Only 52 days left, gang!

Oops:

Minor screwup, gang. For the life of me I can't find the file that
has the names of the DLV98 returnees and t-shirt sizes. If you
were at DLV last year and will be returning this year, you can get
one of these.

Please send me a brief note (just hit reply to this message) and give
me your preferred size. It's best if you give both the usual t-shirt
size (m, l, xl, etc.) and your usual dress size (14, 16, etc.) since
some of the blank ones I get are sized both ways.

You can see the design (fabric is light blue) at the url:

http://www.geekbabe.com/annie/dlvshirt.gif

I made a prototype of these last week and wore it to a party last
night and got a number of compliments. These are gonna look quite nice.
Two slight changes from the graphic, the lettering and background image
are done in "process magenta" (a very standard color) ink, which is a
bit more red and less violet than on the graphic, plus, the lettering
looks better if I leave out the black outline around the lettering.

ObTrivia: Whose face was used for the line drawing?

>> ... many hotels will not book a Saturday arrival.

>I'll be driving up, and cause of my work, I might not be able to
>leave until late Friday or very early Saturday, meaning I won't
>be there for Friday night. Where do you suggest I try if I'm
>checking in on Saturday.

I know that Bally's (a couple at DLV97 stayed there and arrived
Saturday) and Harrah's (a group of us ate there last year with no
problems or strange looks) will both book a Saturday arrival. I've
also been told that the Circus properties (Circus-Circus, Luxor,
Excalibur) will as well, but these may not be as t-friendly as you
would like. (They all are, however, very $$$$-friendly.)

I would suggest that you phone the hotels or a travel agent and ask
the question directly.

Also, this may be a bit early, but I'll mention it, if you are going to
miss the Friday evening get-together, and want to attend the Saturday
activities where a reservation or headcount is needed, please e-mail or
phone, and please be sure to follow up if your plans should change.

>I just returned from Vegas this week. While out west I went to the
>Queen Mary in LA and on night at Gypsy/Angles.

I've been to the QM when in LA. Interesting place, great for people
watching. :)

Never been to Gypsy and the like, but it's on our schedule.

>Your website is very informative. But, I do have a question or two.
>Are you going to recommend a hotel/motel that would be pleased to have
>our business, so some of us could get together to go to functions,
>shopping, etc?

There are several that we've had good luck at. This year we have people
staying at Riviera, Stardust, Imperial Palace, Sahara, Westward Ho, and
a couple others. Tropicana is also reputed to be t-friendly.

Only property reputed to be non-t-friendly is Circus-Circus, but I've
heard two versions of the story, and received another report of a t*
who was treated well there.

>I usually stay at the Horseshoe, but I doubt many girls would be
>staying there.

There's a report in one of the back issues of somebody staying downtown
at the GN, I think.

>I would make arrangements at another place if you know others would be
>there also.

We don't have anybody staying downtown (yet). So far everybody is
staying all over the strip. Greatest concentration seems to be at
Imperial Palace as of this time.

>I am a member of the Pink Kitties. At out get-togethers (next month in
>New Orleans, for example) we have a meeting room at a hotel where we
>get together and get organized to go out. Is this part of the Vegas
>plan?

Our thing is very informal. We'll have a welcome get-together at a
lounge on Friday, plus it seems like the group gravitates to another
place just about every evening. You will find that not everybody does
everything, and there will often be multiple goings-on at any one
time.

With all there is to do in the area, there will be no problem keeping
occupied. Biggest complaint last year was that there was not enough
time to do everything everybody wanted.

>Finally, you mentioned a TG friendly club on Tropicana. I am curious
>as to which place that is.

This is the Good Times Lounge, in the strip mall by the Liberace Museum
at the corner of Trop and Spencer. It was recommended by one of the
local ladies, and is a nice place to meet and have a few drinks, plus
it's close to the airport and relatively easy for everybody to find.
Unless something radically changes, we'll have our welcome thing there.

America West:

For those who have not heard, the threat of a strike against America
West Airlines (which has the lion's share of the east of the Rockies
to Vegas market) is settled and over. If you have tickets for DLV on
AmWest, there will be no problem.

For those who have not booked air yet, prices ain't gonna get any
lower, and there will be very sharp increases at the 21 day and 14
day points.

Door Prizes:

As we did last year, we're soliciting donations of small items to be
given to the lucky (??) winners of a drawing. These can be useful in
nature, or humorous. Last year we had such things as an Epilady, a
home electrolysis unit, and some jewelry items.

We've had a couple responses on this already, so this may be a bit
more of a big deal this year.

If you wish to donate a prize, please write to dlv99@geekbabe.com
and describe your donation, and state if you want your donation to
be in your name or anonymous.
