Comments: I would like to try something new this year by going to Oak
Park. Downtown Oak Park has many nice storefront shops. Of particular
interest to us girls is Transformation by Rori which caters to the
transgender community. Rori offers a wide selection of clothes and
products, great makeovers and a gallery of TG History which you can view
for free.
Winberie's, in downtown Oak Park, has very good food and excellent
service.
Nutbush is a friendly LGBT neighborhood bar in Oak Park less than a mile
from Winberie's. I thought it would be nice to stop there for a drink
and conversation. However, we can go directly to Hunters, a large gay
nightclub in the NW burbs. I think Pinkfest attendees enjoyed it last
year. Thursday night is relatively slow but they should have a decent
crowd.
During the day for Friday or Saturday I am listing a possible boat
trip. So far only Diane and I have expressed interest. Anyone else
interested please speak up! My day preference would be Friday but I can
go for either day.
Friday and Saturday evenings are basically the same as last year which
attendees enjoyed. Ed's is on the northern edge of downtown Chicago. I
have never been there but they have a very traditional american menu and
describe themselves as having "Good food - fresh service".
Gentry's is a fairly fancy gay bar about a mile away. They have cabaret
entertainment such as piano & a singer. It is a good place to
socialize. Last years attraction, Rudy de la Mor, is out of town this
year. The Baton featuring excellent drag shows is also close by. Anyone
interested in the Baton, speak up!
Saturday starts off with dinner at Ann Sather's. They have excellent
food. They do not have a liquor license but they allow BYOB which
worked fine last year. Ann Sathers is a couple of blocks from many
Boystown gay bars. Last year we ended up spending the evening at
Sidetracks. Sidetracks is a nice gay bar and is t-friendly but there
are many other bars in the area to check out too.
For Sunday I listed two things which were discussed on the list some,
church services at a MCC church or an early dinner at the Chop House. I
might be able to go to the Chop House. During previous years there have
not been Pinkfest events.
Again I invite feedback so we make this schedule the most enjoyable for
everyone.
hugs,
Elena
