Org List:
This is the DLV 2009 Organizational Mailing List (dlvorg@geekbabe.com)
Replies to this message will be forwarded to the DLVORG list and not
the DLV-Announce or DLV-Discuss list.

Timing:
Overall, things are looking good. Thanks, everyone! :)
Today is March 25, one week until the first of April.
I would like to see things reasonably solid as of April 1, in
particular those activities which need some kind of a sign-up,
headcount, hoop-jump, etc.
We've had a number of schedule additions and changes over the
past week or so. I would like to ask all to please do a sanity
check on the schedule below, paying particular attention to
those activities you are involved with or have an interest
in.
. . .
One other often-overlooked note. E-mail is not a perfect
medium, as we often find out the hard way. If you ever send
in something and it appears to vanish into a black hole,
please resend, noting that it has been previously sent.
. . .
Late-breaking news is that the SO Gathering will happen, most
likely at Maggiano's. Day/time have not been set yet.
. . .
Our roster is turning into somewhat of a mess! We have a
validated headcount of 177, including 32 SOs, but a closer
inspection shows things like obvious duplicates, a few
duplicated and cross-registered SO pairs, and some obvious
frivolous entries. I'll be going over these in the next
week or so and making some corrections.
Yes, there are a number of known chronic no-shows registered,
but that is to be expected.
The machine's projected headcount is currently 136, but I
think this should be around 130 taking into account the
dupes and cross-registrations. Extrapolating this out, I
think we're on target for around 150 or so total.
Now, looking at the daily capacity projections, we're
showing a somewhat slower start (Mothers Day?) this year
with a peak toward the mid-end of the week and the usual
and expected drop-off of the final weekend.
Total projection for 2009-05-11: 95
Total projection for 2009-05-12: 105
Total projection for 2009-05-13: 115
Total projection for 2009-05-14: 116
Total projection for 2009-05-15: 114
Total projection for 2009-05-16: 106
We can expect the majority to check in on Monday, but this
year we will be seeing quite a few arrivals on Tueaday and
Wednesday as well.
Everything is pointing to a good turnout, despite the economy.
I don't think it will be a record, but ya never know! :)

Pity Party is the major item hanging. Can we please have some
decisions on day and time. Other details can be worked out
as needed.
Also see Susan's item and suggestion in the last mailing.

McMullans and Zodies and such:
Susan writes:
>It seems that most of the scheduled dinners have happy hours.
>So, for Thursday at Mcmullan's, I'll be there to host a happy
>hour at 6PM.
Thanks, Susan. I'll add a note to the schedule.
>The situation at Zodies was not TG related. The person that I
>talked to gave me a verbal committment before I suggested it to
>the committee as an event. She was the same person that I
>arranged last years jam with, and who tended bar for the event.
>She now has told me that Bob, the co-organizer, who has been
>singing with me can't. Also she wants all the musicians to
>audition for her before Friday. This is not what I want. I
>want all musicians of all skill levels to have their chance.
>I want a fun night and am hoping to give anyone who wants to
>play a chance to have a short set of their own.
>I thought that she was a friend and asked her to let me do it
>my way, but she said no. I will not be going there anymore
>because I believe that she failed to hold up her committment
>to me and DLV. Whether or not that deserves red-lighting
>Zodies, I'll leave that judgement to you.
Our "Red Light" is really reserved for those businesses which
have shown a TG-hostile attitude, such as being restroom nazis
or in one case flat-out saying they don't want us. Since this
case is not a case of hostility to the TG community, I don't
think it warrants the red light. However, if you wish to make
comments on the Big List, that may be appropriate.
Thanks for clearing this up.
>I am trying to find an alternative place. Friday is hard because
>a lot of the clubs have things scheduled for that night. I'll
>find something and would welcome any suggestions.
>I am talking with Amy about having it at the Glamour Boutique
>after the murder event.
>I'll let you know as soon as I have a place.
Thanks, Susan. I've kept it on the schedule for now but
changed the venue to TBA. Please let us know as things
develop.

Dining:
AJ writes:
>>* Friday dining. Nora would like some relief! Volunteers?
>I'm thinking about it. I'll let you know where I'm going to
>dinner before I go to Company. you're all welcome to join me.
>I hope to have the answer by april 1.
Thanks, AJ, please let us know the venue as soon as you can.
. . .
>>Also, should Zodies be red-lighted or yellow-lighted on the Big
>>List? It's currently green (TG-friendly).
>I don't know, i've never been there.
. . .
>> I'm planning to be at Encore on Wednesday evening, regardless of
>> what other events are to be scheduled.
> That is indeed your call. Just keep in mind that you may be up
> against two big guns in the same timeslot.
I will be at Encore Wednesday Evening.

Art Tour updates:
Sarah writes:
>The Art Tour Committee has suggested changing the start time
>for both the morning and afternoon sessions to 30 minutes
>later for each one. 10:30 for the morning visit to the Atomic
>Testing Museum and 2:30 for the afternoon visit to the
>Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art. We are also working to add a
>lunch alternative to the buffet, probably to be held at the
>Artisan. That is still being worked on, but should be
>confirmed soon.
>We are working to settle on meeting locations for those who
>don't go directly to the venue and driving directions for
>those who prefer to meet at the site. The drafts of those
>are being circulated and should be available in a week or so.
>If we manage to get it all done=2C the amended schedule
>should probably end up looking like this:
> Wednesday, May 13:
> 10:30am: Art Tour, morning session (Atomic Testing Museum) - ms
> 1:00pm: Lunch With Ginger (Paris Buffet) - ms
> 1:00pm: Art Tour lunch (Artisan Hotel) - ms - Tentative
> 2:30pm: Art Tour, afternoon session (Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art)
> 6:00pm: Happy Hour (Trevi) - ms
Thanks, Sarah. I've made the updates on the schedule.
Hmmmm ... (wheels turning) I'm wondering if the Artisan might
be good to consider for a pre-DLV get-together on Sunday?
Comments on this, gang?
