Nominated Dates for DLV 2008:

The following are nominations of proposed dates for DLV 2008,
and are listed in the order received. Since they are for the
same dates, it's logical to make the assumption that these dates
are not only nominated, but seconded.

It would be a good thing to get the dates for DLV 2008 decided
upon and announced as soon as possible.

Does anyone have any other dates they would like to nominate for
DLV 2008?

Or, would anyone like to make a motion that nominations cease?

Age Appropriate:

We had a well attended DLV this year, as a matter of fact, a
record turnout!

During our well attended TG event, we did have an issue with a
person regarding Age Appropriate dress. I feel that it's time
to clear the air about this person.

She appeared to be clueless, but in fact, was blatantly ignoring
the dress standards. She was a second year attendee, whom I
had received negative comments and complaints about, not only
this year, but last year.

She appeared to be a person in her 60's, but her dress habits
were clearly inappropriate, mostly age-inappropriate, but
sometimes occasion-inappropriate and size-inappropriate as well.
Yes, that included the minis and strappy tops in mainstream
activities.

I met with a number of Org members and discussed the situation.
One Org member stated that she was probably clueless, while
another stated that this person knew exactly what she was doing,
and was just pushing the envelope as far as possible.

During the discussion with the Org members present, I was "drafted"
to counsel this individual. At one of the safe venues, I took this
person aside to a quiet area and started a discussion.

First, asking her what she expected out of DLV. It seems that she
had visited Las Vegas a few times prior on business, and felt that
LV was a safe place to attend a TG event.

Second, I asked her why she dressed in the manner she did. Her
answer was that she wanted to express herself as her femme persona.
I didn't quite understand what she meant by that, until I stated the
third part, which was that I had received complaints about her
choice in clothing and the definite look of "a guy in a dress".

She defended her appearance by stating that she had gone through the
Bellagio "without even a glance". This was contradictory to what I
was told, since some of the complaints came from some of our people
attending the Bellagio Lunch.

As it turns out, after I stated she was in violation of the
Behavior, Dress, and Restroom guidelines, specifically with regard
to age-appropriate dress, she stated she "didn't want to dress like
an old lady, and wanted to dress like a young girl". She also tried
to justify her dressing taste by the "fact" that the age of her
alter-identity was indeed 20-something, thus making most of her
outfits age-appropriate.

At that time, I knew then that this conversation would do nothing
but deteriorate. So, I ended the counseling session by advising
that she needed to dress age appropriate, or she would be uninvited
to further mainstream activities. I also recommended that if she
wanted to dress like a 20-something, she should consider attending
a TG event that is more tolerant to her dressing style, other than DLV.

At the conclusion of our talk, she wanted to leave the venue and
return to her hotel, which I gave her a ride to.

The next day, she attended the Limo Tour, and did some "Annie
bashing" and "DLV bashing", which did not go over well with some
Org members present. A couple of Org members confronted her, and
defused the situation for the time being.

It appears she left Las Vegas earlier than planned. I want everyone
to know that she was not banished from DLV by me, nor anyone else in
the Org group, and took an early flight home on her own accord.

I don't know if she plans on attending next year, but if she does,
we might be doing this all over again.
