Room prices:

Well, those (the $100+ rooms) are the ones they want to sell you. :)
Nice rooms are (still) available at decent prices. Phone hotels directly
or use a service such as www.lvrs.com.
Sahara (north Strip) is advertising $39 per night. Mention that you got the
price from the ad in the LA Times for this rate.
Quality Inn Key Largo (off Strip by Flamingo) is advertising $29/$49 for
weekday/weekend.
Frontier (north Strip) is showing $35/$79.
Those three are the most convenient nice places that are showing good
prices.
Other lower-priced decent places include Texas Station (Rancho Drive)
$32/$79, Boulder Station (Boulder Strip) $35/$59, Lady Luck (downtown)
$39/$59, Sams Town (Boulder Strip) $39/$65, and Silverton (waaaaay
south on the Strip) $39/$79.

I think the key terms here are "you" and "that all agree on". :)
"You", meaning me, does not especially wanna play convention
promoter. :) :) :)
This is a vacation, not a convention. It's my vacation too, and the
last thing I wanna do on my vacation is run a convention. :)
However, if "you", meaning you or anybody else listening, wants to
do something like that for next year, be my guest, or rather, I'll
be your guest! :)
"That all agree on" is the hard part. We can't even agree on what to
call ourselves! :) You'll find that many of the people coming have
their favorite places to stay and play in Las Vegas. They will often
get Casino Rate (reduced) or Comp (no charge) rooms at the places
they play. These will be much lower than the "special group rates".

Air fare updates:
Some air fares appear to have taken a dip over the past week or so.
Several airlines are showing some good rates.
$88 round trip is available from multiple airlines from various
airports in southern California, including LAX and San Diego.
Other California departures seem to be hovering just over $100.
Other typical round trip prices include $258 from Kansas City, $234
from Denver, $308 from Chicago (ORD), Minneapolis, and St. Louis,
$339 from Buffalo, and $349 from Atlanta, Jacksonville, and Miami.
If you haven't booked yet, act quickly!

Unless things radically change, we will be going to the earlier of the
two showings of Kenny Kerr (Boylesque) on Saturday, since there is
another activity at Midnight that some will have to get into costume
for (RHPS).
It's been suggested that we go to the later show of Frank Marino
(La Cage) on Sunday.
As to the other two proposed shows, it's too early to tell.

Door Prizes:
As we did last year, we're soliciting donations of small items to be
given to the lucky (??) winners of a drawing. These can be useful in
nature, or humorous. Last year we had such things as an Epilady, a
home electrolysis unit, and some jewelry items.
We've had a couple responses on this already, so this may be a bit
more of a big deal this year.
