Glossary Guidelines

The intended purpose of the Glossary is not to establish definitions of the various included terms but to document how the terms are used and/or have been used in the TG and LGBT communities, and, when applicable, the history of the terms.

Please do not remove any definitions, nor remove content within the definitions unless there is clearly documented evidence that the information is in error. If you disagree with what appears, please add your observations to what is already written.

Synonyms or close-synonyms of existing items should be entered as a redirect to the original, editing the original as appropriate if necessary.

Please be particularly sensitive when creating or editing items which individuals may use as a label of self-identity. Many individuals take things quite seriously and personally and some tend to get easily upset when identity labels are not used to their liking.
