Org List:
This is the DLV 2016 Organizational Mailing List (dlvorg_at_geekbabe.com)
Replies to this message will be forwarded to the DLVORG list and not
the DLV-Announce or DLV-Discuss list.

Hotels and such:
Thanks to all for the feedback on hotels.
No objections to the slate of hotels were raised, so we've posted the
suggested hotels on the web site and we'll send out a general mailing
shortly to announce that and other things.
Beverly has announced the prices for the Flamingo which are available
to our group. See item below.
We sincerely thank Bev for taking the initiative on this matter as it
does quite a bit to make DLV affordable!
. . . . . . . . . .
Also, thanks to all for helping to shake down the new systems projects.
As of this writing, all of the older style annual follow-up pages from
1999 forward have been converted to the newer themes and style.
Thanks for the reports on the broken images on the Most Recent Comments
page.

Testing re-registration:
With our earlier start date this year, several of the usual events which
happen as DLV approaches will happen earlier on the calendar than they
have in most previous years.
We want to get the re-registration e-mails out to the Teeming Millions
around the middle of December.
As is the usual case, we'll use you, the volunteers, as the test
audience to shake down and verify the registration processes.
Therefore, most of you on the ORG list can expect to receive your
re-registration e-mail within the next few days. Please consider this to
be a "for real" working test.
As usual, please report any issues with your re-registration.
If for some reason you don't get this in the next few days, don't worry,
you're not being snubbed. The most likely reason is that your ORG e-mail
address does not match the address on file in the DLV registration.
As discussed, DLV 2016 registration and Attendee Information Portal
functions will remain on the geekbabe.com domain.

Schedule:
Gina writes:
Did you get my request to tentatively schedule shooting for Thursday
morning?
. . . . . . . . . .
Annie responds:
It's noted, but we haven't started the actual scheduling process yet.
We'll be seeding the schedule as soon as we get a firm consensus on
the daily strategy.
What time on Thursday do you want it to be? Where?

Art Tour and timing:
Sarah (with the "h") writes:
An issue I've seen over the years with the Art Tour finding the best
start and end times to match up with other events. Starting too early
occasionally kept those doing lunch (or a late breakfast) from joining
in. On the other side ending too late would keep those who needed a
little extra time to get back to their room and "freshen up" for the
evening from attending.
There is a proposal to merge a couple of activities and just go with a
flow from lunch on into the evening. That can work for those who don't
want to change or don't need to scrape the face, but doesn't meet
everyone's needs or match transportation challenges.
My question to the group is what times will work the best for daytime
activities? 2-4? 3-5? 2:30-3:30? 1:27-4:48?
. . . . . . . . . .
Annie responds:
I'm thinking mostly in terms of what will get you your best turnout at
the "Art Tour" type of activities and, of course, what will result in
the best level of enjoyment by those who participate.
Since we've moved the defacto Lunch With Ginger start time to noon, the
afternoon window is theoretically one hour wider. What I would suggest,
however, is to plan Art Tour afternoon activities following lunch at
"known quantitqy" venues which have good track records for hosting an
on-time lunch with an on-time wind-up.
This should make a 2pm-ish start time for an Art Tour activity very
realistic and doable, assuming it's reasonably centrally located.
Don't forget the morning window as well. With the daily KKK starting at
8:00am, a 9:30-ish start time will be realistic if you want to do
something in the morning.
I'm questioning ("to question is the answer") if trying to do day-long
or day-into-evening mega-activities will be worthwhile. I suggest that
some feedback from potential partipants be sought prior to scheduling
such a thing.
