Welcome to those who recently joined this list. If you have any
questions or concerns, please ask.
There was no general mailing last week. Mailings will moat likely come
out every 1-2 weeks until late March.
Registration for newcomers who are on this list is now open. See item
below.
As of this time we have 63 attendees registered. All signs are
continuing to point to a very good turnout this April.

A few specific questions:
1. How do you sign up (for DLV)?
If you will be a newcomer this year, see the instructions below. Before
you register, please be sure to read the web site carefully to be sure
you know exactly what you're signing up for. There are still quite a few
misunderstandings about what DLV is and is not.

2. Do we have a pageant?
No we don't.
Why? Mainly because nobody's ever planned one. :)
Diva Las Vegas is quite a bit different than the majority of the other
T-community events. Feedback from those who have attended the mainline
t* conventions indicates that things like pageants, contests, talent
shows, etc., appeal to only a certain percentage of the attendees.
We have a lot of different activities, as we try to plan those to appeal
to a wide audience. That's really about it.

3. How do you sign up for golf?
We may want to add this to the FAQ, since this is becoming one of the
most frequently asked questions. Golf seems to be of particular interest
this year.
You officially sign up for golf at activity sign-up time, which will
begin toward the end of March.
I would, however, suggest that if you're interested in golf with the DLV
gang, you join the golf mailing list, which is where the planning and
discussion of golf takes place. Please see item below on this.

DLV 2006 new attendee registration for those who receive this mailing
list is now open at tha URL:

Since newcomer registration is only open for list members, there is no
link from the main DLV site or from the main registration page, so
please don't delete this message. The link above will take you directly
to the newcomer registration page.
These next items are very important, please read carefully.
1. When you register as a newcomer, a validation e-mail will be sent to
you at the e-mail address you give us when you register. IF YOU DON'T
RECEIVE THIS SHORTLY AFTER YOU REGISTER, SOMETHING IS WRONG and we need
to take a look and see what happened.
2. You need to read the validation e-mail carefully and respond as
indicated. It's very obvious if you respond without reading it. :)
Please read it, it's good for you! :)
This year, the validation reminders will be fewer and farther between
than in years past, but if an appropriate response to your validation
e-mail is not received in a reasonable time, we have no other option
but to cancel your registration. You cooperation with the validation
process is appreciated. Thanks.

Big Sisters:
One of our strong points at DLV is our Big Sister program.
Big Sisters are volunteer DLV veterans who provide advice, support, and
companionship to those who are new and may feel uneasy about things to
come.
Big Sisters are available both prior to DLV (via e-mail) and during
DLV in person.
If you're new to DLV and would like to be matched up with a Big Sister,
you can request one either on the web after you register, or by e-mail.
Just follow the link to the registration update page and click on the
Big Sister tab, or just send e-mail to: bigsister@geekbabe.com
Although we've had a good response to our call for Big Sister
volunteers, we can always use more, as our Big Sister Coordinators
are trying to do a "best fit" instead of a "first fit" match.
If you're a returnee this year and would be interested in helping out
somebody who's new, please send a brief note to: bigsister@geekbabe.com
Big thanks to Nora and Crystal, who are devoting their primary DLV
effort toward coordinating the Big Sister program this year.

Our suggested hotels are just that, suggestions, for those who want to
stay at a place where others from our group will be, and those known to
have provided good service to our people in the past. You are free to
stay anywhere you want when you attend DLV.
Once again we will be coordinating a roommate matching program for those
who wish to save money by sharing a hotel room.

If you're interested in sharing a room, please visit the url that was

matching.
Alternatively you can get yourself on the roommate matching list by

Diane will be collecting the responses and getting people in contact
with each other.
If you have any questions or concerns about the roommate matching

Two items to please keep in mind regarding roommate matching.
1. Our Roommate Matching Program is for one purpose and one purpose
only, that being to act as a clearing house for those who want to share
hotel accommodations for the purpose of saving money and congenial
companionship. Any wording in a roommate request entry that hints
anything other than this will cause the request to be rejected.
2. Although roommate matching is done in good faith, please understand
that it's at your own risk and that DLV organizers and volunteers are
not responsible if things do not work out as desired.

SO Get-together:
Sarona has graciously agreed to host(ess) an informal SO's get-together
on Wednesday afternoon of DLV week.
This is open to all SO's, including male and nontraditional SO's as
well.
This will be very informal, light refreshments, snacks, good
conversation and companionship.
Thanks to Sarona for coordinating this activity.
You may sign up for this either at activity sign-up time or with
Sarona in person at DLV.

Golf update:
All who have signed up for the golf mailing list should have received a
welcome message about a week ago. If you didn't receive this, please

If you're interested in playing golf with the DLV group and are
