Only 80 days left, gang!

Reminder:
If you haven't made your air reservations yet, please do so as soon as
you can, as the availability of the rock-bottom priced seats is
questionable from now on. Southwest and America West are still showing
$200-ish round trip prices from many places east of the Rockies.
However, prices are creeping upward. Most airlines are now showing
$308 roundtrip from ORD (O'Hare) and $389 from JFK (lowest of all in
the NYC area) for that weekend.
For hotels, good rates seem to be available, with lowest prices at
Palace Station, Stardust, and Sahara. (see www.lvrs.com)
For those who wanna splurge, the new so-called exclusive Mandalay Bay,
which will be opening in April, is now taking reservations for May.
Rooms go for $169 per night and up. (yeah, right!)
I would highly suggest that those who want to stay at the Stardust book
their rooms NOW. Stardust is sold out almost every weekend, even in the
off-season.

> Do we have to go to both Drag shows? Both Kenny Kerr and Frank MArina?
No. Each individual can participate in as many of the group activies
as he/she wishes. Of the above, you can go to none, one of them, or
both of them.
I think it's safe to say that there will be some people from the group
at both shows. They are quite similar (up to the point of both using
the worn-out Ballroom joke), and I've seen both twice, but do not
really have a favorite. Looking back at last year, I have to say that
the Kenny Kerr Show (now renamed back to Boylesque) was the stronger
of the two performances that week. Just had more energy in it, imao.

>>This issue has now come up for the last 3 years. I'm going to get an
>>authoritative answer this week from a (real) attorney.
>>> They said on the note about this event at cdformu.com {sic} that
>>> it's illegal to use the Ladies Room in Las Vegas.
>>> Do you ever have any trouble with this?
>>They tell me (the ubiquitous "they") that there is such a law on the
>>books. However, nobody has ever been able to give me a citation or
>>reference to the actual statute or regulation. The closest I ever
>>got was "well, so-and-so told me."
> Why do you keep making such a big deal of this?
I hate to admit it, but I guess I am making a big deal of it. Why?
1. People keep bringing it up. 2. Nobody seems to be able to find or
quote the actual law/regulation/whatever. 3. I'm very curious. :)
> If everybody would just mind their own business and enjoy the
> trip, and not worry about things like that, all would be better.
I agree! However, when Mother Nature calls, we want to know exactly
what our options are (public restroom, hotel room, gas station,
7-11 {ducking}) and what our risks, if any, are.
I'm hoping to have an answer that will end this digression this week.

>>> Is the Liberace museum actually worth it?
>>Actually yes, imao. It's not something that you will want to do over
>>and over and over, but it's worth seeing once, or occasionally.
> Can you tell me. How much is this, and how long does it take?
It's a few bucks per person. Goes to a nonprofit foundation, iirc.
I would say to allow for about an hour. It's now expanded to two
small buildings, but is not usually corwded.
> Will there be any problem going "en femme" to this?
No problem! (Think about whose museum it is. :) I would say this is
one of the better bets if you're a bit new to going out in public.

Travel Agent:
This year we have a travel agent who is available to help you with your
air and other arrangements. She has worked with the T* community and
her agency is very T-friendly. Please feel free to phone or e-mail
her with your travel requests and questions. I've filled her in on
what the event is and what you will be looking for, such as low-cost
round-trip airfare and possibly air-hotel deals.

Door Prizes:
As we did last year, we're soliciting donations of small items to be
given to the lucky (??) winners of a drawing. These can be useful in
nature, or humorous. Last year we had such things as an Epilady, a
home electrolysis unit, and some jewelry items.
We've had a couple responses on this already, so this may be a bit
more of a big deal this year.
If you wish to donate a prize, please write to dlv99@geekbabe.com
and describe your donation, and state if you want your donation to
be in your name or anonymous.
