Org List:
This is the DLV 2014 Organizational Mailing List (dlvorg_at_geekbabe.com)
Replies to this message will be forwarded to the DLVORG list and not
the DLV-Announce or DLV-Discuss list.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
General ORG items:
This mailing, again, focuses on topics other than the Welcome
Celebration. The Welcome Celebration Preference survey closes on Friday,
two days from today, and a report to this list will be going out shortly
after.
Speaking of which, if you have not taken the WC survey, please do so.
It's on line here:
http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/2014wcsurvey.html
Last call! :)
. . . . . . . . . .
BIG THANKS go out to all who have volunteered to plan activities and of
course to those who have volunteered to take over in cases where the
designated Coordinator may not be able to do it this year. We are way
ahead of schedule on most of our planning!
All, please look over the schedule. Many items have been recently added
and we want to be sure everything that's supposed to be there is there
and the timing is the way it is wanted.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Missing ORG items:
First of all, if anyone sends in anything to the DLVORG list and it
appears to vanish into a black hole, please be assured that it's a
technical issue or a human oversight and certainly not a snub!
Blatantly ignoring one's input is not our style, period.
When you send something in to ORG, one of the following should result:
1. The note appears in one of these mailings.
2. A reference to it appears in one of these mailings.
3. A personal reply is sent to you.
If you send something in and none of the above happen, please resend
and/or remind.
Please keep in mind that our ORG mailings usually have a 2-3 day cycle
for review, approval, proof-read, editing, etc., so sometimes items
received late in the cycle will be held for a subsequent ORG mailing.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Registration testing:
Within the next list cycle we'll be sending out a test batch of
re-registration e-mails to those of you flagged as volunteers.
If you plan to attend DLV this next year (we surely hope you do!) please
help us shake down the registration system. Consider the system to be
live and "for real" at the time you receive the mailing.
Please be on the lookout for such things as misspellings, grammatical
errors, technical errors, error messages, unexpected displays,
anachronisms (references to DLV 2013 and such) and anything else
that does not appear to be as expected.
If you're on the ORG list and don't receive a test re-registration
e-mail, please don't take it as a snub! There are several reasons why
this might happen, the most common being that the e-mail address you use
for this list does not match what's on file in the registration info.
As always, MyDLV members may (re)register at their convenience by
following the appropriate link.
Thanks for helping us shake down the registration process. :)

Wigs and beads and dining:
Cami writes:
Why don't you plug the wig seminar and the beading party for Monday
after noon starting around 1 o'clock. I will confirm time and location.
Not sure if it can be as late as what you're thinking for the newcomers.
Also, based on the outcome of the welcome celebration venue, I would
like to host a dinner party at Carmines. Let me know what night might be
best for that.
. . . . . . . . . .
Thanks, Cami. Please check the exact timing on the schedule below and
let us know of any changes.
In the event that Carmine's is not selected for Monday, a good fit would
be for a smaller group on Tuesday. We don't have an Italian option in
there so Carmine's would round that out nicely. :)

PF Chang and EHM timing:
Sara writes:
While I understand this mailing isn't so much about Thursday night, I
had been under the impression that PF Chang's was penciled in for
Wednesday evening. However, in looking further at the schedule, I'd
rather not go up against both NSD & a winery dinner. As such, I'd like
to suggest moving PF Chang's to Thursday night as a lead-in to EHM as it
has been in past years.
My only question would then be whether the EHM time of 7:30 is set in
stone. It that event could start at 8:00, it would be easier to plan
dinner to begin at 5:30, ending at 7:30 which gives people time to get
over to EHM as many like to do both events. Just a thought.
. . . . . . . . . .
Annie responds:
We were holding off scheduling PF Chang until you gave the word.
We've also adjusted the timing of the Thursday activities to coincide
with the PF Chang and EHM timing last year.
Sara, Marisa, and Sherry, please look over the Thursday evening timing
and let us know if any further adjustments need to be made.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Grotto at Golden Nugget:
Beverly writes:
Let's put The Grotto at Golden Nugget on the Sunday night dining option
schedule. It will offer a great dining experience to the downtown area
gathering. I know I can get Katie to co-host it with me. We really
enjoyed dining there last year.
