I have stayed at the Sahara for all DLV years from 2000 thru 2006, plus
a couple of times in LV on business. I've always booked the lowest cost
"standard" room and ignored the come-on of the extra $$$ for the newer
Tangiers Tower. (Or as Tony calls it, the Tangerine Tower.) :)

Twice I've ended up in the Tunis Tower (or as Tony calls it, the Tuna
Tower) and once in the Alexandria Tower (which was a very nice room,
IMAO), but all other times I've ended up in the new(er) Tangiers
Tower by the luck of the draw.

Word on the street is that if you request non-smoking on your
reservation you will have a better chance of getting the Tangiers
Tower at the lower rate.
