On the extension motion ...

Personally, I don't have any objection to and very few concerns about
the current motion to extend.

I've always kind of assumed that we would eventually exercise the option
we already voted on, that being a possible extension of one day. I
assumed we would have exercised (or may still) this option around the
first of the year.

This motion would only formalize and finalize it early.

My primary concern with any extension was of sufficient volunteer effort
to cover both the main and extended periods. Our schedule is filling out
nicely, and there will be some two-tracking as is, so I don't think we
will be stretching our volunteer commitment too far by adding the
preceding Sunday.

As has been brought up many times, this gives a "real Sunday" for such
things as High Tea and MCC.

This also doesn't commit anybody, participant or volunteer, to attend
the extended portion. Thinking ahead, I'll most likely plan to arrive
Sunday some time, whether or not we extend.

Comments?

When no further discussion on this motion occurs for 48 hours, we'll
call the question.

This motion, if carried will do just that, give you a Sunday at DLV.

I think we run the risk of getting shot if we extend DLV to actually
include Mothers Day. I do think it's best, if we extend, to do it
the preceding Sunday.

MCC could, in fact, be the first DLV 2004 activity, should the motion
on the floor carry. This also gives the option of a High Tea that day
as well.

>So, if the big Bang occurs on Saturday, I will just stay over and do my
>thang!

I think the idea of the Big Bang is all but dead for a couple reasons.
First is the Mothers Day Issue, and we probably don't want to schedule
any big-gun "must do" activities later on Saturday so those who do have
family commitments won't feel like they're missing the "best part" by
departing before the final curtain falls on DLV 2004. Another is the
fact that nobody seems to be jumping up and down and yelling for a Big
Bang finale for DLV. There's a lot of enthusiasm for activities of
various types, but not for a Big Bang. I would say that something like
Kate's proposal of a SOM show would be the feature activity of Saturday
evening.
