As a co-organizer of the Ballroom Dancing event, I'd like to address
specific comments:

>Ballroom dancing was great

Thank you.

>specific dance(s) planned would be better.

I was the co-organizer who selected two dance styles for us to
learn, from the list the Studio said they could teach at the
beginner level. You may not realize this, but the studio changed
the lesson to our second choice, West Coast Swing. Their reasons
for changing to West Coast Swing seemed reasonable at the time,
and I deferred to their judgment, but the discussion when that
decision was made occurred no more than 24 hours before the class,
and there wasn't time to notify everyone of the change. I'm sorry
about that.

I presume you did not attend because you thought it would have been
a lesson in the Hustle, but maybe you would have attended if it had
been promoted as a West Coast Swing lesson. West Coast Swing is a
current dance, although pershaps a regional one, like Carolina Shag
is regional. By regional what I mean is that it's popularity is not
evenly distributed across the country or the world.

Speaking as a member of the ballroom dance community, I'd like to
remind everyone that "ballroom dance" means dancing with a partner.
A lot of people I meet tell me things like: I don't ballroom dance,
I dance Salsa (or I dance Tango). [Yeah, but you do it with a
partner, so that is ballroom dancing, by definition.]

>How about going to a real live runway type fashion show.
>Certainly the malls sponsor these on occasion. Back home
>here they have "trunk shows" and "luncheon shows" every so
>often. Can you look into this please.

Valerie of the Dance Studio offered to teach basic skills like
runway walking and I'd like to know if there is interest in having
a class like that in addition to (but not instead of) the Ballroom
Dance lesson. I validated her idea, and told her that while DLV
is different from the TG Conventions, she was spot on that this
type of offer would be of interest, I'm just not sure if it would be
right for DLV. What do you think? What additional information
would you like me to gather from Valerie for this discussion?

>For those that always asks for convention type activities or
>those that need basic necessities, ie "How to do hair, or
>nails, or make-up, dress, etc ..." Try and get venues like
>Glamour Boutique, Studio Lites, and Harmony Spa together and
>create a whole or separate packages to get a newbie or more
>experienced dressed properly with a overall price and
>pay-before type signup.

How about a class on walking and deportment from the dance studio?
See Paragraph above...
