are available for groups of 20
>or more, if the consensus falls that way.
They tell me (the ubiquitous "they") that there is a third late show of
La Cage on Saturdays, like 11:30, but that may be too late for some of
our people, and will definitely not work for those who plan to go to
Rocky Horror that night.
>I would just as soon opt for
>the VIP seats, and perhaps, if we get enough in the group, a well
>written email to Ms. Marino might allow us the opportunity to meet and
>say hello.
It's well worth it to get the VIP seats, I speak from experience.
The showroom they use is small, and the VIP area fills up FAST, so it's
also advantageous to be there very early. In 1997, we were just about
first in the VIP line and were front, center, close. In 1998 we were
running late and got stuck in the back of the VIP area, which were not
the best seats. Last year, we were center to the right, but there was a
full house and seating was a bit cramped.
>Again, I would be happy to coordinate this activity.
And again, we appreciate it. :)
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Guest consultants, seminars, etc.:
>Also, due to some
>contacts from some of our members, we may also be able to get a "guest
>or two" in the field of clothing, makeovers etc. to do a seminar during
>the day. I will know more about this within the week, and will contact
>you as soon as I can get a confirmation.
I'll let you people coordinate this type of thing, if you wish, just be
sure to let us know as soon as things are scheduled, so we get them on
the slate.
We've had a couple queries from potential vendors and the like, but
nobody's expressed strong interest in coming. I've been very upfront
about the size of the group and the fact that we are encouraging
everybody to shop on the town, so there will not be a captive market
like there will be at the mainline t* conventions.
I think personal makeover/consult sessions will most likely be in
demand, if they are of quality and within reason as to $$$$.
***NEED FEEDBACK***: Would these be of interest to you?
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
SO's get-together:
>And lastly, there has been some conversation and notes in the mailings
>about a possible spouse/so conference. Do you think there will be some
>actual interest?
That's a good questions. This was proposed a while ago (perhaps as
something like a luncheon) but there's been no talk to speak of since
this.
For it to happen, there will have to be interest, and there will have to
be somebody to coordinate it.
>I know that we have 3 or 4 coming with members of our
>group.
I don't have any hard numbers, but each year we've had some so's at DLV.
I know that we will have one who could be considered to be a male so
this year, and a number of the people who have written in have said
their so is interested in attending too.
>If you think there would be some actual interest, enough to get a
>specialist or two in this field to speak for a few hours, let me know,
>and perhaps CRC could help here as well.
I really can't say anything about interest except that there has been no
conversation here since the original query.
**NEED FEEDBACK**: If there is a demand for this, please speak up now, even
if it's just a "I want to see this happen" note.
Specialists cost $$$, and for that to happen, there would have to be a
method to be sure they got paid.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Las Vegas Hilton deal:
>Our "base of operation" for the conference will be at the Las Vegas
>Hilton, as most of our members are planning to stay there. We have been
>able to garner a FABULOUS rate, that if you wish to pass on, would be
>fine. Attendees should call the LVH DIRECTLY on their toll free number
>at 1-800-732-7117, and ask for the Spring Package special.. $49 per
>night, plus 2 for 1 dinners, gaming specials, etc. Pretty good , eh?
>They are limited, however.
That's really a good deal, especially if it covers the weekend as well
as the weekdays. I also suspect this might not be available the week
before, since LV Hilton is one of the host hotels for Networld+Interop.
