Date selection:
Please note the date comments below. Nothing earthshaking has been
received regarding any of the three candidate weeks.
Plans are to continue on the same path as last year, and to open up
a one-month Call For Comments period, after which we'll vote on the
2013 dates.
In the meantime, please continue to discuss thoughts on other topics
such as hospitality, communications, etc.

So lets send out the dates for discussion.

Right now all three work for me. That will of course change. But getting
first dibbs is always a good idea. I'd avoid week two if there is no
other compelling reason to have in order to include Julie from Laughlin,
i've missed her.

Regarding dates... I do look forward to increasing my participation with
each year and, truthfully, choice #1 is not possible for me at all... #2
is best, 100% availability... #3 is overlapping with another commitment
that pre-exists, limiting me to 45% to 55% availability...

Any of those three weeks work for me.
Thanks for your efforts.

Let's avoid the Laughlin Motorcycle Run conflict; I've lost too much
sleep to motorcycles gathering in Las Vegas prior to that rally in at
least one previous year!

Thanks to all who provided input. We'll be including these in the
"scoreboard" tabulations following the Call For Comments.

Hospitality thoughts:
Walter writes:
I have been quiet on the hospitality-debate recently because I honestly
believe the process is moving ahead nicely...
I will mention I personally like DocRobbySherry (sincerest apologies if
I botched name) suggestion of color coding... pending Rosada's input,
obviously... but red and orange may not be best, as they often signal
"danger"...
I thank you all deeply for opportunity to participate and to enjoy your
collective company.

Thanks, Walter.
I might suggest that you consider volunteering to assist Rosada with
the name tags this coming year, if she needs the help.
The one thing we will need to do is to agree upon the methods we will
use to capture the information needed for any name tag identifiers
that are decided upon.

Communications thoughts:
A couple of thoughts on DLV 2013 ..........

Those of us lucky enough to have Clear Wireless as our regular
Internet provider can bring our receivers with us and have "free"
Internet assuming we are lucky enough to get a room where the signal
is sufficient.
First year I brought mine the access speed seemed to depend on the way
the wind was blowing if at all, but last year it was very fast. I
usually stay in the Stratosphere and if I need more Internet connection
than my 4G smart phone gives me, the walk to McDonalds on Sahara is
nothing compared to the hotel holdup rate for Internet access which I
refuse to pay anywhere!
. . . . . . . . . .
Thanks Ginger.
Yes, Internet access in Las Vegas hotels is extortive, whether it's
paid for separately or bundled into that confiscatory "Resort Fee"
which has become trendy among those who operate hotels.
Although it's much too late for a survey question this year, it
would be interesting to query the Teeming Millions as to how many
of them bring laptops with them, and/or have some kind of convenient
Internet access while at DLV.
The bigger question is along the line of how many of those who do
indeed have convenient Internet access during DLV will have enough
of an interest to use it to view and exchange information about the
goings on at DLV?
