Airfare updates:
This week the media have been abuzz with reports of air fare hikes.
There's good news and bad news on these reports. The bad news is that
yes, air prices continue to creep upward. The good (?) news is that the
majority of the fare hikes are for the so-called full-fare coach and
first-class seats and do not as much affect the in-advance leisure
travelers' fares.
Southwest just ended a $99 each way promotion, but Sun Country has one
on now, and yes, it covers the DLV period.
Spot-checking a few markets, yes, it appears that fares are still
available in the $200-300 range in most cases. In a few cases, checking
nearby airports results in a significant saving. For example,
Springfield and Quincy, IL fares to LV are significantly less that St.
Louis. The larger airports are not always the cheapest, and it may pay
to drive a few miles for a very large savings.

Safety:
>Is it really safe to be doing this?
Well, there are risks with everything. Somebody could get hit by a car
when crossing the street, for example. Likewise, somebody could trip and
fall in a casino lobby, get stuck in an elevator, or get food poisoning
when eating at a certain north-strip buffet {meow}.
>Have you guys ever actually done this before?
Yes, in 1997, 1998, and 1999.
>Aren't you afraid your going to start some trouble?
No, if everybody behaves as a lady or gentleman, this should not happen.
If I may read into your questions just a bit, I would like to say that
since 1997 there were no incidents (none, nada, nil, nix, uh-uh) at all
of harassment, ridicule, refused service, etc., period.
If somebody chooses to go looking for trouble, he or she will find it,
in Las Vegas or elsewhere. This event does not attract those of this
type.

>Now this is what I've been thinking of for most all year. Is there a
>way we could make a group appointment, after hours, and get some place
>like this to ourselves.
First of all, we have yet to positively identify this shop.
If somebody wants to take the initiative to arrange something after
hours, or during normal hours, be my guest.
I'm sure that there will be at least one group shopping trip again this
year, and personally, I think simply including this place (if we can
identify it) on such a trip would be all that's necessary, unless we
have people who are quite shy about shopping. (This is normal, but goes
away very rapidly.)
>From what you all have been saying, there are more shops out there
>too,
Two that we've discussed here are Rose Of Sharon, at Sahara and
Paradise, and DuBarry, over on Decatur, IIRC. One or both could be
included on a shopping trip, if the demand is there.
>maybe you can arrange something with them as well.
Usually, places like this need no prior arrangement for shopping.
If you or anybody wants to look into a group appointment and/or after-
hours shopping at any of these places or anywhere, please feel free to
do so.

Actually, those prices are very good (< $50 per nite) especially if they
cover the weekend as well as the weekdays.
This is one of our suggested hotels. Known to be t-friendly for as
long as DLV has been around. They have garden (motel) rooms, for those
who don't feel comfortable doing elevators and hotel lobbies, as well as
the hotel tower rooms.
Anybody interested, please contact Roselinn directly via e-mail above.
