Feedback requested:
Volunteers: What we need at this time is feedback from you on two items.
1. Location of Welcome Celebration, your preference and any alternate
suggestions. Kandi has also posed the question of whether a casino-based
or stand-alone facility is better for our group. Please see below.
2. Your Top Five favorites of the suggested new activities. Many of the
volunteers have yet to "report in" on this one.
Of course, other ideas and suggestions for new activities are welcome as
well.

Since I intend to come next year (2014) you can put me down to organise
an EON option. Probably something higher end such as Joe's Crab and
Steak at Caesars but I'll work that out later! :-)
Are the dates set in CONCRETE yet?
. . . . . . . . . .
Thanks for volunteering Michelle. Just let us know your venue selection
when we get to putting the schedule together.
The dates are essentially set, but the concrete is not dry yet. :) We
have received no objections to the agreed-upon dates, so most likely
August 15 will arrive with no issues on the dates. That is when the
dates will officially become final.

Thanks to those who have sent in their Top Five selections.

Yes, let's close this at the end of August. This will give us a list of
the most frequently cited items. This will allow at least 1-2 more list
cycles.
And, since there is a need for a "theme" for the EHM Costume Party,
looking at the list below we find:
+Rockabilly party
The OP's remark in feedback was:
+How about a Rockabilly party. 50-s outfits, hairdos shoes music.
+Elvis, Link Wray, the like. Bettie Page looks, like that.
Marisa? Sherry? Would a rockabilly theme fit in with what you have in
mind?

Opening preference:
Michelle writes:
My two cents worth says Buca de Beppo but either should be fine.
. . . . . . . . . .
Delaney writes:
I would vote for Buca di Bepp, but it's a 55/45 preference, based
mainly on the menu.
. . . . . . . . . .
Kandi writes:
Since I recently visited both places and reported back favorably, I have
these comments;
Firefly Paradise has excellent food, private dinner area and beautiful
decor. It was very TG friendly and I will return again.
I visited the Buca de Beppo, http://www.bucadibeppo.com/ restaurants at
both the 412 E Flamingo Rd., Las Vegas (702) 866-2867 and EXCALIBUR,
3850 Las Vegas Blvd. South Las Vegas, NV 89109
There is a night & day difference between these two locations. The main
difference is the amount of public exposure with Excalibur being
significant and Flamingo being much lower. Flamingo is located in a
small shopping mall with convenient free parking. They offer group
dining areas with walled separation between groups. We could easily
occupy adjoining areas and still be separated from walk-in traffic at
this place. Obviously, the menu is the same for both locations.
So, please consider a large group will have more newcomers and they
might feel more comfortable in the Flamingo location.

. . . . . . . . . .
Thanks, ladies.
To all, if you have any preferences, strong or otherwise, for either
Buca de Beppo or Firefly Paradise for our opening gathering, please give
us your input. Also, what are your thoughts regarding the degree of
exposure between a casino-based facility and a stand-alone facility.

Dancing and such:
lol .. teaching. I would have to take quite a few more classes before I
am ready for that. The key is to not let being a bad dancer stop you
from having fun.
I have only been to Charlie's once (during bingo night) and liked the
atmosphere. During the 2012 Scavenger Hunt we even got our picture with
the drag queen hosts. I never made it to line dancing night, but would
try it. It would definitely be a contrast with the pole dancing. Last
time I tried tango, my partner ended up hurt when I backed her into a
post (she did forgive me eventually). Maybe I should learn how to
follow. At least in pole dancing, I can't hurt the pole.

Hotels and resort fees:
Delaney writes:
Interestingly, I did some checking of the Caesars' properties room rates
(which I know don't mean much at this point) however what is meaningful
is it seems many properties are at an $18 resort fee, not $10. The Quad
is $10, Bally's and Harrahs are $18, Paris is at $20, Caesar's itself is
$25. Booking today, even the Quad would total in the low $70s per night,
largely negating its longstanding advantage as the "cheap place on the
strip".
. . . . . . . . . .
When we select our suggested hotels, we'll be sure to note any of those
pesky "Resort Fees" that are now use by all but a few properties. Yes,
the CET (Caesars/Harrahs) properties have recently gone to resort fees.
