Moving along:

Big thanks to those who have volunteered to take on various
items. I think our schedule is filling out nicely. :)

We are about a month away from activity sign-up time, which
is when the details of anything which requires a sign-up,
headcount, or some other hoop-jump must be solid. Starting
next week we'll go over the various details which need to
be in place for this to happen.

I was originally planning for a general mailing last weekend,
but held off as there was not really much new to say at the
time. It will most likely go out this weekend.
. . . . .

As of Thursday we have 162 validated attendees. Registrations
continue to come in at about 1 per day.

General "cold newcomer" registration opens next week. Fasten
your seat belts. :)

Ending decision:

Alanna has reported that the Bahama Breeze is offering us
Friday the 23rd. under the same terms we had last year.

However, in light of Marisa's discussions with Firefly,
I think this (Firefly) is our better option for a Friday
ending HH and dinner. This gives us a unique and fresh
ending activity, and I think it will allow us to capture
more of a crowd, in particular those who think that Bahama
Breeze has become repetitious.

This would be the Firefly on Fremont St. and would allow
the group to "spill out" on Fremont Street as the activity
winds down. Details are in Marisa's note below.

If there are no significant objections, I would like to
give Marisa the "go" to make this happen, and keep Bahama
Breeze as a "Plan B" option should major issues develop
with either of our large gatherings.

Friday gathering:

Marisa writes (first-person, no quoting):

I visited Firefly at Fremont yesterday, looked everything
over with Chris (Fremont manager) and friday in the banquet
room with the full menu will work.

There is a low traffic bathroom 1 floor up a escalator and
just past the bingo hall. Do bingo players dare to leave the
bingo table long enough to go to the bathroom, they might miss
the winning game?

As soon as we get more of a concensus on this for friday, I'll
do the contract thing.

I'm not to concerned about getting the $100 back just on
donations, rather than charging at the door.

Will there be some concern about the cab ride to Fremont?
Most people should have ride sharing arrangements by the
end of the week. This place is going to work nice after the
art tour on tuesday, it's about one mile north of the
Artsfactory.

PS: I do like Bahama {Breeze} food and atmosphere.
. . . . .

Thanks, Marisa. I think this will work out well. I really
can't envision any significant objections to this plan.
The full menu is a big plus, and I'm sure they will sell
far more food this way.

I don't foresee any major transportation issues. Hopefully
by Friday everyone who needs a ride will either have
established contact with those who have empty seats or
gained the confidence to take a taxi.

Golf updates:

Mindy writes (first-person, no quoting):

Ok, here is the golf information.

Tues April 20th at Desert Rose Golf Club

Limited to 36 players.

Arrive by 8 am please (tee off is 9 but there are range
passes, cart assignments ect.)

Cost $47.00 (This is actually about $4.00 less then last
year I think) Includes Greens Fees, Cart, Range Balls and
Lunch discount.

Send via Pay Pal to mindy@mindyrussell.com. (the pay pal
fees are included in the $47.00)

Payment must be received by April 11th. Bring a prize. We
will draw for prizes. Bring a prize. Win a prize.

As in the past this will be individual score.

We will play from the Ladies tees.

We need to maintain pace of play. For this reason we will
have a mandatory pick up when you reach 4 over par on any
hole. The optional pick up and drop near any other player
in the group will be in effect but the 4 over par will
still apply.

Does anyone know where the tiaras are? There are 2 out there.
. . . . .

Thanks, Mindy.

I'll get this information on the sign-up screen and we'll
include the details in a general mailing as we approach
activity sign-up time.

Mortons:

Alanna writes:

>I also would like to host a steak dinner at Mortons. I ate
>there last year and was treated beautifuly. It is 100 bucks
>a person minimum but well worth it. Let me know if Mortons
>is an option for anyday, but Sunday would be best for my
>schedule.

I think that Mortons would be an excellent fit for a dining
option on Sunday. Thank you. I'll get this on the schedule,
and unless you say otherwise, it will be sign-up required
at activity sign-up time.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Imperial Palace Auto Collection:

Marisa writes:

>I would like to host a Sunday late afternoon tour at the Imperial
>Palace Auto Collections. It should work nice since some people
>stay there and then we can go to the HH at Sin City Brewing
>after the tour.

Thanks, I'll get this on the schedule, replacing the former
first session of the "Art Tour" and I think it will work well
going into the HH at Sin City, which is a very easy walk a few
doors down.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Hard Rock:

Mary Beth writes:

>What kind of noise level were we talking about? I've been
>in other Hard Rock locations where the background music is
>noticeable but certainly nowhere near ear-splitting.

Having been there, I think it's best described as being
"on the edge" of what would impede conversation.

If you have any doubt as to whether this would affect the
turnout, please review the comments made last year as we
were first discussing this. The music level was the number
one concern which was expressed many times over.

>Was the request that the music volume be low to the point
>of barely audible? Don't the separate floors have their
>own volume controls, or is it one volume level for every
>floor and room in the building?

Yes, the various areas have volume controls. You may have
missed the point that the plans for the use of the separate
area on the third floor had fallen through. It was in the
second floor area where they were unwilling to do an
adjustment of the music level.

>I understand the need for people to be able to converse,
>but this is, after all, a Hard Rock and not a public library.

Yes, and that's why the HRC is a viable option for us, just
not for an opening mixer where conversation is of major
importance. Once plans are solid for the Friday ending, then
we can fit HRC in where it fits best. I think it's a strong
contender for an after-dinner thing on Sunday evening.

Fashion Show and NSD:

Edy writes:

>I checked. They do it friday and saturday on the hour
>starting at noon till unknown... probably all afternoon.

>I would be glad to be there.

>There are several open air restaurants ie out in the open,
>down on the first floor at the back of the Mall near Dillards.

Thanks, Edy.

I'm going to mark this for lunch at 1:00pm and FS at 2:00pm
unless you specify otherwise. Please let me know if you
want the times adjusted.
. . . . .

>Directions/simple. Come south on Rainbow in Vegas to Blue

Thanks, Edy.

I'm sure you understand that if we're going to announce this,
we'll need a volunteer host(ess) to agree to be there and
welcome the others. If you (or anybody else) would like to
adopt this, please say so and we'll get this on the
schedule. I do share the concern about dress, since many in
our group like to take some liberties with their outfits
for NSD.
