>Of particular interest to us girls is Transformation by Rori which
>caters to the transgender community. Rori offers a wide selection of
>clothes and products, great makeovers and a gallery of TG History which
>you can view for free.
Let's see ... how do I put this without sounding, ... uh ... well, uh,
I usually find myself avoiding the t* shops, preferring "civilian"
sources, but the gallery of TG history seems interesting. Yes, I'm
probably curious enough to check that out. I'm kinda assuming this is
within walking distance of one of the El stations, am I correct?
Rori's does have very loyal following and has a very good reputation for
makeovers. It's probably worth checking out.
>However, we can go directly to Hunters, a large gay nightclub in the NW
>burbs. I think Pinkfest attendees enjoyed it last year.
The reason I found Hunters appealing is that it gives both an atmosphere
for dancing and for socializing. I think it offers the best of both
worlds in that respect.
>Ed's is on the northern edge of downtown Chicago. I have never been
>there but they have a very traditional american menu and describe
>themselves as having "Good food - fresh service".
So ... you've never been to Ed's, huh ... a virgin, huh? :)
It's one of my favorite places to go in Chicago. It's nouveau retro.
Burgers and blue plate specials plus a full bar. There's always an
eclectic crowd of townies and touristas there. We've been there for
every Pinkfest and they love us! No issues. Come to think of it, Ed's
is the only place we've been for every Pinkfest since the beginning. :)
>Gentry's is a fairly fancy gay bar about a mile away.
Actually, I think it's only about 6 blocks from Ed's. Gentry is right
down from the Grand/State subway station, and I've walked from that
station to Ed's several times. I know we took a taxi from Ed's to Gentry
last year, but it was raining. Otherwise an easy walk.
>Last years attraction, Rudy de la Mor, is out of town this year.
:( That's too bad. If you've never seen him, you are most certainly
missing out. :) Hilarious and very entertaining.
>Last year we ended up spending the evening at Sidetracks. Sidetracks
>is a nice gay bar and is t-friendly but there are many other bars in
>the area to check out too.
I liked Sidetracks (and the other Gentry across the street) but I would
like to explore the area some more. For the past few years, our crowd,
most of it, anyway, has expressed a desire for bars where people could
talk, as opposed to loud dance bars..
>For Sunday I listed two things which were discussed on the list some,
>church services at a MCC church or an early dinner at the Chop House.
Although I did change my plane reservation to leave Monday, I don't
expect to be back to life in time to make the services out in Oak Park.
>I might be able to go to the Chop House.
I've always wanted to try that place, plus late afternoon will probably
time just right for my first (only) meal of the day. :)
>During previous years there have not been {Sunday} Pinkfest events.
Ya know, we've talked about this but it never really happened. First
year we planned to meet at an IHOP I know of, but I had to leave earlier
than I expected in order to get a client project fixed by that Monday
morning. Sunday morning is probably the worst time to get people
together, since most don't get to bed until very late the night before.
>Again I invite feedback so we make this schedule the most enjoyable for
>everyone.
The only real feedback is that I think you are doing an excellent job
at this, so let's hear a big round of applause for Elena!
(clap-clap-clap {whistle!} clap clap)
I think the schedule is falling together quite nicely!
