This mailing includes Marisa's preliminary report on the DCR
Option for Monday plus a few other various items which have
come in over the last few days.
We'll be sending out mailings as needed and as appropriate
over the next several days. Please be sure to read any ORG
mailings promptly and carefully, since when the decision time
comes, which will most likely happen in the next few days,
we'll need to act.
Before we "pull the trigger" on any Welcome Celebration plans,
we need to hear back from Cynthia, who will be approaching the
Artisan's management tomorrow. Please hold off on any "go for
it" or "ash-can it" comments until we get Cynthia's initial
report, which will be tomorrow evening at the earliest.
Comments on Marisa's DCR Option, in and of itself, are, of
course, welcome, keeping in mind that any decision, even a
tentative one, needs to happen after reports on both options
are in.
I'm sure I speak for everyone when I convey BIG THANKS
to Marisa and Cynthia for doing the "heavy lifting" to make
our Welcome Celebration happen!

Preliminary Downtown Cocktail Room Option report:

Michael at DCR is willing to work with us, but the big "but" is we
would need to provide extra help to newbies and the intimidated
individuals for maximum attendance, because of parking and access.
Street parking shouldn't be suggested (who are all of these shady
people roaming around just off Fremont?)
The pay for parking Fremont garage is across the street from DCR
with access off 4th St (1 block walk around it on Fremont). The
El Cortez has 2 free self-park garages (no ticket) with access
off 7th St. (walk through the casino and 1 block of Fremont).
The confusing front door is below a small neon sign about 100-200'
S. of Fremont St. on the E. side of LV blvd.
There is no valet and if dropping people off you would need to pull
in the alley next to their door to be legal.
To cover the cost of bringing in extra people etc, he would need a
contract with maybe $1000 minimum spent on drinks. Apps are usually
available during HH until 8pm, but he could extend that time for us.
He gets the apps as take out from a very nearby restaurant and
sells them at cost.
He considered being open just for us during this time, but I think
that anyone that would enjoy our company, shares the bathrooms and
buys drinks to help hit the min. can stay.
We should get a firm head count on this as I'm uneasy about signing
the contract.
If we do the DCR, would it help to move the wed. Fremont event to
monday?

Yes, I've eaten at the Stratosphere Buffet. It's surprisingly
good for the price. Googling gives $13.25 for the Sunday Brunch
which is what we'll use for our documents.