Looking at all of the activities I am involved with hosting or
co-hosting this year I think I will rethink finding another daytime
activity for Wednesday morning.
Instead, I will try to have an informal outing, perhaps shopping or some
site-seeing thing, with a small group of 4 or 5 gals (or maybe go
skydiving again).
. . . . . . . . . .
Annie responds:
Thanks, Beverly. Grotto is on the schedule. :)
Shopping, of about any theme, would be a good fit on Wednesday morning
and/or afternoon.
Skydiving would be something that maybe some others would be interested
in. Even if nobody wants to jump, a "Watch Beverly jump out of a plane"
activity may attract an audience. :)
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
High Tea:
Marilyn writes:
At this time I don't know if I will be able to attend Diva 2014. My 20th
wedding anniversary is the week before, and may preclude me from taking
2 weeks off from work. If someone wants to take over and wants to know
the process just e-mail me ...
. . . . . . . . . .
JoAnn responds:
Annie and Beverly, I will take on the High Tea this year for Marilyn if
she cannot make it.
Marilyn, Understand one's other commitments.
I will be glad to help you out this year on the High Tea. Any info on
your contacts, etc. would be great.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Carla's Boutique:
Aejaie writes:
The start of Diva is happening the same time as the International
Lingerie show. The Lingerie show runs march 31 - April 2, but is not
open to the public.
I will be attending the show, as it is one of the shows many of my
wholesalers are at.
I'm trying to see if I can work out an events after the show with a
couple of wholesalers, giving Diva participates a look at what is coming
out in the spring/summer 2014
The Rio hotel is being difficult, but I 'm hoping to have things worked
out by the first of the year.
. . . . . . . . . .
JoAnn responds:
Aejaie, Keep me posted.
If there is anything I can do to assist let me know. I need to get over
to San Jose to visit with you.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Ballroom Dancing:
Julie Brenda writes:
Still want Ballroom Dancing? I could put in a few calls to set that up,
if I had some dates that it might work. The last time we did it, the
studio also offered that next time they could also teach a class in (if
I recall correctly) advanced movement in high heels (runway, style and
grace).
Discuss?
. . . . . . . . . .
Annie responds:
Thanks Julie.
We haven't had this for a number of years now, so it will be fresh and
those who have not done it will be able to do so.
As for timing, the way the schedule sits now, Tuesday or Thursday late
morning or afternoon appear to be the best. Let us know what you want to
do.
Comments, gang?
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Pamplemousse:
Delaney writes:
I have reserved Pamplemousse for Tuesday at 7PM, dinner for ten.
. . . . . . . . .
Annie responds:
Thanks Delaney. It's on the schedule.
I seem to recall some kind of happy hour issue last year. Do you want to
do HH at Pamplemousse or at a different nearby location this year?
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Bar Rescue:
Marisa writes:
Robyn and Dale (cohost Stacy J) are planning a lady chauffeured "Bar
Rescue" tour from 1pm to about 6pm beginning and ending at Denny's
Neonopolis on Sunday for about $18.
. . . . . . . . . .
Thanks Marisa, Robyn, Dale, Stacy. It's on the schedule.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Art Tour:
Sarah writes:
I'm planning on an Art Tour event, probably on Tuesday afternoon and
maybe one on Thursday as well. Right now I'm waiting to see what will be
at the Bellagio.
On January 2nd, they will be closing the exhibit we saw last year and
setting up something new, but have yet to announce what will be filling
the space when we are there.
I'll keep the list updated. I've been planning a short trip to Las Vegas
to look around at other options, but haven't been able to make the trip
yet. In the city of a thousand distractions, I'm sure there will be a
good match for our group.
. . . . . . . . . .
JoAnn responds:
Sarah--
Look forward to what you fine for us.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Hotels:
No objections were received to the (Harrah's, Tuscany, Paris) list of
hotels as our suggested hotels for 2014 so these have been noted on the
web site and a note on this will be included in the general mailing
which will come out within the next week.
