St Tropez:
Responses, as you see, are mixed but tend to be in favor of
dropping the St. Tropez and adding the Sahara. Let's keep
this moving, calling for votes tomorrow with a 24 hour expiry
unless something earthshaking is received.

Having stayed at both the St Tropez and the Sahara and bookings
could be confirmed for May 2009, then I would probably select
the Sahara if comparing the two properties.
The rate of $79/night is acceptable at St Tropez. I do not
believe we should remove the St.Tropez from our lodging list
if we cannot get a $50 night rate. At the same time, we
should not entertain their requirements for a deposit to
get any rate. Just my opinion.
My overview of the two properties----
At the St Tropez, the rooms are nicer than the Sahara and if you
have an interior room the view of the grounds is lovely. The
rooms on the outer perimeter are horrible and I had to ask
for a change. Thankfully there was no difference in room rate
that date. But it sounds that this may become an issue in
2009. The Internet hook-up required that one go to the lobby.
There was no restaurant and the morning continental breakfast
included in the rate was 'ok' but limited. The parking was a
close walking distance. The room rates are reasonable and at the
lower LV pricing.
At the Sahara, the rooms are adequate and clean but not as nice
as the St. Tropez. Forget views... there really isn't such a
thing at the Sahara. There are several eating venues which are
convenient and the wait staffs is very pleasant. If you like
gambling that is available and important to some. The property
location is on the rapid transit. The auto access is convenient
to get into and out of the garage. However, the parking garage
elevator is slow, but walking the staircase (never more than two
floors) is not a real problem. Always felt secure with Security
riding their bikes in the garage. The room rates have been very
reasonable.

You have a second -- according to ABC-TV's Nightline Program a
couple of nights ago there will be lots of great rates in Las
Vegas given the state of the economy that is likely to be even
worse next May!

I'll abstain from the second and subsequent vote since I have no
intention of staying in a hotel on or near the strip, and have no
data on the subject other than Nora's comment. I will support the
choice of the majority.
