Thanks again, gang:
As of this time most everything on the DLV web site has been restored.
If you find something that does not work as expected, please write in.
This will most likely be the last general mailing to the DLV 2005 ORG
group. This next week we'll add the new volunteers and kick of the DLV
2006 ORG group next Wednesday. This will be totally transparent to most
of you.
Some of the people here have written in with notes and suggestions for
DLV 2006, and I'm holding those until next week when we will have the
new volunteers with us.
Again, I want to thank everybody for making DLV 2005 as fun as it was!
I'm looking forward to working with all of you again for DLV 2006.
Although we did have some last minute snags and disappointments, I
think that overall it went very well.
We'll have some more finite data when the survey numbers come in.
Speaking of the survey ...
I would like to also ask you to please take the DLV 2005 Attendee
Survey if you have not done so already. It's on line at:
http://www.geekbabe.com/dlv/dlv2005/2005survey.html
Attendee feedback is probably more important this year than it's been
any time in the past, so if you haven't taken this, please do so. It
only takes a few minutes.
This will remain on line until May 30. Next week we will have some
preliminary numbers and comments.

Survey comments:
>If I sent my comments when you were testing the survey, have they been
>discarded? I think I may have had this problem with the registration.
Nothing on the survey should have been discarded, not even from the very
first test entries. I didn't have to clear or restart anything this
year. If they were entered, they will be on the report next week. If
they aren't, please let me know. We can go through all kinds of logs and
trace what happened. No survey responses were lost due to the system
crash.
However, I'm going to make one rare exception to the policy of putting
all comments in the report. There is one that came in which is really
nothing but hearsay regarding the past financial status of one vendor
and I don't think it adds anything and since it mentions the firm by
name and is unsubstantiated I don't think it's appropriate to spread it.
It really does not have anything to do with DLV, actually.

Hmmmm ... did you see it as attitude toward our particular group or just
attitude in general?

Thanks for the report, Leah. I'm glad you brought that to the attention
of management.
IIRC, there has been a vegetarian option on our menus before, something
like eggplant parmesan. That's definitely meatless, but includes dairy,
and might not be considered "light" by any means. Any Italian place
can do something like pasta marinara, but that's certainly not Atkins
friendly.
Let's ask those here who do have dietary restrictions for some examples
of Italian (and other cuisines) dishes that they might like to see on a
"party menu" for a place like that. Can some of you give us a few items
in particular that you might want and we can keep this in mind when we
book places for next year?
Gang, we need some feedback on our dining venues, as this is not the
only one that appears to have slipped over the past year. We most
definitely don't want to schedule large single-track things at places
where the word is out that the food is other than good.
Comments (on Carluccio's or anywhere)?

We could always try to talk Tony to putting on a miniskirt and going
into the ladies room at San Remo, I guess. :)

The only thing negative about a Mini-DLV in addition to the regular
large DLV is that, especially if they occur close to each other on
the calendar, some people may have to make some difficult choices
as to which to attend.
Speaking of smaller very fun events, I know of one that's gonna be
coming up this October. >>HINT<< :)

AFAIC, you can send that one back to the Sun with no return address!
I did not like the way that was written at all! :(
</bitchmode>
If you're part of that group, Diane, I might suggest that you print some
of the follow-up items that appear in our Discussion Forum instead, as
they give far more information more accurately.
I would very much prefer that we don't spread that one around. :(
