Speak now or forever:
"Ain't broke, don't fix it" is the clear consensus regarding the length
of the event and the start/stop days of the week.
The concern of extending, expressed both on and off line, is summed up
by Ginger in this soundbite:
> the quality of proposed activities and number of volunteer hosts.
Although we did have some voluntarily say that if we bit off more, they
would be willing to chew more, the overall strength of our volunteer
force is the primary constraining factor regarding the length and the
intensity of our event.
Another concern expressed by multiple individuals is that of the
personal limits the attendees have, including free time and even such
things as the wear and tear on the face from makeup application and
removal.
No objections to the March 22 week were received. It was noted that the
Keystone Conference occurs one week prior, but no suggestions that we
consider rescheduling due to this were heard.
The Call For Comments will officially close this Saturday.
Unless someone yells "STOP" between now and Saturday, we'll announce the
timeframe of Sunday, March 22 thru Friday, March 27, as the solid dates
for DLV 2015 in a general mailing.
. . . . . . . . . .
We have some very good thoughts regarding the Lunch With series
including a very different type of lunch proposal. Please continue to
discuss.
The time of the daily Lunch With for Pinkfest has also been a topic of
discussion on the Pinkfest forum, and it appears that 12:00 noon is the
preferred consensus among that group.
Although it will really be up to those who sponsor the luncheons to set
the time in stone, it appears that things are moving toward an earlier
start, such as noon-ish, as opposed to our long-standing 1:00pm.
. . . . . . . . . .
There seems to be a lot of confusion, both among the Teeming Millions
and even among the organizers and volunteers, as to what our spans of
days have been in recent years. Even some rather bizarre (Tuesday thru
Sunday???) spans were cited. It appears to be that some were thinking of
the days they attended as the perceived days of the event.
If anyone is ever confused about the dates/days of our previous events,
please surf here:

These were taken from the original schedules.
. . . . . . . . . .
As many of you know, the DLV 2014 follow-up pages were rolled out last
Thursday, slightly ahead of schedule. Yes, we saw a good "spike" in web
traffic immediately following the announcement in the Discussion Forum.
We'll include an announcement in the general mailing this Saturday.
One thing that did not happen as planned was the addition of the times
viewed and comments on the current year's and recent years' photos. This
will happen, and within the immediate future, but it was thought best to
not delay the pages for this feature. As of this time, it appears that
this will be easily added to the 2012-2014 pages but will take some
major surgery to add this to the prior pages.

Lunch With Dr. Victoria:
Dionne writes:
On the topic of Lunch With I just spoke with Dr. Victoria about her
interest in hostessing a lunch event. She was thrilled to be asked and
offered the EHM as a lunch meeting place.
The new EHM has been remodeled and now has a meeting room. It can easily
accommodate 40 people for lunch. For their Grand Opening, they had over
200 in attendance. It depends on how the room is setup.
Checkout the new website to see photos:

Harry Mohney's Erotic Heritage Museum is a 24,000 square foot space
dedicated to the preservation of great erotic heritage, featuring
artifacts, fine art, and film. In keeping with the legacy of the
American Sexual Revolution, the Museum is steadfast to the belief that
sexual pleasure and fun are natural aspects of the human experience,
that such pleasure must be made available to all, and that our
individual sexuality belongs to each of us.
Mr. Harry Mohney was presented with a Star on the Vegas Walk of Stars:

Dr. Victoria says the best day for her schedule is Wed. March 25th. So,
if we move ahead with our planned calendar, this puts this Lunch With
Dr. Victoria in the middle of the week. I'm offering to coordinate this
Lunch With event. She said she will donate her time to our group since
the Divas have been so supportive of her mission. I suggest we plan on
giving her a tip or something extra for her valuable time.
When I mentioned how much we all appreciated her top-rated Hustler event
this year, she says she's open to repeating the Hustler event but I
didn't inquire further since this was not my event. I will offer my
support to the hostess for this one, though.
Please open this idea up for DLV discussion.

Annie responds:
Thanks Dionne.
Yes, this varies quite a bit from the Lunch With model that we are used
to. I do have a few questions and concerns, and I would invite all to
please comment on the proposal and on the points I'm bringing up.
I'm assuming that this lunch will be in addition to, and not in place of
some kind of an "anchor" activity at the EHM some evening during DLV. Am
I correct on this?
What is the intended fare for lunch? More importantly for many of the
attendees, in deciding whether or not to partake, what is the intended
price point?
Speaking of price points, will the usual admission/donation apply for
those attending the lunch? Adding a $10 charge above and beyond the
price for the meal could easily impact the turnout.

Lunch With:
Katie writes:
I don't have an answer to the declining attendance for Lunch with Ginger
or whoever is running it on a specific day. I can only say why I
personally have not attended more than a couple of them. The dining
choices in L/V are always vast and the presentation is usually very good
at the many buffets around town. The secret is to dine lightly and not
be tempted to over eat just because it is there and you have paid for
it. (Anyone recognize themselves here? *lol*) This is especially
important if you have plans to are dine out within the usual meal time
span which you normally go by. Ok. Everybody is not perfect as we all
know and some will be tempted to overdo lunch anyway and spoil their
evening meal regardless of what I or others will say And I don't know
what the solution to this is.
In my case I am sometimes starving in the early part of the morning
which prompts me to have a muffin or something of that nature around
7AM. The Vegas Monster muffins are usually quite large and can keep me
going until Lunch at 11 or 11:30. Now to the kicker... If I am dining
out at lets say 6. PM or earlier that day then I will probably be
wasting my money on a meal I will not finish when evening arrives .
On the other hand, If I am dining around 7 or 8 PM then all is well and
I will very likely enjoy both meals. But 2 buffets in a day definitely
would not be a smart decision. If I have 2 buff's in a day it is usually
the Brecky Buff and the supper one with nothing in between but a few
drinks here and there. A lighter lunch with whoever might be a decent
approach but I will leave that to the hostesses and those who are
joining them for lunch.
Eat lightly and prosper as they say!
Any other ideas girls?

Booking fees:
Delaney writes:
I have been meaning to write you for what now has to be two months on
something I have seen twice on Vegas hotel sites.
They were running a room sale, and had some pretty good rates, but then
would charge a non-refundable booking fee. Perhaps this was a one-off,
but I first noticed it a few months ago. These are direct offers from
Caesar's properties, not via a third party. As I was just looking to
keep a pulse on the rates, it didn't impact me, but it may be something
that we should look/let girls know as DLV gets closer.
. . . . . . . . . .
Annie responds:
Yes, we need to make this information available to the attendees, along
with warnings about resort fees and all kinds of other nuisance charges.
The last one of these I heard of was a "telephone convenience charge"
for rooms booked by phone, which did not apply for rooms booked on line.
We'll be sure to place a notice very conspicuously on our hotel page for
DLV 2015.

Pre-DLV:
Marisa Writes:
The pre-DLV event could use some help. Adding it to the regular schedule
would give those who come to LV early and need to leave early in the
week more time to plan ahead.
. . . . . . . . . .
Annie responds:
There's only one way we will ever know if placing the Pre-DLV gathering
more visibly on the schedule will help, and that is to try it and see if
it works.
Another suggestion (again, Marisa, IIRC) is to also include Dancing At
Paris as a Pre-DLV option on the schedule. Again, the only way to see if
this helps is to try it. The schedule tools will accommodate this, and
as long as we carefully note that these are not part of the "official"
program I'm personally cool with it.
Comments, gang?
