Org List:
This is the DLV 2013 Organizational Mailing List (dlvorg_at_geekbabe.com)
Replies to this message will be forwarded to the DLVORG list and not
the DLV-Announce or DLV-Discuss list.

Touching base:
This is a very quick touch-base and check-signals e-mail.
These numbers change almost hourly. This is a current snapshot.
As of Friday morning, 135 out of 174 registrations are in one way
or another reconfirmed. Add 31 reconfirmed SOs to that and we get
a total of 166 who are realistically planning to attend. The Magic
Machine, using a fairly conservative fudge factor, says that 134
of those will actually report in.
Another 8 registrations are in various stages on the path. New
registrations continue to come in regularly, probably 1 1/2 per
day on average lately.
Assuming that number above turns out to be on the conservative
side, and that new registrations come in as they have been, and
that we don't get an absolute rush of late cancellations, we're
on target for a 150-160 total headcount.
We still have 31 in a cancellation pending state. History has shown
that most of these will eventually be cancelled for no response of
any type, whether it be signing up for activities or reconfirming
by e-mail.
If you're coordinating a sign-up activity, you can consider your
sign-up lists to be about 90-95% complete as of this time.

Pre-DLV:
So far we have received no suggestions for a Pre-DLV get-together
venue.
Is this something we want to do? (I don't know, I'm asking.)
The Pre-DLV gathering used to be a very popular activity. However,
for the past two years the attendance was far less than in the
late 2000s.
We do need to "defecate or abdicate" on this one soon.

Waiting lists:
All waiting lists are short as of this time, to the point that
attrition will most likely allow all who want to do something
to do it.
You, as a Coordinator, however, make the actual call as to what
to do if you have more sign-ups than you can actually handle.
Here's how things stack up as of Friday morning:
Pamplemousse has one singular opening. A couple signing up will go
directly to the waiting list.
Girlfriend Party Makeovers has a capacity of 15, 20 signed up, and
the Magic Machine says 12.8 of them will show so there is
most likely not a capacity issue.
Monday evening dinner sign-up is heavy even though there is no hard
limit that we're imposing. If you plan on doing this, please arrive
early and encourage others to do so as well!
Oscar's dining option is right at the limit.
Ruth's Chris has a capacity of 12, sign-up of 15, and the Magic
Machine says that 12.3 of them will show.
PF Changs has shown a brisk sign-up in the later days this week.
Capacity is 40, sign-up is 45, 33.7 expected to show. Full flag
has not been put up since a fairly significant no-show count is
expected from the statistics.
Trap shooting has a capacity of 15, 17 signed up, and 14.1 expected
to show up.
Pole Dancing has a capacity of 14, 15 signed up, 11.1 expected to
show up.
Trevi has two openings, but the show-up estimate gives quite a bit
of breathing room.
Limo Tour is full. Some fall-out is expected and most everybody
should get their first choice and their riding mates.
High Tea shows a limit of 20, 20 signed up, 16 expected to show.
No full flag on this one due to the expected fall-out.
All Macy's Makeover sessions are full.
Bahama Breeze shows a limit of 100, 95 signed up, the Magic Machine
says that 72 will show up and eat.
That's it for this morning's report, gang! :)

Check-in duty:
Pamela writes:
I would love to volunteer for check in process.

Annie responds:
Thanks, Pamela.
Let's be sure what you're volunteering for please.
Are you volunteering to take the lead and "own" the check-in
process overall or just to do the actual check-in where and when
you're needed? Please let us know.

Cutting our losses:
Annie writes:
Here is the list of those who, as of Friday morning, are in the
cancellation pending state. We did not include volunteers on this
list (there are a few) but those who appear to be rank and file.
Let's see if we can salvage at least a few of these!
Please look over the list. If you recognize any of these, and are
personally acquainted with them, either on line or in real life,
please consider reaching out to them and asking if there is anything
we can do to encourage them to attend.
For some, I'm sure, the reason is mostly financial, and we're not
asking you to give/loan anyone any $$$. However, if anyone is feeling
uneasy or uncertain, perhaps some encouragement or attention will
help.
