The '''Scientific-Humanitarian Committee''' (Wissenschaftlich Humanitares Komitee) is regarded as the first LGBT advocacy organization in recorded history. The WHK was formed in pre-Weimar Germany in 1897.

Dr. [[Magnus Hirschfeld]] was one of the founding members of WHK.

The group's purpose was to raise public awareness of LGBT issues and to campaign for decriminalization of same-sex relationships, crossdressing, etc.

The original WHK remained active until 1933.

Short-lived attempts to re-form the WHK occurred in 1949 and 1962. In 1998, a new group was formed with the same name and similar purpose.
