Let the "date votes be cast and counted". Then forward we
move to programming!

Final date discussion:
Since our vote will occur before the next ORG mailing, we can
say that the floor is now closed for DLV 2011 proposed date
comments and discussion. Thanks to all who provided input on
our proposed dates.
As a summary, and to provide some data points for those who
might not have decided how to cast their votes, here are some
summary "peg counts" from the discussion here on the ORG list
and in the Discussion Forum.
Yes, a number of the date comments were somewhat vague.
In doing the count, I gave one full point for a clear mention
of a week as a first or only choice, and 1/2 point for any
second or third choice, or a statement which included two or
more (but not all) proposed weeks. In other words, a statement
of "anything but May" got 1/2 point for all but the last set
of dates. "Any date is fine with me ..." gave no points.
Here are the counts, current up to Tuesday ...
First, from the ORG group discussion:
a. Sunday, March 20 thru Friday, March 25: 2.5
b. Sunday, March 27 thru Friday, April 1: 2.5
c. Sunday, April 3 thru Friday, April 8: 3.0
d. Monday, April 25 thru Saturday, April 30: 6.5
e. Monday, May 9 thru Saturday, May 14th: 1.0
Next, for the Teeming Millions, from the Discussion Forum:
a. Sunday, March 20 thru Friday, March 25: 2.5
b. Sunday, March 27 thru Friday, April 1: 3.0
c. Sunday, April 3 thru Friday, April 8: 7.5
d. Monday, April 25 thru Saturday, April 30: 13.5
e. Monday, May 9 thru Saturday, May 14th: 5.5
These, of course, are in no way binding, but give us a
summary on how the ORG group and the DLV audience in general
feel about the proposed dates.
As I've said before, I (Annie) really don't have a dog in
this fight nor a strong preference for any of the proposed
weeks. I am considering holding my vote to be used only for
a tie-breaker or last vote needed for a majority case.

Here is the remaining ORG date discussion ...

Last year was the largest turnout? Go for those dates IMO.
Any dates that are chosen will inhibit some. This is a fact of
life for planners. May seem harsh but I enter this. DlV merchants
will always be there for the most part. Harmony nails, glamour
boutique etc. don't close down during the rest of the year. All
the shows still go on in one way or another...
What I learned about going to DlV is what I could create for
myself not included in the activities. There are great girls
in the vegas area and girls visiting all the time. If you can't
go during Dlv all is not lost. You can still go and have a VERY
good time.
Dlv is a vacation. Your vacation. Anyone can make anytime their
own little Dlv.
My best to all

Due to a newborn, I don't think I'll be able to help this year,
although I should be able to attend for two or three days.

Hello fellow DLV volunteers, first time volunteering for DLV.
My input, would prefer to avoid Easter and Mother's Day.
Last Sunday of March, first week of April sounds good to me.
Thanks
Laura

Upcoming vote:
Everyone who is of voting status should have received a test
"DLVORG Electorate Test Message" within the past few days.
IF YOU ARE OF VOTING STATUS, OR BELIEVE YOU SHOULD BE,
AND DID NOT RECEIVE THIS MESSAGE, SOMETHING IS WRONG
AND WE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT IT!
This will be our first vote of the DLV 2011 year, so this is
our shakedown run so to speak.
(Update: It's a good thing we tested this. The test message
to one very significant ORG member bounced!) :)
The ballot e-mail will be sent out Thursday. If you are of
voting status and your ballot does not arrive by Thursday
evening at the latest, please let us know.
For those new to voting status, we vote by e-mail, with
each person of voting status replying to the special "ballot"
e-mail with their vote. We call the result when no further
votes have been received for a 48 hour period. We'll announce
the outcome in an ORG mailing shortly after the outcome is
known, and we'll post the raw votes with enough information
so you can find yours to be sure you were counted, but
not enough so your vote can be identified. This also will
prevent any question of "stuffing", since each vote can be
attributed to a valid voter.
For this upcoming vote it's a one in five choice, so there
is a chance that we won't get a majority. Should we fail
to reach a majority, we'll have an immediate run-off vote
between the top two vote getters.
Please be watching for your ballot tommorrow.
Vote early! Vote often! :)
