Thanks everybody:
This may be the last ORG mailing regarding DLV 2011, depending on
if we have anything significant come in that should go out before
we inaugurate the 2012 ORG list.
Big thanks to all for making DLV 2011 the success it was. Our
event was rated very highly. See survey follow-up below.
We'll be adding the new volunteers and sending out an introductory
mailing to the 2012 ORG list on or about June 1. A test message to
the list will go out shortly before.
If you believe you should be on the 2012 ORG list and do not
receive the test message before June 1, please let us know.

JoAnn Sez:
The Diva Week 2011 was a "Diva Las Vegas Gathering " made wonderful by
all who volunteered and those who attended. I see myself as being
fortunate to part of such an event.
Thank you all for your contributions of unselfish giving to create an
event whereby all of those who attended had the opportunity to
experience their "female self-actualization".... [The musician must make
music and artist must paint if they are to be ultimately happy. What a
person can be, must be. Such an experience is called
self-actualization.] Reference: Maslow, Abraham. "A Theory of Human
Motivation", _Psychological Review_(1943).
The "Gathering of 2011" will become the "Challenge of 2012".
I hope all of you will join Annie and I and take up that challenge
again in 2012! Till then..........* *JoAnn* *Segrue*

In particular, the enjoyment ratings for almost all of our 2011
activities were between very good and exceptionall!
We tracked 67 activities this year, actually more, since several
ratings covered a combined HH/dinner and such.
Of particular note, EVERY activity we tracked which had over 30
responses scored over 4.5 on the enjoyment scale! This appears to
be a FIRST in our history.
+Happy Hour, Dinner, Welcome Celebration, Monday: 4.51 (78 responses)
+Erotic Heritage Museum, Tuesday: 4.59 (44 responses) (4 no-shows)
+Crossdressers.com Social, HH, Dinner, Wednesday: 4.78 (33 responses)
+Frank Marino Divas Show, Wednesday: 4.75 (33 responses) (2 no-shows)
+Pre-Limo Happy Hour and Dinner, Trevi, Thursday: 4.79 (34 responses)
+Limousine Tour, Thursday: 4.63 (36 responses) (5 no-shows)
+Happy Hour, Dinner, Farewell, Bahama Breeze, Friday: 4.77 (67 responses)
+Dancing at Paris, Friday: 4.55 (47 responses)
This includes our two maximum-attendance gatherings, our two
featured "anchor" activities on Tuesday and Thursday, two medium
scale dining activities, and others.
Every single activity we tracked on Friday, from the early
hours of Friday morning to the wee hours of Saturday morning,
also scored 4.5 or higher on the enjoyment scale!
+Charles Bar, Bellagio, Friday: 4.50 (10 responses)
+Pistol-Rifle Shooting, Friday: 4.63 (11 responses) (3 no-shows)
+Lunch With Ginger, Paris Buffet, Friday: 4.54 (11 responses)
+High Tea, Four Seasons, Friday: 4.87 (16 responses) (2 no-shows)
+Makeover sessions (session 1), Macy's FSM, Friday: 5.0 (2 responses)
+Makeover sessions (session 2), Macy's FSM, Friday: 5.0 (1 responses)
+Makeover sessions (session 3), Macy's FSM, Friday: 5.0 (3 responses)
+Happy Hour, Dinner, Farewell, Bahama Breeze, Friday: 4.77 (67 responses)
+Dancing at Paris, Friday: 4.55 (47 responses)
That, ladies (gentlemen) is a strong ending, our second year in
a row!
Almost everything this year scored 4.0 or higher on both the
enjoyment and comfort scales. Everyone who coordinated or assisted
with our DLV 2011 activities can look back upon this year with
pride!
Please go over the survey results if you have not done so already.
Very few negative items in the survey this year!

Semi-final headcounts:
Please give this list a final once-over. If no corrections are
made, we'll consider these to be the final activity headcounts
for DLV 2011.
In several cases the numbers which were reported were very
conservative, and were exceeded by the number of enjoyment
ratings on the survey. Those numbers have been adjusted upward
and noted with a single asterisk.
In one case, an activity reported as having no participants had
a quite meaningful turnout and participation which was not
noted at the time.

Fremont Street Experience:
Delaney writes:
I went down to see the lightshow, and then left and hung out at
the piano bar in Palazzo until about midnight. I was at the
Buffalo Happy Hour, but didn't meet the person you mentioned
might be going. But yes, it will be interesting to see if others
went.
. . . . . . . . . .
Delaney, we have quite a surprise for you!
Not only did you have a meaningful turnout, you had an enjoyment
rating right up there with the best!
+Fremont Street Experience, Wednesday: 4.75 (8 responses)
Eight responses is definitely not a fluke. My guess is that there
were actually more, and that those who participated wanted to do
their own thing, transportation wise.

To Delaney, re: Fremont Street Experience
I wish I had looked closer and had more experience at Diva, this
one was only my 2nd.
I and another Diva would have definately been there. The Fremont
walk is very much a fun thing to do in group formation.
Jane and I walked it Monday night - she in her Victorian gown - and
we had a grand time of it. Jane lives for this sort of thing.
Our pictures are posted on the photo board. I've walked it twice,
alone, which is quite scarey, but in a large group it's a parade.
Normally, I think we would have done it after Firefly opener.
Let's schedule it again for next year and see if we can't get a
crowd together for it. Dragging the casino pits is the best part
of it, the dealers and players secretly love it, it's a pleasant
distraction for them, and a real opportunity for us to show off
in our finest and flaunt our politiical image too.

Margaritaville:
Darlene writes:
yes the turnout at magueritiville adjacent to the imperila
palace from where i was staying we had around 25 gals and two
admirers that attended. I co- hosted this with sabrina.
The service was excellent and so were the drinks we took a few
pics from it and i guess a good way to kick off that week with
this sunday affair
hope to have more there next year and hopefully diva will keep
in mind me for helping with planning next year.
i was also aware i made history i first transgender girl of color
to attend in the 11 year history as well.
. . . . . . . . . .
Thanks, Darlene.
Margaritaville did go rather well. This would be a great one to
have for a featured "Mainstream Common Gathering", should we try
the same slow-start strategy next year.
As for the ethnic diversity of DLV. It's very obvious that the
majority of the attendees are Caucasian. However, we've had
other ethnic groups since the early days. I remember that in
1999 we had both African-American and Native American attendees.
Our first African-American attendee who I remember was Jane ("Bunny")
who attended first in 1999. She is shown in this photo here:
http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/dlv99/outnabout/DCP00519.jpg
In case you don't recognize the setting of the photo, it's the rear
entrance to what was Keys Lounge at the time, now Crewsn.
She also appears here on the Area 51 trip several years later:
http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/dlv2003/pics/08-dr7_20.jpg
Yes, that day was very windy and a definite Bad Hair Day.
We have had African-Americans off and on over the years. We also
have seen quite a few of Asian and Hispanic descent as well. We
have not tracked ethnicity on the survey. No particular reason,
but I know that our group has always been diverse.
Now if we could only get some FTMs. :)
